Search for an enterprise resource planning course in Australia and one degree comes back. Victoria University’s Master of Enterprise Resource Planning, built around SAP, taught at its Sydney and Brisbane campuses. VU calls it the only course at this level in Australia.
We opened both of those campus listings on 23 July 2026. Under Intakes, each one said the same thing. We are not accepting applications at this time. The Master of Applied Information Technology listed beside it, at the same university, on the same campuses, at the same 2026 fee of AU$19,100 a semester, was open for five intakes a year.
What separates those two courses is not the fee and not the ranking. It is whether the professional body that governs the field has accredited the exact programme you enrol in, in the year you start. Engineers Australia publishes that list for engineering, the Australian Computer Society publishes it for computing, both are free to read, and neither lines up with the degree titles an applicant would guess.
What is an enterprise resource planning course in Australia, and who actually teaches one?
Enterprise resource planning is the single software system a company runs its finance, inventory, supply chain, manufacturing and payroll on, and in Australia the term is close to a synonym for SAP. At master’s level, exactly one Australian degree carries those words in its title.
Victoria University’s Master of Enterprise Resource Planning runs two years full time over four semesters, worth 192 credit points, with a 48 credit point exemption available that can bring it down to a year and a half. It is CRICOS registered under codes 103257G and 103278B, delivered in a hybrid format at the Brisbane Fortitude Valley and Sydney campuses. Entry is an Australian bachelor degree in any discipline or its equivalent, with IELTS Academic 6.5 and no band below 6.0, or PTE 58 to 64 with no section below 50.
The teaching is genuinely SAP-specific rather than a general management degree with a software unit bolted on. VU lists hands-on work in SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, Business Information Warehouse, Business Objects, SAP Analytics Cloud, Customer Relationship Management, Solution Manager and NetWeaver.
Two facts about it decide whether it belongs in your plan.
- The fee is quoted two different ways. The main VU course page gives an indicative AU$34,500 a year. The 2026 campus listings for Sydney and Brisbane both give AU$19,100 a semester, which works out to AU$38,200 a year, or about AU$76,400 over four semesters. Use the campus figure, since that is the one attached to the year you would actually start.
- Both campuses were closed to new applications when we checked. The Sydney and Brisbane pages carried the identical line under Intakes on 23 July 2026. That can change, and it is worth re-checking, but it means an ERP master’s cannot be the only thing your Australia plan rests on.
ERP is also taught under a different name. A few universities run an enterprise-management stream inside a broader IT master’s, and those are the ones the Australian Computer Society has accredited. Adelaide University’s Master of Information Technology (Enterprise Management) is the clearest current example, at AU$53,300 a year for the 2026 intake, two years on the Adelaide City and Mawson Lakes campuses, with February and July starts.
SAP certification is a third thing, and it is not a course you need a visa for. SAP sells its own certifications, validated by exam through SAP Learning with access to a live SAP environment, and they award a digital badge rather than a degree. You can sit them from Chennai or Pune. SAP publishes no price on that page, so treat any figure quoted elsewhere as unconfirmed until SAP gives it to you directly.
Should you fly to Australia for an ERP or SAP course?
Only if the degree you enrol in would still be worth the fee with the SAP content stripped out of it. Two years and a full international tuition bill buy you an Australian qualification and the right to apply for post-study work. The SAP skill on top of that is portable and can be bought far more cheaply from SAP itself. The accredited Australian qualification is the part you can only get by being there.
Put the four realistic options side by side and the choice gets easier.
| Course | Where | 2026 fee | ACS accreditation | Intakes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Master of Enterprise Resource Planning, Victoria University | Sydney, Brisbane | AU$19,100 a semester | Not on the ACS accredited list | Not accepting applications when checked |
| Master of Applied Information Technology, Victoria University | Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane | AU$19,100 a semester | Professional, 2016 to 2028 | Five a year |
| Master of Information Technology (Enterprise Management), Adelaide University | Adelaide City, Mawson Lakes | AU$53,300 a year | Professional, 2026 to 2028 | February, July |
| Master of Data Science, RMIT | Melbourne City | AU$47,040 a year, 2027 rate | Professional | February, July |
The first two rows are the ones to sit with. Same university, same campuses, same price, and only one of them appears on the Australian Computer Society’s accredited courses list. If SAP is what you want, the sensible order is an accredited IT or enterprise-management master’s for the qualification, and SAP certification alongside or after it for the tool.
