What is IBAT MSc Business Management?

IBAT delivers teaching while Atlantic Technological University awards the Level 9 qualification and authorises admission. The live course page labels EUR 13,000, about INR 14.27 lakh, as the Overseas International Fee and advertises a EUR 3,000 scholarship without published eligibility rules. Official evidence names two Dublin addresses but no single assigned course campus.

The 60 ECTS taught block contains all seven published subjects across strategy, innovation, accounting information, research methods, supply chain operations, people and organisations, and marketing. A 30 ECTS workplace project completes the award. This is a conversion degree for graduates from outside business, so an engineer or technology graduate fits the stated route more directly than a BBA graduate.

The current overseas position is explicit.

“Please note that we are no longer accepting new applications for the September 2026 intake from overseas applicants.”IBAT College Dublin

IBAT says applications submitted after 27 May 2026 cannot be accepted or processed and that no exceptions will be made. A future application should wait for a newly published intake rather than reuse an expired form or search result.

For applicants comparing options across Ireland, this course should be judged on three facts together. It is short at one year, it requires a non-business Level 8 background, and its largest academic block depends on the student arranging a suitable workplace in Ireland. The award title alone doesn’t answer any of those fit questions.

How much does IBAT MSc Business Management cost?

Known one-year costs are EUR 23,360, approximately INR 25.64 lakh. This uses the official Overseas International Fee of EUR 13,000, the EUR 10,000 immigration finance baseline, a EUR 60 visa and EUR 300 registration. IBAT advertises a EUR 3,000 scholarship, but no eligibility test or award process is published.

ItemINRLocal currencyWhen it is due
Overseas International FeeINR 14.27 lakhEUR 13,000As required by the offer
Living-funds baselineINR 10.98 lakhEUR 10,000Across one year
Single-entry visaINR 6,585EUR 60At visa application
Immigration registrationINR 32,925EUR 300After arrival
Known one-year costINR 25.64 lakhEUR 23,360One-year programme

Where tuition exceeds EUR 6,000, Irish visa guidance requires evidence that at least EUR 6,000 has been paid before the visa application. This is part of tuition and not an additional charge. INR values use EUR 1 = INR 109.75, the latest European Central Bank reference rate available on 4 September 2026 and dated 3 September 2026. Flights, accommodation deposits, bank spreads and spending above the immigration finance baseline are excluded.

The live course page labels the full amount exactly as Overseas International Fee and gives EUR 13,000. On the same fee block, IBAT says a scholarship of EUR 3,000 is available and would reduce the net fee to EUR 10,000. It does not publish the scholarship’s criteria, quota, separate form or deadline. The safe budget therefore uses EUR 13,000 until the award is written into the offer.

If the full EUR 3,000 reduction is formally awarded, the same known-cost method becomes EUR 20,360, about INR 22.35 lakh. That conditional total is useful for comparison but should not be the amount used to prove affordability before an award. A future intake may also carry a revised fee because IBAT’s terms allow review before commencement.

IBAT says approved medical insurance is included in the tuition fee for international students who require a study visa. No separate insurance estimate is added here. Confirm the actual policy, dates and cover in the offer pack because non-tuition costs already spent can become non-refundable.

The EUR 10,000 amount is the Irish immigration finance baseline for a one-year course, not a quote for Dublin rent and daily spending. Accommodation deposits, flights, bedding, local travel and spending above the official floor remain outside the total. A five percent fall in the rupee against the euro would add about INR 1.28 lakh to the current known total.

The current refund policy normally deducts EUR 350 from an approved tuition refund. Cancellation at least 14 working days before the start normally permits a refund less that amount, while cancellation within 13 working days or after commencement is normally non-refundable. Older ATU terms mention EUR 250 for visa refusal, but IBAT’s newer policy updated 15 April 2026 says EUR 350, so written confirmation should settle any case.

Can an Indian applicant meet the MSc Business Management entry rules?

The standard route requires at least a 2.2 Irish Level 8 honours degree in a non-business discipline or an equivalent qualification such as a professional certification. Admission is based on academic qualifications and English evidence. QQI’s NARIC comparison maps a general three-year Indian bachelor’s to Level 7, so it does not meet the stated level by itself.

