What is NCI MBA, and what should an Indian applicant know first?

Read this one before you get attached to it. NCI’s MBA is a part-time evening programme delivered blended, two weeknights from 18.00 with some Saturdays, over two calendar years. Irish immigration does not grant student permission for part-time or blended courses, so it cannot bring you to Ireland.

That makes this a page for someone already here on a permission that allows study, or already working in Ireland. It is a real MBA, 90 credits at Level 9, priced at EUR 13,650 in total or about INR 15.02 lakh, with a 20 credit dissertation and a live business simulation. It is simply not a route in, and NCI publishes no international fee for it either.

How much does NCI MBA actually cost?

Plan EUR 13,650, or about INR 15.02 lakh, for tuition if the current annual rate stays unchanged in Year 2. This is not an international student budget. The MBA is part-time, so ordinary living costs, an entry visa and student registration are not included.

This MBA does not support student permission. Converted at EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 using the ECB reference rate for 1 September 2026. Bank spreads and later fee changes are excluded.

NCI publishes EUR 6,825 per academic year for the 2026/27 MBA. Holding that figure flat across two years produces a EUR 13,650 tuition plan. The second-year amount is an estimate because fees are revised annually.

The plan deliberately excludes a Dublin living total. This programme is designed for a working participant already able to live in Ireland, not for a person entering through the full-time student route.

The INR conversion uses the ECB daily reference rate of EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 on 1 September 2026. A weaker rupee or a higher second-year fee will raise the final amount.

The academic fee is only one part of the decision for a local worker. Travel to campus sessions, devices, books and time away from work can create real costs, but NCI does not publish one amount that applies to every participant.

NCI’s international merit scholarship page is not used to reduce this MBA total. The international masters list excludes the MBA, and a part-time applicant should not assume an international tuition award applies without written confirmation.

An Irish resident should check whether an employer contribution or tax treatment applies to the individual case. This page does not subtract either because no universal entitlement is published for every participant.

The amount is best used as a tuition comparison against another part-time MBA. It isn’t comparable with a full-time international MBA total that includes living, insurance, visa and immigration registration.

NCI states the current structure on the MBA course page. The course runs across two full calendar years, so your employer and household need to support the time commitment as well as the fee.

Can an Indian applicant get into NCI MBA?

The academic rule on the course page is a 2.2 honours degree at Level 8 in any discipline plus a minimum of three years’ postgraduate work experience. The immigration rule matters more, because it decides whether the academic one is worth reading at all.

Three years of postgraduate experience means after your degree, and the course page is stricter than NCI’s own how-to-apply page, which drops the word postgraduate. The course page is the stricter of the two and it is the one that governs.

If you already hold a permission that allows part-time study, such as a work permit or a spousal permission, this becomes a normal application and the rest of the page is worth your time.

What most applicants miss

1. Irish immigration will not grant student permission for this

   The Irish Immigration Service says

   NCI’s own application portal labels this programme Part Time Evening at the IFSC campus. It fails the full-time test, the daytime test and the in-person test independently. No amount of academic eligibility changes that.

2. NCI publishes no international fee for it

   The course page shows EUR 6,825 per year and EUR 13,650 in total, with no separate international rate anywhere. Its computing siblings all publish one, at EUR 17,000. The absence is consistent with a programme built for people already living and working in Ireland, and it is another reason to treat the published price as not being an offer to an overseas applicant.

3. The English bar is half a band above the computing programmes

   Business and social sciences master’s at NCI need IELTS 6.5 overall with nothing below 6.0. The School of Computing master’s need 6.0 with nothing below 5.5. Same college, same page, adjacent rows. If you are comparing NCI programmes on your existing IELTS result, this is the one that will turn you away.

How should you apply for NCI MBA?

Apply directly to NCI only if you already have an independent right to live in Ireland for the part-time study period. NCI has not published a fixed closing date for this MBA, and course capacity can close applications before the September start.

Create an NCI application, select the exact programme and intake, upload the academic records, CV, passport and statement, then monitor the application email for requests and the decision.

