Axis Bank does offer education loans for abroad without collateral, but the usable limit depends on the exact loan route and how Axis classifies your campus and course. This applies to students and parents comparing an Axis offer for overseas study. The next step is an email or initial proposal from the education-loan team naming the route and institute category.
Axis uses three separate documents. The proposal is its initial written offer or route confirmation. The Key Facts Statement, or KFS, is the standard cost disclosure showing the rate, annual percentage rate, charges and repayment schedule. The sanction letter is the conditional approval and its loan conditions. Before paying a non-refundable fee, the family needs the route and institute classification in an email or proposal. Before signing, the KFS rate and charges should match the sanction. If Axis accepts INR 40 lakh as eligible education cost and its public 15% overseas margin applies, the family needs INR 6 lakh before fees. Annual percentage rate, or APR, means the yearly credit cost after the charges covered by the RBI rule are included.
The banking language gets dense quickly. These are the terms used in the comparisons below.
- Collateral: A specified asset that the lender can enforce after a default, subject to the contract and law.
- Unsecured: A loan without a charge on a specified asset. It does not automatically mean that no co-applicant is needed.
- Co-applicant: The person who signs with the student and shares the contractual repayment duty.
- Margin: The part of the eligible education cost that the family pays.
- Moratorium: The course period and approved grace before regular principal-and-interest EMIs. Axis says simple interest is payable during this period on money already disbursed.
- Benchmark: The reference rate used to reset a floating loan.
- Spread: The percentage added to the benchmark to produce the contracted loan rate.
- NBFC: A non-banking financial company regulated by RBI but not licensed as a bank.
- Notified NBFC: An NBFC named by the Central Government for the education-loan interest deduction.
- CIBIL score: A credit-bureau score out of 900, considered with the underlying repayment history.
Which Axis Bank collateral-free route is actually in the offer?
The route written in your proposal decides which public ceiling is relevant. Axis shows several different education-loan routes, and combining their largest numbers produces an offer that doesn’t exist. You shouldn’t compare any ceiling until Axis names the route beside it.
Start with the student’s situation, not the largest number. A full-time student at a premier course should ask about Prime Abroad. A working professional should ask whether the separate no-co-applicant route applies. If neither fits, compare income-based, general unsecured or secured terms. Burgundy matters only when Axis confirms relationship eligibility, and balance transfer matters only when replacing an existing loan.
The Axis education-loan page limits Prime Abroad to full-time premier courses abroad. Its public description gives the amount in these words.
Unsecured loan up to INR 1 Cr Axis Bank, Prime Abroad
A separate Axis application page advertises up to INR 1.5 crore only for Burgundy and Burgundy Private customers. The relationship segment and the final credit assessment still apply.
This table keeps the public routes separate. Amber rows need an important written condition. Red rows have no current universal public ceiling or price that can safely be applied to an applicant.
| Axis route | Advertised ceiling | Who it is for | What remains unclear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prime Abroad | Up to INR 1 crore unsecured | Full-time premier courses abroad, with tenure up to 15 years | Institute category, exact campus and course, approved amount and tenure |
| Burgundy or Burgundy Private | Up to INR 1.5 crore unsecured | Eligible customers in the named relationship segments | Whether the relationship must already exist, route code, course classification and final amount |
| Income-based funding | Up to INR 50 lakh unsecured | Full-time courses, with the amount based on co-applicant income and tenure up to 10 years | Income considered, existing obligations, approved amount and rate |
| Working professional | Up to INR 40 lakh unsecured | A working professional, with tenure up to 10 years | Employment and course rules, because the public card does not publish them |
| General higher study | Up to INR 7.5 lakh unsecured | Higher study in India or abroad | Co-applicant, tenure, guarantee treatment and complete cost |
| Secured | Axis shows no universal maximum | A case backed by property or an Axis Bank fixed deposit | Valuation, haircut, approved amount, security costs, lien and release process |
| Balance transfer | Axis shows no separate ceiling or price | An existing education loan transferred to Axis | Fresh KFS, opening balance, payment schedule and servicing or draw terms |
Figures current on 19 September 2026. These are advertised ceilings, not approved amounts.
The working-professional exception is narrow. Axis describes the co-applicant position in these words.
No Co-applicant required Axis Bank, Working Professional Education Loan
The no-co-applicant feature is published, but eligibility for this route still has to be confirmed in writing. A full-time student cannot assume the same exception. For Burgundy, Axis does not say whether the relationship must exist before application. The family should not move funds or open a relationship only for the headline until Axis confirms eligibility. Axis’s form also contains partial-collateral scheme codes, but it does not explain how much collateral is enough.