RequirementPublished ruleWhat you do
Award level (India)At least a 2.2 honours award comparable to Irish NFQ Level 8Upload the final award, all semester marks and grading scale
Prior discipline (India)Non-business disciplineShow that the previous award is outside business and supports a conversion plan
IELTS Academic6.0 overall with no component below 5.5Use a valid accepted score for the intended start
Other English testsPTE 55, TOEFL iBT 80, or Duolingo 105 with at least 100 in each sectionConfirm Duolingo before relying on it because IBAT marks it under review
GRE or GMATNot published as requiredDo not pay for either test unless ATU requests it
Work experience (India)Cannot replace the stated academic and English routeDo not use experience to claim that a Level 7 award is sufficient

Two tests operate separately. First, the qualification must be comparable to Irish Level 8. Second, it must come from a non-business discipline. A four-year engineering or technology bachelor’s is closer to the stated audience. A three-year BCom can miss both the level and subject rules, while a Level 8 BBA can still miss the conversion-course rule.

An applicant relying on a professional certification as an equivalent qualification should obtain ATU’s written decision before paying. The course publishes no Indian percentage conversion, CGPA minimum, backlog ceiling or rule that work experience repairs a lower award level. Job history may add context but cannot be described as an assured substitute.

For English, IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component is the clearest rule. IBAT also lists PTE 55 and TOEFL iBT 80. Duolingo is 105 overall with at least 100 in each section, but the page marks this route under review. The Cambridge wording gives a range of 180 to 190 and should be confirmed because a range is not a clear single minimum.

Three checks that decide eligibility

  1. The degree must be outside business

The programme is a conversion route. IBAT states:
“A minimum of a second class honours degree (2.2) at Level 8 in a non-business discipline”IBAT College Dublin
A Level 8 BBA may still fail the subject condition even when its level is sufficient.
  2. A general three-year degree usually maps below Level 8

QQI’s NARIC statement compares a general three-year Indian BA, BSc or BCom with an Irish Ordinary Bachelor Degree at NFQ Level 7. A four-year professional bachelor’s such as BE or BTech may map to Level 8, but ATU makes the final recognition and admission decision.

  3. English-medium study does not create the published exemption

The live page limits its study-based exemption to a degree completed in Ireland, the UK or the USA within the previous two years, plus named IBAT English-school routes. It does not promise an exemption for an Indian medium-of-instruction letter.

How should you apply to IBAT MSc Business Management?

Do not submit for September 2026 from overseas because IBAT closed new applications after 27 May 2026 and says there are no exceptions. Wait for a later intake to be published. Visa-required applicants must then use an authorised IBAT education agent and should request the approved-agent list directly from the college.

Wait for an accepting intake, confirm Level 8 conversion fit, prepare English and academic records, use an authorised IBAT agent, resolve the offer and then prepare the Irish study visa

The published overseas cycle is closed. The overseas deadline passed on 27 May 2026. IBAT will not make exceptions, and its current course page names no replacement intake or deadline.

StepTaskAllowanceWhy it matters
01Wait for an accepting intake1 dayUse a newly published IBAT course or admissions notice, not the closed September 2026 record.
02Confirm Level 8 conversion fit14 daysCheck qualification level and the non-business discipline rule.
03Complete English evidence60 daysAllow time for preparation, booking and results.
04Prepare official records21 daysCollect the award, every mark sheet, passport and any certified translations.
05Use an authorised IBAT agent7 daysRequest the current approved-agent list from international@ibat.ie.
06Resolve the offer and invoice21 daysConfirm conditions, tuition, any scholarship and refund terms in writing.
07Prepare the study visa60 daysUse the final offer, payment evidence, finances and included insurance documents.

The allowances are preparation estimates, not deadlines or processing times published by IBAT College Dublin. Start dates remain unconfirmed.

The course-select form identifies the programme, but the international admissions process controls visa-required applicants. Ask international@ibat.ie for the current approved-agent list. Programme questions can also go to atu.admissions@ibat.ie because ATU authorises admission for this award.

The application file should include the completed form, passport, final award, all semester results, grading information and valid English evidence. Where an Indian qualification needs context, add official institutional recognition and qualification-comparability evidence. Never alter module titles or combine marks into an unpublished percentage conversion.

The provisional offer may carry conditions. Complete all conditions before treating the place as final. The final offer and invoice should state the payable fee, any scholarship award, the payment schedule, refund terms, insurance and the assigned campus. A headline scholarship on the course page isn’t evidence that the applicant received it.