The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by National College of Ireland.

Worth confirming: the immigration position before the academic application. A part-time offer does not create permission to move to or remain in Ireland.

Then audit the three-year work requirement and the Level 8 academic rule. The CV should show dates, scope and management responsibility clearly enough for NCI to assess.

Prepare transcripts, the graduation certificate, passport and any recognition-of-prior-learning evidence requested. An alternative route may require more detail than the standard degree route.

NCI has not published a fixed MBA closing date. Capacity can close the programme, so ask the admissions team for the live status before investing in documents or planning employer support.

The two-year timetable needs agreement at work and at home. Evening sessions, some Saturdays and assessed group work can overlap with busy professional periods.

If the legal residence basis expires during the course, MBA admission does not extend it. Residence and employment permission need an independent plan for the whole study period.

What jobs and work rights follow NCI MBA?

NCI does not publish graduate outcomes for this programme, and the reason is structural rather than evasive. Its First Destinations survey covers full-time programmes only, so a part-time MBA never enters it. That absence is itself the finding, and it tells you more than a number would.

Employers listed on NCI's MBA pages are where current students already work, not where graduates were hired. Do not read them as destinations.

The cohort is the product here. NCI describes a class drawn mostly from people already working in Irish organisations, studying two evenings a week while holding down the job. For someone inside that market it is a sensible network. For someone outside it, it is not reachable.

There is no AMBA, AACSB or EQUIS accreditation. QQI validates the award at Level 9, which is a genuine quality signal about the qualification and a different thing from an MBA accreditation.

Who should apply to NCI MBA, and who should not?

This works for someone already in Ireland with a permission that allows part-time study. For an applicant in India planning a move it is the wrong programme, because student permission is not granted for part-time or blended courses whatever the application looks like.

Anyone in India who wants to study in Ireland should the full-time master’s are the ones to compare. NCI’s three computing programmes are full-time, publish an international fee and are built around a study permission, which this one isn’t.

For someone already here, the questions worth asking are about the cohort and the timetable rather than about entry, because entry is the easy part of this one. Whether the job you’re aiming at carries a permit later is decided by the Critical Skills list, not by the degree.

What does the NCI MBA curriculum contain?

Five semesters and ninety credits, delivered on weekday evenings with occasional Saturday workshops. The core covers entrepreneurial dynamics, leadership, research methods, macroeconomics, decision science, financial resources and human capital, followed by two electives, a group business simulation and a twenty credit dissertation.

• Use the intake module list because options can change
• Worth confirming: the final project, practicum, internship or dissertation route in writing

The opening subjects include Enterprise, Economics, Decision Making. They explain why the entry condition matters because the course moves into assessed Level 9 work rather than teaching every foundation from zero.

Later work includes Finance, Human Resource Management, Leadership. The most useful assignments produce clear evidence of method, decisions and results instead of only a final grade.

Classes are delivered mainly live online with some campus attendance. The current timetable uses Monday and Wednesday evenings plus some Saturdays.

A project is useful when you can explain the problem, constraints, technical or management choices and what changed after testing. Only work permitted for display belongs in a portfolio, with confidential data removed.

Module names can change by intake. The 2026/27 brochure and live course page need to be read together, and NCI should resolve any conflict before the offer is accepted.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist NCI MBA?

This is not a shortlist candidate for anyone who needs a student visa. The delivery mode rules it out before any academic question arises, as the eligibility section sets out. If you’re already in Ireland on a permission that allows part-time study, it becomes a reasonable and unusually cheap option at the published fee.

Ninety credits at Level 9, awarded by QQI, ending in a twenty credit dissertation with a named supervisor. Along the way teams build a business plan and defend it to a panel of academics and practitioners, which is the assessment students remember. The whole thing is built around people who are working while they study.

The immigration position is the whole story and it isn't on the course page. NCI's own application portal labels this Part Time Evening at the IFSC campus, and no amount of academic eligibility moves that. The absence of any published international fee points the same way: it's priced for people already living here.