Is there a current Axis Bank education-loan university list online?
Axis does not publish a current downloadable list for its abroad education-loan routes. There isn’t an online self-check for Prime Abroad. Send the exact campus, course and intake to the Axis education-loan team or branch, then require a written reply naming the education-loan scheme and institute category.
The separate Student Banking Program says new-to-bank access can be invite-only. It gives the following instruction.
visit your nearest Axis Bank Branch for the list of eligible institutes Axis Bank, Student Banking Program
That programme list is not necessarily the complete Prime Abroad list. Third-party Prime A, Prime B and Non-Prime lists are not Axis policy.
- Send the exact university, campus, degree, intake and course duration to the education-loan team or branch.
- Ask for the education-loan scheme, institute ID or category, unsecured ceiling, margin and tenure.
- Obtain the reply by email or in the written proposal before paying a non-refundable fee or relying on the loan for a deadline.
A short email is enough. “Please confirm the Axis scheme code and institute category for my exact campus, course and intake. Please also state the unsecured ceiling, margin and maximum tenure that follow from that classification.”
What is the current Axis Bank education-loan interest rate?
Axis does not give one clean current rate grid for every education-loan route. One number matters first for the family, the effective rate and APR in the applicant’s KFS. You won’t find that final number in the web headline. The repo, spread and historical rates below are useful only for testing whether the offer has been explained clearly.
The focused Axis education-loan rate page identifies the benchmark and reset timing in its current disclosure.
Current Repo Rate: 5.25% Axis Bank, Education Loan Interest Rates and Charges
The same page says reset occurs every three months, or earlier if Axis decides. The main education-loan page separately advertises a starting spread of repo plus 3.5 percentage points.
The main page also carries an old grid based on a 6.5% repo, with 13.7% to 15.2% figures and malformed current-repo wording. Those figures do not line up with the focused September disclosure. Adding 5.25% and 3.5% to call 8.75% the current offer would ignore that conflict and Axis’s statement that the spread can change.
Only the applicant’s KFS gives the rate and repayment plan that can be accepted. The other rows explain why a headline or an old web table cannot replace it.
| Rate source on 19 September 2026 | What it says | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Focused September 2026 disclosure | Repo 5.25%, reset every three months, no complete route spread grid | Use it to identify the current public benchmark and reset statement |
| Main-page headline | Starts at repo plus 3.5 percentage points | Treat it as a conditional advertised starting spread, not the applicant’s rate |
| Embedded old grid | Old repo of 6.5% and rates from 13.7% to 15.2% | Do not use it for current pricing |
| April to June 2026 disbursed cases | Overall 3.5% to 13%, mean 9.22%; overseas average above INR 4 lakh was 13% | Historical realised pricing only. The 3.5% minimum includes government subsidies |
| Applicant’s KFS | Benchmark, spread, effective rate, APR, reset and amortisation schedule | Use this to compare the actual proposal |
The historical figures come from Axis’s April to June 2026 disbursed-rate disclosure. They are not a September 2026 quote or forecast.
For a retail term loan of seven days or longer, RBI requires a KFS validity period of at least three working days. Its commercial-bank conduct Directions also define what the APR includes.
APR will include all charges which are levied by the bank. Reserve Bank of India, KFS rule
The KFS should show the effective rate, whether it is floating or fixed, the benchmark and spread, next reset, APR, included charges and amortisation schedule. If the benchmark moves, RBI requires a choice between changing EMI, changing tenure or using a combination.
A fixed-rate switch is available only if Axis policy offers it. The current Axis rate page shows a conversion charge of 1% of outstanding principal, with a minimum of INR 5,000 plus GST.
Who is eligible for an Axis education loan, and which documents are required?
Axis publishes broad applicant rules but no universal age, salary or CIBIL floor on its current eligibility pages. You can’t infer those cut-offs from another applicant’s loan. Its eligibility page asks for Indian citizenship, merit-based or entrance-based admission, career-focused graduate or postgraduate study and regular co-applicant income evidence.
The page also uses a 50% condition for HSC and graduation. That wording is unclear for an undergraduate applicant who has not graduated. It should not be rewritten as a universal graduation rule for every student. An undergraduate applicant needs the exact academic treatment for the named route in writing.