Only after the final offer should the visa file move forward. At this fee level, the visa file needs a receipt covering EUR 6,000 or more of tuition, although IBAT can require a larger payment. The finance baseline, academic history, study rationale and insurance evidence must remain internally consistent.

What jobs and work rights follow IBAT MSc Business Management?

The curriculum can support management work related to a graduate’s original field, but IBAT publishes no programme employment rate, salary distribution or named recruiter list. The work-based project supplies a substantial applied assignment, not a guaranteed job. An eligible Level 9 graduate may receive 12 months of Stamp 1G and a conditional second 12 months.

Programme placement rateNot publishedNo current cohort rate or denominator
Programme salaryNot publishedNo course-level salary distribution
Graduate permission12 months plus a possible second 12 monthsConditional Level 9 graduate route

A placement, graduate permission and employment are three separate things. The student secures the academic placement, immigration permission creates job-search time, and an employer makes the hiring decision.

IBAT positions the course for graduates who want to add management capability to an earlier discipline such as engineering or computing. The modules can support discussion of strategy, operations, people, marketing and innovation in that original field. They do not create a verified outcome for any particular job title.

The strongest portfolio evidence should come from the Work Based Learning Research Project, where the student investigates a real organisational question. Its value depends on securing an eligible host, defining a useful problem and producing credible analysis. The official brochure does not promise that the placement is paid or that it converts into employment.

Ireland’s Third Level Graduate Programme can give an eligible Level 9 graduate an initial 12 months on Stamp 1G and a second 12 months when the person demonstrates suitable steps towards graduate-level employment. That permission is time to seek work. It doesn’t guarantee a role, salary, sponsorship or employment permit.

IBAT has no verified QS or Times Higher Education institutional position that should override these programme facts. For this decision, the awarding relationship, approved Level 9 status, curriculum, placement obligation, fee exposure and absence of programme outcome data are more useful than an unsupported ranking claim.

Who should choose IBAT MSc Business Management, and who should not?

A strong candidate has a Level 8 non-business background, wants broad management study and can independently secure the mandatory placement in Ireland. A weak candidate has a business degree, depends on experience to repair a Level 7 award, needs a college-arranged internship or wants to apply overseas for September 2026.

VerdictYour backgroundWhy
Strong fitBE or BTech graduate seeking management breadthA four-year professional award may map to Level 8 and the discipline fits the conversion route.
Strong fitApplicant able to source a suitable Irish workplaceThe 12-week placement is mandatory and the student must secure it.
Needs evidenceApplicant relying on a professional certificationThe route exists, but ATU must confirm equivalence before it is secure.
Do not shortlistGeneral three-year degree holder relying on work experienceThe published route does not say experience can repair a Level 7 comparison.
Do not shortlistBusiness graduate seeking another general business awardThe standard entry route requires a non-business discipline.
Do not shortlistApplicant who needs a guaranteed college-sourced placementIBAT makes the student responsible for finding the host organisation.

The best fit is a graduate who can connect an existing technical, scientific, arts or social-science background with management questions. The application should name that connection. A general wish to become a manager is weaker than a clear reason for studying supply chain, people, strategy or marketing in the applicant’s original field.

Placement readiness is an admission-independent fit test. Before enrolling, identify likely host sectors, the type of organisational question that could support a 30 ECTS project, and whether an existing employer would approve the work. If no realistic host route exists, the course’s defining assessment becomes a material risk.

Funding must work without assumed placement pay or immediate part-time income. The official evidence does not say the work placement is paid. Student work permission is limited and cannot substitute for the pre-arrival finance evidence. Budgeting the advertised scholarship before it appears in an offer creates the same unsupported dependency.

What does the IBAT MSc Business Management curriculum contain?

All eight published modules are mandatory and total 90 ECTS. The largest component is the 30 ECTS Work Based Learning Research Project. It replaces a traditional dissertation and requires a 12-week placement in Ireland from June to August. The student must secure that placement, hybrid work may be accepted and fully online work is not permitted.

The note “Mandatory, semester 1” applies to 4 components in this table.

  • Complete all eight mandatory modules for a total of 90 ECTS.
  • Secure a suitable 12-week placement with a commercial or relevant organisation in Ireland for June to August.
  • Complete the placement on site, with hybrid work accepted in some cases and fully online work not permitted.
  • Use the existing workplace only where the employer approves and the proposed research meets the academic requirement.