What does Engineers Australia accreditation actually give you?
It settles in advance that your degree meets the entry standard for the engineering profession, and it decides how much work your skills assessment will be years later. Engineers Australia states the effect plainly in the introduction to its accredited programs list.
A student admitted to a fully accredited program can thus expect their degree to be recognised by Engineers Australia and also by the signatories to the Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accords where applicable.
Those three accords are the three levels the list is organised into. The Washington Accord covers the professional engineer, the Sydney Accord covers the engineering technologist, and the Dublin Accord covers the engineering associate. Almost every Australian bachelor of engineering (honours) and professional master’s sits at the first level. The associate level is where TAFE providers appear, including TAFE Queensland Brisbane, TAFE South Australia, Chisholm Institute and Melbourne Polytechnic.
Three conditions attach to it, and each one costs people time when they miss it.
- Provisional accreditation does not count internationally. Engineers Australia is explicit that programmes “must be fully accredited to be recognised under the international accord agreements” and that “provisionally accredited programs are not recognised under the accords”. The list marks each entry F or P, so you can see which you are looking at.
- Your commencement year is what matters, not your graduation year. You are treated as a graduate of an accredited programme if you commence within the period that full accreditation applies.
- From 1 September 2024, only Engineers Australia accredited qualifications qualify under the Australian pathway of its migration skills assessment. Graduates of fully accredited programmes are deemed to have met the stage 1 competencies, which removes the Competency Demonstration Report. Everyone else writes one.
Does your Indian engineering degree already count in Australia?
Possibly, and the test is narrower than most applicants assume. India has been a full Washington Accord signatory since 2014 through the National Board of Accreditation, and Engineers Australia has been one since 1989, so there is a direct route between the two systems. What it does not do is cover every Indian B.Tech.
The NBA’s own page sets out the limits. India became a permanent signatory on 13 June 2014, and recognition by other signatories applies to “the NBA accredited programs offered by the Tier-1 Institutions”, completed after 13 June 2014 and during the period of validity of that accreditation.
Read against your own degree certificate, that gives you three questions. Was your specific programme NBA accredited, not just your college approved by AICTE. Was it a Tier-1 institution. Did you finish on or after 13 June 2014 and inside the accreditation validity window. If all three are yes, you can go through the Washington Accord pathway. If any is no, you are on the Competency Demonstration Report pathway, which is a much longer piece of work and is the reason Indian engineers are quoted such different timelines for the same visa.
Work this out before you choose an Australian course, not after. An Indian graduate who already clears the Washington Accord test is buying something different from one who does not, and the assessing authority for your occupation decides which of the two you are.
Which engineering degrees in Australia are accredited, and which fields have the most choice?
You cannot work it out from the degree title. The only reliable method is to look your university up in Engineers Australia’s list, and four familiar names show why.
- The University of Melbourne has no accredited bachelor of engineering at all any more. Its eleven accredited professional-engineer awards are all master’s degrees, from the Master of Civil Engineering to the Master of Software Engineering. Its old bachelor entries stop in 2010.
- UNSW accredits the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and the Master of Engineering in a named discipline. Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical and Telecommunications are fully accredited. Biomedical, Mining, Petroleum and Renewable Energy are provisional, so they do not carry accord recognition yet.
- Swinburne accredits its Master of Engineering Science in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Advanced Manufacturing and Electronics and Telecommunications. UNSW’s degree of the same name is not on the list.
- Monash accredits the Bachelor of X Engineering (Honours) plus the Master of Professional X Engineering, with Chemical, Civil and Mechanical full and Electrical and Materials provisional.
The sharpest version of this sits inside one university. UNSW quotes the same indicative international fee for its Master of Engineering and its Master of Engineering Science, A$61,000 for the first year and A$127,000 in total, and the entry requirement is close to identical. Only the first one is accredited by Engineers Australia and includes the 60 days of approved engineering professional practice. Two years and A$127,000 buy materially different things depending on which of those two names is on your offer letter.
One title is worth naming because so many Indian applicants shortlist it. No degree called Master of Engineering Management appears anywhere in the 151 pages of the January 2026 accredited programs list. That does not make it a bad degree, and universities like UTS run a serious one, but it is a management qualification rather than a route to being assessed as a professional engineer. Choose it deliberately, not by accident.