Axis’s pages differ on who may sign. Feature copy describes a parent or guardian as primary debtor, eligibility copy mentions a parent, sibling or guarantor, and an FAQ includes a spouse, parents, siblings and parent-in-law. A parent can ask one direct question. “Will Axis accept me as the co-applicant for this route, what income will it count, and how will my existing EMIs affect the amount?”
The application and each release need different records. Completing the application does not complete the first draw.
- Student application: KYC, admission letter and fee schedule, SSC, HSC and degree records, and passport for study abroad establish identity, academics, course and cost.
- Co-applicant application: KYC, six months of bank records, salary slip for salaried income, or bank statements, GST records and income-tax returns for self-employment establish income and current commitments.
- Security: Property or Axis fixed-deposit records establish ownership, value and the proposed lien or charge where collateral is used.
- First draw: Demand letter, signed agreement and sanction, draw request, margin proof, security papers where relevant and Form A2 establish the amount and overseas payment instruction.
- Later draw: Fresh demand, request, margin proof, academic progress and Form A2 support the next course payment.
Axis can ask for more records. Its application form captures income, liabilities, course cost, own funds, course dates, security and requested moratorium, but does not publish the formula used to approve the amount.
Axis describes the service clock as a decision after the file is complete.
within 15 working days of receipt of the completed application form Axis Bank, Education Loan
This is a decision target, not a sanction or remittance promise. The clock starts after Axis records the application as complete with the appraisal documents, not after the first sales call. A dated acknowledgement and written deficiency list establish when that period begins.
How much family cash does an INR 40 lakh course need?
An INR 40 lakh eligible cost leaves INR 6 lakh for the family when the public 15% overseas margin applies. Axis publishes nil margin up to INR 4 lakh and for selected institutes, but it does not publish the current selected-institute list. The KFS and sanction need to state the eligible-cost base and any exception.
Family margin = eligible cost x 15%
Loan after margin = eligible cost x 85%
The worked amount below assumes Axis accepts the full INR 40 lakh as eligible cost. Excluded expenses, insurance, security creation, remittance charges and currency movement sit outside it.
| Item | Amount (INR) | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible cost | 40,00,000 | The course cost Axis accepts for this example |
| Family margin at 15% | 6,00,000 | Paid before or alongside draws as the sanction requires |
| Loan after margin | 34,00,000 | The principal used in the repayment example |
| Illustrative maximum if 2% is charged on INR 34 lakh | 68,000 plus applicable GST | The public fee ceiling does not establish the fee base Axis will use |
If the family wants Axis itself to lend INR 40 lakh while a 15% margin applies to the cost Axis accepts, that accepted cost must be about INR 47,05,882. The family’s share is about INR 7,05,882.
The current Axis application form says a paid processing fee will not be refunded if the file is rejected or withdrawn. Axis publishes a ceiling of 2% plus GST, but its fee page does not say whether it applies to the amount requested, sanctioned or disbursed. The KFS should state the fee base, rupee fee and any approved concession before payment.
What happens during the Axis moratorium and regular repayment?
Axis says simple interest is payable on the amount already disbursed during the moratorium. Its current page describes course plus six months as normal, extendable to 12 months in some cases, while another part says moratorium depends on bank policy and is not available on every loan. The sanction letter gives the approved grace period.
The public FAQ states the payment rule directly.
simple interest is to be paid on the loan amount disbursed Axis Bank, Education Loan FAQ
The moratorium should not be treated as an interest-free or payment-free period. If Axis offers another payment pattern, it needs to appear in the KFS, sanction and repayment schedule.
The family’s monthly interest can rise after every semester draw while the student is still studying. The example uses four INR 8,50,000 draws at months 0, 6, 12 and 18, a 24-month course, six months of approved grace, 13% simple annual interest and payment of that interest as it falls due. The 13% rate is the historical overseas average above INR 4 lakh in Axis’s April to June 2026 disclosure. It is not a current offer or prediction, and the draw dates are only assumptions for this calculation.