The work-based project is not an optional alternative to a dissertation. The April 2026 brochure says:

“Students are responsible for securing their own Work Placement.”IBAT MSc in Business Management brochure

The host may be the student’s existing workplace with employer approval or a new relevant organisation.

The taught part builds from strategy, innovation, accounting information and research methods into operations, organisational behaviour and marketing. The project then asks the student to apply research to a workplace question. Because it represents one third of the award, host search and project design deserve the same planning attention as tuition and admission.

IBAT publishes no module codes on the current course page or factsheets, so the table leaves them blank. The April 2026 brochure’s extractable text renders the first module incorrectly as Marketing. The live page and the September 2024 official factsheet both identify it as Management Strategy, which is the current name used here.

Should an Indian student shortlist IBAT MSc Business Management?

Shortlist it only if your qualification maps to Irish Level 8, your degree is outside business, and you can arrange the required work placement in Ireland. Do not apply to the closed September 2026 overseas cycle. Wait for a later intake to be published and budget against the full EUR 13,000 tuition unless the offer awards the advertised scholarship.

The useful part of the course is the combination of broad management study and a substantial workplace research project. The risk is operational. The student must obtain an eligible 12-week host in Ireland for the 30 ECTS project. IBAT doesn't promise a paid placement, a named employer or a placement secured on the student's behalf.

Remove this programme from the shortlist if you need the college to provide the placement, if you hold only a general three-year Indian degree comparable to Irish Level 7, or if your previous degree is in business. It is also unsuitable when the plan depends on a September 2026 overseas application reopening.

Frequently asked questions

How much is IBAT MSc Business Management for an Indian student?

The official Overseas International Fee is EUR 13,000, about INR 14.27 lakh at the ECB rate dated 3 September 2026. IBAT advertises a EUR 3,000 scholarship and EUR 10,000 net fee but publishes no eligibility test or award process. Use the gross fee until the offer confirms a reduction.

What is the total planning cost for IBAT MSc Business Management?

Known one-year costs are EUR 23,360, approximately INR 25.64 lakh. This combines EUR 13,000 gross tuition, the EUR 10,000 immigration finance baseline, EUR 60 visa and EUR 300 registration. Flights, accommodation deposits, bank spreads and spending above the finance baseline remain outside the calculation.

Can an overseas student apply for the September 2026 intake?

No. IBAT says new overseas applications submitted after 27 May 2026 cannot be accepted or processed for September 2026 and that there are no exceptions. No later intake or deadline is currently published. Wait for a new official intake notice before using an application form or paying through an agent.

What Indian degree meets the academic rule?

The standard route requires at least a 2.2 award comparable to Irish Level 8 in a non-business discipline. A four-year BE or BTech may meet the level comparison. A general three-year BA, BSc or BCom usually maps to Level 7, and a BBA can conflict with the non-business requirement.

What English score does IBAT MSc Business Management require?

IBAT publishes IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, PTE 55 and TOEFL iBT 80. Duolingo is 105 overall with at least 100 in each section but is marked under review. An Indian English-medium degree is not listed as an automatic exemption on the current course page.

Does IBAT MSc Business Management include a placement?

Yes. The 30 ECTS Work Based Learning Research Project requires a 12-week placement with a relevant organisation in Ireland from June to August. It is mandatory, and the student must secure it. Hybrid work may be accepted in some cases, while a fully online placement is not permitted.

Does IBAT find the work placement for every student?

No. The April 2026 programme brochure makes the student responsible for securing the host. An existing workplace may be used with employer approval, or the student can find another relevant organisation. IBAT does not promise a paid placement, a named employer, placement procurement or employment after the project.

Can I work in Ireland after the master's?

An eligible Level 9 graduate may receive an initial 12 months under the Third Level Graduate Programme and a conditional second 12 months after showing appropriate job-search steps. This is immigration permission to seek graduate work. It does not guarantee employment, salary, sponsorship or an employment permit.

Who should avoid IBAT MSc Business Management?

Avoid it if your degree is in business, your qualification does not map to Irish Level 8, or you need work experience to substitute for the academic rule. It is also a poor fit if you require a college-arranged placement, guaranteed placement pay or an open September 2026 overseas application.