On which field to pick, the accredited list answers a question rankings cannot. Every fully accredited programme meets the same Washington Accord standard, so the real difference between fields is how many universities you can actually apply to. Counting Australian institutions with a currently offered, accredited professional-engineer programme gives this.
| Field | Australian institutions with an accredited programme | What that means for a shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| Civil engineering | 35 | The widest choice in the country, in every state and at every fee level |
| Mechanical engineering | 34 | Almost as wide, and paired with mechatronics at most of them |
| Electrical engineering | 34 | As wide as mechanical, and the base for renewable-energy specialisations |
| Mechatronic engineering | 24 | Strong choice, usually inside a mechanical or electrical school |
| Environmental engineering | 20 | Common as a civil engineering stream rather than a standalone degree |
| Software engineering | 19 | Accredited by Engineers Australia here, and separately by ACS as computing |
| Chemical engineering | 16 | Concentrated in the older research universities |
| Biomedical engineering | 10 | Narrow, and several entries are still provisional |
| Aerospace engineering | 9 | Very narrow, so plan a backup discipline |
| Mining engineering | 7 | The narrowest of the major fields despite Australia’s mining industry |
Counted from Engineers Australia’s January 2026 list, excluding its overseas member institutions. If you want civil or mechanical, your problem is narrowing 35 options down, using rank, city and fee once accreditation has already been settled. If you want aerospace or mining, your problem is the opposite, and a second choice of discipline belongs in the plan from the start. Either way, most accredited engineering in Australia is taught outside the Group of Eight, so a shortlist built only from the famous names leaves out most of the field.
Who accredits computer science, IT, cyber security and data science degrees?
The Australian Computer Society, which describes itself as the official accrediting body for ICT degree courses in Australia and is also appointed by the Australian government to run the migration skills assessment for the ICT industry. One body does both jobs, which is why its list matters more to an Indian applicant than any computer science ranking does.
ACS has been a full signatory of the Seoul Accord, the computing equivalent of the Washington Accord, since 2008. The Seoul Accord signatory list has thirteen full members and India is not one of them, which changes the arithmetic for an Indian IT graduate. An Indian engineering degree can carry cross-border recognition through the Washington Accord. An Indian computing degree has no equivalent, because there is no Indian signatory body to give it one. An ACS-accredited Australian degree therefore moves an Indian IT graduate further than an accredited Australian engineering degree moves an NBA Tier-1 engineer, who already had a route.
The live ACS list runs to 595 accredited courses at 46 Australian institutions, 195 of them master’s degrees. Only two accreditation types appear on it. Professional, which nearly everything carries, and Cybersecurity Professional, the specialist accreditation, which just 22 courses hold across five institutions.
| Institution | Cyber security courses with the specialist accreditation | Accreditation period |
|---|---|---|
| Deakin University | Master of Cyber Security, Master of Cyber Security (Professional), Bachelor of Cyber Security and two double degrees | 2019 to 2029 |
| Edith Cowan University | Master of Cyber Security, Bachelor of Science (Cyber Security) | 2014 to 2030 |
| University of Technology Sydney | Master of Cybersecurity, Master of Cybersecurity (Extension), Bachelor of Cybersecurity and three double degrees | 2022 to 2026 |
| Adelaide University | Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security), Bachelor of Cyber Security and two streams | 2026 to 2028 |
| La Trobe University | Bachelor of Cybersecurity and three double degrees, no master’s | 2022 to 2027 |
If a master’s in cyber security is the goal, that table is your entire shortlist for the specialist credential, and it is four universities long. Everything else marketed as a cyber security master’s in Australia carries the general Professional accreditation at best.
Data science and business analytics behave differently. ACS says it offers a specialist accreditation in data science, but no course on the live list currently carries it, so a data science degree is accredited at Professional level like any other computing degree. RMIT’s Master of Data Science puts the condition in one sentence.
The Master of Data Science is fully accredited at a Professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) for students who commenced study during the period specified on the ACS website.
Years later that accreditation feeds into the skills assessment. Of ACS’s four assessment pathways, an Australian graduate normally uses Post Australian Study, which needs an Australian bachelor’s or higher with an IT, data science or cyber security major plus either 365 days of relevant Australian IT work experience or a completed ACS Professional Year. Published fees from 3 November 2025 are A$625 for Temporary Graduate, A$1,136 for Post Australian Study, A$1,498 for General Skills and A$625 for Recognition of Prior Learning, all excluding GST. Earning that year of work is what a Subclass 485 post-study work visa is for.