Monthly simple interest after each draw = cumulative disbursed principal x 13% / 12
| Stage or result | Amount | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Months 0 to 5 | INR 9,208 interest per month | Interest on the first INR 8,50,000 draw |
| Months 6 to 11 | INR 18,417 interest per month | Interest on INR 17,00,000 disbursed |
| Months 12 to 17 | INR 27,625 interest per month | Interest on INR 25,50,000 disbursed |
| Months 18 to 29 | INR 36,833 interest per month | Interest on the full INR 34,00,000 principal |
| Study-period simple interest | INR 7,73,500 | Four staged draws through month 30 when interest is paid as it falls due |
| Regular EMI | INR 50,766 per month | INR 34 lakh principal at 13% over 120 EMIs |
| Interest inside regular EMIs | INR 26,91,878 | Total of 120 EMIs minus principal |
| Combined interest | INR 34,65,378 | Study-period interest plus interest inside regular EMIs |
| Total paid to the bank before fees | INR 68,65,378 | Principal plus combined interest |
A 12-month grace would raise study-period interest to INR 9,94,500 through month 36. The regular EMI starts on INR 34 lakh because the example assumes every study-period interest payment was paid and none was added to principal.
Staged release costs less than pretending the full INR 34 lakh arrived on day one because interest runs only on money already released. RBI identifies charging from sanction rather than actual disbursement as an unfair practice in its fair-charging circular.
A rate reset can change the same plan. After 24 regular EMIs, the estimated balance is INR 30,20,461. If the rate becomes 14% and the original remaining period stays at 96 months, the EMI rises to INR 52,470. If the EMI stays at INR 50,766, the remaining tenure becomes just over 102 months and needs a smaller 103rd payment.
Reset stress = INR 30,20,461 balance at 14% over the remaining term
- Keep the end date: The EMI rises by about INR 1,704.
- Keep the EMI: Repayment runs to a 103rd payment instead of 96 remaining payments.
This 13% to 14% move is a stress illustration. It excludes the bank’s day-count method, rounding and exact reset process. The KFS should state whether Axis changes EMI, tenure or both.
How does an Axis sanction become an overseas payment?
An Axis sanction becomes usable money only after the borrower completes the release documents and the foreign payment reaches the beneficiary. A sanction isn’t cash waiting in the student’s account. Axis advertises pre-admission sanction and pre-visa disbursement, but neither statement removes the conditions for each draw.
Form A2 is the foreign-remittance declaration and instruction used for the overseas payment. It records the source of funds, purpose, currency, beneficiary and bank details. Credit approval comes first, but the payment still follows these steps.
- Axis completes its decision after receiving a complete application and appraisal documents.
- The borrower accepts the conditional sanction within its validity period.
- The agreement, signatures and any fixed-deposit lien or property security are completed.
- The borrower submits the university demand letter, draw request and margin proof.
- Form A2 carries the exact beneficiary, bank, purpose and currency details.
- Axis checks that the expense is approved and that enough sanctioned money remains.
- The bank converts the rupees and sends the payment through any intermediary banks to the beneficiary.
A later draw repeats part of the process. Axis asks again for a demand letter, signed request, margin-payment proof, academic progress and Form A2. Interest should begin on each actual amount and value date, not on the unused sanctioned balance.
Axis does not publish one complete processing time for an education-loan tranche. The family has to allow time for the draw review, currency conversion, intermediary banks and the university or provider matching the payment to the student.
Deductions can leave a university, GIC or blocked account short. The Axis outward-remittance charge sheet explains that OUR makes the remitter bear the stated intermediary-bank charge, BEN deducts it from the amount received, and SHA splits charges. Axis describes USD Assured Pay as full USD payment without intermediary deductions, with an extra charge over OUR.
The beneficiary should give the exact foreign-currency credit, account, routing code and payment reference. Before the first draw, ask Axis for the exact exchange-rate booking moment, the rate or markup used, who may authorise the booking, and whether the rupee debit or foreign-currency credit controls the draw. The Axis Form A2 says a fixed INR amount is converted at the applicable rate. If the rupee weakens, the same unused rupee amount may cover less of the foreign-currency bill. Axis has not stated that it will automatically increase the loan.
Will an Axis sanction work as visa or blocked-account evidence?
An Axis sanction can support a funding file, but the destination authority or institution decides whether the document and released money meet its rule. Three stages should not be confused. Sanctioned means conditionally approved. Available means Axis confirms that the borrower can draw the money under stated conditions. Disbursed means Axis has released it.
- United States: The SEVIS guide requires funding to meet or exceed expenses before the school issues the initial Form I-20. The visa process may also require evidence of education, living and travel costs. Ask whether Axis will issue the school’s required letter and show the money as available under its policy.
- United Kingdom: An overseas education-loan letter must meet Appendix Finance, be no more than six months old, name the student and state the release conditions and availability. Ask whether Axis will reproduce every required statement.
