The ATU fee policy states a EUR 14,000 gross annual postgraduate fee. The country-aware portal shows EUR 11,000 for an Indian applicant and calls the difference a country-of-origin scholarship discount. The budget uses the displayed EUR 11,000 charge, while the formal offer remains the binding fee notice.

The EUR 10,000 living row comes from Irish immigration and is an evidence threshold, not a detailed Galway or Letterkenny spending survey. Rent, utilities, food and local travel can exceed it. Flights, refundable rent deposits, bank conversion spreads and discretionary spending are outside the stated total.

ATU normally asks an on-campus postgraduate for a EUR 1,500 deposit within 30 days of offer. That deposit is part of tuition, not an additional cost. Payment timing depends on the intake and offer date, so the offer letter controls the first cash requirement.

Can an Indian applicant meet ATU MSc Computing entry rules?

The programme requires A Level 8 major award in Computing, specifically Software Development, or Computer Engineering with substantial software development. ATU presents this programme for computing graduates with good software development skills. The current central English floor is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each component.

No GRE or GMAT requirement is published, but academic eligibility does not remove the need to prove technical readiness.

For this programme, the practical preparation question is whether the file demonstrates strong software development supported by a computing or computer engineering degree. Use transcript modules, assessed projects, employment evidence and a concise skills inventory. A statement that merely says the applicant is interested in the subject does not answer the course’s technical demand.

ATU’s India guidance asks for a relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution comparable to an Irish 2.2 honours award at NFQ Level 8. The university, not the applicant, decides equivalence. Three-year and four-year Indian awards should therefore be presented with complete marksheets and a clear grading basis.

English results must be within two years of the programme start. The portal and central ATU table do not fully agree on TOEFL and Duolingo scores. Using the stricter current central figures reduces the chance that a technically complete file is delayed by an avoidable language-evidence issue.

Three checks before an Indian applicant pays

1. Degree equivalence and subject fit are separate

   A recognised Indian bachelor’s award still has to match the programme’s stated subject and technical preparation. A generic Level 8 comparison is not automatic admission.

2. The central English table is stricter

   DreamApply still displays TOEFL 79 and, on some records, Duolingo 100. The current ATU central postgraduate table says TOEFL 80 and Duolingo 105 with 100 in each section, so the page uses the stricter figures.

3. RPL is an assessment route, not a promise

   Recognition of Prior Learning can support a non-standard file, but ATU decides whether the evidence is equivalent. It should not be treated as a way to bypass missing subject foundations.

How should an Indian applicant plan the ATU MSc Computing application?

The official non-EU portal is open for a 12 January 2027 start and closes on 2 October 2026 at 23:59 Ireland time. That is the controlling deadline. The January fee policy requires a EUR 1,500 deposit no later than 30 days after the offer and full tuition within 60 days or by 31 October, whichever is earlier.

Apply directly through ATU's non-EU portal, upload identity, academic and English records, include official translations where required, pay EUR 30 and wait for the programme assessment. The offer letter controls the deposit and tuition schedule.

An effective academic statement documents every prerequisite named in the entry rule. Exact prior modules, assessed projects and professional work should connect the applicant’s evidence to the target pathway. Claims about tools need support in the application because documented readiness matters more than a generic technology statement.

Resolve the EUR 11,000 tuition figure before paying. The portal presents it after a country-of-origin discount from EUR 14,000, but the formal offer remains the payment document. Keep the offer, payment receipt and fee-policy page together for the visa file.

The October deadline is close enough that English results, translations and financial evidence should run in parallel. A late file cannot rely on the January start date, because the portal’s 2 October closing time remains the admission deadline.

What jobs can follow ATU MSc Computing?

ATU names advanced software, cloud, data, testing, security, forensics and research-oriented computing work. These are role directions supported by the curriculum, not placement promises. The university publishes no programme placement rate, salary distribution or named recruiter list, and an Irish employment permit depends on the actual job offer rather than the MSc title.

The 86.6% figure is national and multi-institutional. It is not an ATU result, programme placement rate or prediction for an individual applicant.

The curriculum aligns most directly with software engineering, cloud-native systems, data, testing, security and applied computing research. Entry level still depends on prior experience, project evidence and the employer’s technical test. A one-year degree can strengthen a portfolio, but it cannot make an inexperienced applicant equivalent to someone who already operated production systems or analytical projects.

The Critical Skills Occupations List includes selected ICT and analytical work. Eligibility depends on the offered occupation, SOC classification, salary, relevant qualifications and employer. Course completion alone does not create a Critical Skills Employment Permit.

A qualifying Level 9 graduate can receive an initial 12 months under the Third Level Graduate Programme and may receive another 12 months after showing appropriate graduate job-search steps. This is time to seek suitable work, not a job guarantee or a substitute for an employment permit.

Who is ATU MSc Computing for, and who should avoid it?

The strongest fit proves the required technical foundation, accepts a compact one-year workload and has a clear reason for this specialism. The clearest poor fit needs a slower foundation route, guaranteed internship or certification-led course that the published modules do not supply. Funding must also work without assumed part-time earnings.

The entry rule requires a computing or computer-engineering background with substantial software development.

The complete module sequence should be tested against the intended role and earlier study. A useful match adds technical depth that can be demonstrated through assessed work, while a weak match repeats existing knowledge or leaves a critical prerequisite unresolved. The course name alone cannot settle that comparison.

Students take only six of the nine 10 ECTS electives, so the programme cannot deliver every advertised specialism. ATU does not guarantee that each elective runs in January 2027. There is no published placement, and the official URL still says blended while the current international record says full-time in person. Obtain the weekly timetable before committing. These are decision conditions, not minor caveats. If the profile falls into the poor-fit row, a broader conversion degree or a more specialised programme may be a better use of the same tuition budget.

The cost fit is equally important. Irish immigration requires independent finance evidence, and casual work cannot fund the pre-arrival requirement. A student whose plan works only after assumed part-time income has not yet built a viable funding route.

What does the 90 ECTS ATU MSc Computing curriculum contain?

The full-time MSc totals 90 ECTS and combines named taught modules with a final 30 ECTS dissertation. ATU’s published list appears below with credit values and mandatory or elective labels. The choice rules matter because catalogue breadth does not mean every student completes every listed subject.

The dissertation, project or other assessed work can build evidence for one target role where ATU’s rules permit it. A module name can guide that portfolio, but it cannot guarantee a job title, employer or professional certification.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist ATU MSc Computing?

Shortlist this course when the published entry rule matches your record and you want a configurable technical MSc that can combine data, security, cloud and software topics. Remove it when you need a guaranteed placement or a different technical centre. The compulsory modules and current delivery evidence should control the decision, not the award title.

The main advantage is choice: six electives let a prepared developer shape a pathway before Research Methods and the Masters Project. That flexibility also means the course cannot deliver every advertised topic in one year. This page doesn't treat an elective list as a job promise. ATU hasn't published programme placement results, and the displayed international fee isn't guaranteed for a later cycle.