- Canada: A bank education loan is accepted proof, but IRCC evidence also covers tuition, transport, living funds and later-year planning. For applications from 1 September 2026 outside Quebec, one person’s living amount is CAD 23,448, excluding tuition and transport. Ask whether Axis will fund the GIC or living-cost amount and pay the named beneficiary.
- Germany: Germany accepts several official finance routes. A blocked account, when used, must be funded with the current amount and releases only a limited monthly sum. Ask whether Axis approves the provider, account and required net EUR credit.
- Australia: A financial-institution loan can be evidence, while the Subclass 500 page treats disbursement as the strongest evidence of genuine access. Ask which draw and remittance records will be ready for the visa application.
These destination rules are current to 19 September 2026 and can change independently of Axis.
Australia’s official wording makes the difference between approval and released funds unusually clear.
The best evidence you can provide of genuine access to funds if you are relying on a loan is evidence of disbursement. Australian Department of Home Affairs
If the student relies on a German blocked account, the sanction alone does not prove that the account is funded or that Axis will remit to the chosen provider. Germany also accepts other official finance routes, so the competent mission’s current requirement remains the starting point.
How do tax, prepayment and Axis repayment work after moving abroad?
Three parts matter to the family. The first is tax when money goes abroad, the second is who may claim the interest deduction, and the third is how the student will pay or close the loan after moving. Treat them as three separate checks.
Tax on the remittance
A qualifying Axis-loan-funded education remittance has nil tax collected at source under section 394 of the Income-tax Act, 2025. Tax collected at source, or TCS, is an advance tax collection on specified remittances. For self-funded education, the current rate is 2% only on the aggregate amount above INR 10 lakh in a tax year from 1 April 2026, under the Income-tax Act, 2025 and Finance Act, 2026.
The exemption comes from section 394, not from a discretionary Axis waiver. The Axis Form A2 records whether the source is an education loan, while currency conversion, bank commission and intermediary-bank charges can still apply. You’ll still need to confirm that the purpose and source are recorded correctly before remittance.
Interest deduction and government guarantee
Section 129 can allow qualifying interest actually paid for up to eight tax years in total, subject to the old tax regime and every statutory condition. The claimant must be the individual who took the qualifying loan and paid the interest from income chargeable to tax. The defined relative is a spouse, child or a student for whom the claimant is legal guardian. A sibling accepted by Axis as a co-applicant does not become a qualifying relative merely because of that loan role. The eight-year period begins in the first tax year when interest is actually paid.
Axis appears on the NCGTC CGFEL member-lender list. Membership does not place every Axis loan under the scheme, and a guarantee does not cancel the student’s debt. Before repayment begins, the family should decide which eligible borrower will actually pay the interest and may claim it. Axis must separately confirm whether it has placed this particular loan under CGFEL.
Repaying or closing the loan after moving abroad
An eligible personal floating-rate education loan carries no part-payment or full-prepayment charge under the current RBI Directions, regardless of the payment source and without a lock-in. A fixed or hybrid loan can follow different disclosed terms.
If the student becomes non-resident, RBI’s rupee borrowing Direction updated 8 September 2026 lets Axis continue the loan to its original maturity after reviewing the case. NRE is a rupee account for foreign income, NRO is a rupee account commonly used for Indian income and payments, and FCNR(B) is a foreign-currency term deposit. Repayment while abroad can come through inward remittance or the borrower’s permitted NRE, FCNR(B) or NRO account, as well as older account types expressly allowed by the RBI direction.
Axis’s online loan-service page gives routes for statements, repayment schedules, interest certificates and the no-dues certificate, but the separate overdue-payment portal says that facility is unavailable to NRI customers. Before departure, the student should update residence and KYC status and test the normal repayment route. At closure, the borrower needs a dated quote, zero-balance confirmation and no-objection certificate, or NOC. RBI requires original security documents to be returned within 30 days after full repayment or settlement and provides INR 5,000 a day for bank-caused delay under the applicable direction.
When may an Axis education loan fit, and when should you compare first?
Axis may suit the family when the exact route and institute classification are confirmed, the monthly simple interest during study is affordable and the KFS compares well with another offer on the same assumptions. That comparison must use the same loan amount, security and repayment period.
When is the Axis offer ready for a final comparison?
- The campus and course have a confirmed Axis route and institute category.
- The family can pay the margin and the rising study-period interest after each draw.
- The APR, fees, grace and repayment period compare well with one matched offer.
When should another lender be checked first?
- The rate or fee waiver remains verbal.
- The institute category, margin, living-cost payee or blocked-account route is missing.
- The family needs a payment-free study period that the Axis sanction does not provide.
- The only support for eligibility is a third-party university list.
A fair comparison keeps the sanctioned amount, security, institute category, margin, study-period payment and repayment period the same. The SBI Global Ed-Vantage and ICICI education-loan pages publish different route and rate information. You can still request an applicant-specific KFS from IDFC FIRST. Do not use an aggregator rate while waiting for it.
What should you watch out for in an Axis Bank offer?
Seven issues can change the cash available, repayment amount or university deadline. The table shows which document should settle each one and when the family needs the answer. The first unanswered item should stop the family from relying on the headline.
| Issue | Document that must answer it | When to get the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Education-loan route and institute category | Axis email, written reply or proposal | Before paying a non-refundable fee |
| Rate, APR, fee base and any waiver | KFS, matched against the sanction | Before signing |
| Margin, moratorium and study-period payment | Sanction letter and repayment schedule | Before accepting the sanction |
| Visa refusal, intake deferral, course change or cancellation | Sanction letter and written cancellation terms | Before accepting the sanction |
| University, GIC, blocked-account or living-cost beneficiary | Written disbursement instructions | Before relying on the loan for a destination deadline |
| First and later draw conditions | Written disbursement checklist | Before every tranche request |
| Insurance, currency conversion, intermediary-bank and security costs | KFS, invoices, security papers and remittance instruction | Before signing, then again before each overseas draw |
RBI also gives three protections. The KFS must show APR and relevant charges, and a later fee absent from it needs explicit consent. Interest should run from actual disbursement rather than sanction. Match the loan’s floating or fixed label to the prepayment-charge line before making an extra payment.
Axis’s formal complaint channel is the first escalation route. The RBI Integrated Ombudsman becomes relevant after Axis has had the required chance to resolve the complaint.
Use the free loan calculator below to compare the rate, fee and EMI on the amount you need.
- The route table separates seven Axis paths that should never be combined into one headline offer.
- The applicant’s KFS gives the usable rate and APR because the current and old web disclosures cannot be joined safely.
- In the staged INR 34 lakh example, monthly simple interest rises from INR 9,208 after the first draw to INR 36,833 after the fourth.
- In the reset example, keeping the end date adds about INR 1,704 to the EMI, while keeping the EMI runs repayment to a 103rd payment.
- Visa authorities may ask for sanctioned, available or disbursed money, and those three stages do not mean the same thing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get an Axis Bank education loan without collateral for abroad?
Yes, Axis publishes several collateral-free routes for overseas study, but each has different conditions. The route table above shows why the ceilings cannot be merged into one offer. Your proposal should name the route, institute category, course, approved amount and co-applicant treatment before you compare it with another lender.
What is the maximum Axis collateral-free education loan?
There is no single maximum for every applicant. Axis publishes different ceilings for Prime Abroad, eligible Burgundy customers, income-based funding, working professionals and general higher study. The highest public line therefore does not establish your limit. Use the route table above, then match it to the route code in your proposal.
What is the current Axis abroad education-loan interest rate?
Axis does not publish one clean current effective-rate grid for every route. The focused September 2026 page shows repo at 5.25% and a three-month reset, while the main page combines a starting-spread headline with an old embedded grid. Your KFS must provide the effective rate, APR, reset and repayment schedule.
Is there an official Axis Bank education-loan university list?
Axis does not publish a current downloadable list for its abroad routes. The institute section above explains why the Student Banking Program list cannot establish the complete Prime Abroad classification. Send the exact campus, course and intake to Axis, then obtain the education-loan scheme and institute category by email or proposal.
Is a co-applicant compulsory for an Axis education loan?
A co-applicant is required on the general routes described by Axis, while the working-professional card expressly advertises no co-applicant. Axis pages also differ on the relationships accepted. Do not apply the working-professional exception to a full-time student. The proposal must name the signer, accepted relationship, income considered and contractual liability.
Does Axis require payment during the moratorium?
Axis’s FAQ says simple interest is payable on the amount disbursed during the moratorium, so the period should not be treated as payment-free. Axis describes course plus six months as normal and possible extension to 12 months in some cases. Your sanction and amortisation schedule set the exact payment and grace.
Which primary sources and methods were used?
Information is current to 19 September 2026 and comes from Axis, RBI, Gazette and destination-government sources. Every destination rule comes from its own government. The worked cost and reset figures use the assumptions stated beside them and are not Axis quotes.