ACS will not tell you in advance whether your degree qualifies, because “it is not possible to determine the outcome until an in-depth assessment of qualifications, other educational attainments and work experience has been completed”. It assesses your units and classifies the ICT content as Major, Minor or Insufficient. Nobody can pre-clear that, which is why the accredited list is the closest thing to certainty available before you pay.
How do you check that a course is accredited before you pay a deposit?
Four lookups, none of which take more than a minute, and all four are free. Do them on the exact course code in your offer letter, not on the university name.
- Confirm the course is CRICOS registered. CRICOS is the official Australian Government register of the providers and courses open to people studying in Australia on a student visa, so a course that is not on it is not one you can enrol in on that visa. It is also why SAP certification on its own cannot get you to Australia.
- For engineering, find your university in the Engineers Australia accredited programs list and read the exact programme title, the accreditation years and the F or P status.
- For computing, find your university in the ACS accredited courses list and read the course name, the campus, the accreditation period and the type.
- Check that the year you will start falls inside the accreditation period. This is the step people skip.
Accredited for you = exact course title on the body’s own list, AND your commencement year inside the accreditation period, AND status Full rather than Provisional.
Worked example. You are looking at RMIT’s Master of Data Science for a February 2027 start. CRICOS code 093313B is registered. The ACS list shows RMIT’s Master of Data Science accredited at Professional level with a period covering 2027, so a February 2027 commencement sits inside it. There is no provisional marking. The indicative international fee is AU$47,040 for 2027. That course satisfies all three conditions.
Now run the same three conditions on Western Sydney University’s Master of Information and Communications Technology (Enterprise Management). It is a real course with real ERP content, and its ACS accreditation period is 2015 to 2025. A 2027 start fails the second condition, so the degree would be fine and the accreditation would not follow you. None of that is visible from the course page.
Money and admission are separate questions. Tuition, living costs and the funds the visa itself tests sit with the cost of studying in Australia, and what a three-year Indian bachelor degree gets you under the AQF sits with master’s degrees in Australia.
- Victoria University’s Master of Enterprise Resource Planning is the only Australian master’s with those words in its title, and both its Sydney and Brisbane listings said they were not accepting applications when checked on 23 July 2026.
- That ERP master’s is not on the ACS accredited courses list, while VU’s Master of Applied Information Technology, at the same campuses and the same AU$19,100 a semester, is accredited to 2028 and runs five intakes a year.
- Engineers Australia accreditation removes the Competency Demonstration Report from a later skills assessment, but only full accreditation counts under the Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accords. Provisional does not.
- Your Indian B.Tech carries Washington Accord recognition only if the programme was NBA accredited at a Tier-1 institution and you completed it on or after 13 June 2014, inside the accreditation validity period.
- Degree titles prove nothing. Melbourne accredits only master’s degrees, Swinburne’s Master of Engineering Science is accredited and UNSW’s is not, and no Master of Engineering Management appears anywhere in the January 2026 list.
- UNSW charges the same A$61,000 first year and A$127,000 total for its Master of Engineering and its Master of Engineering Science, and only the first is accredited.
- India has no Seoul Accord signatory body, so an ACS-accredited Australian computing degree changes an Indian IT graduate’s recognition position more than most people realise.
- Only 22 courses at five Australian institutions hold ACS’s specialist Cybersecurity Professional accreditation, and only Deakin, Edith Cowan, UTS and Adelaide University hold it at master’s level.
- Accreditation is keyed to the year you commence, so always check that your start year sits inside the published period before you pay a deposit.
Frequently asked questions
Which university in Australia offers a master of enterprise resource planning?
Victoria University, at its Sydney and Brisbane campuses, under CRICOS codes 103257G and 103278B. It runs two years over four semesters and teaches SAP S/4HANA, Fiori and Analytics Cloud. VU calls it the only course at this level in Australia. Both campus listings showed no open intakes on 23 July 2026.
Is an ERP or SAP course in Australia worth it for an Indian student?
Only if the degree would still be worth the fee without the SAP content. SAP certification is sold directly by SAP, sits online and needs no visa, so it is the cheaper half to buy separately. The Australian qualification and post-study work rights are the part that requires being there.
Is there a difference between an ERP course and an enterprise research planning course?
No. Enterprise research planning is a common mistyping of enterprise resource planning, and both terms return the same Australian degree. ERP is simply the abbreviation. Whichever spelling you search, the courses on offer are the Victoria University master’s and the enterprise-management streams inside broader IT master’s degrees.
Which are the best universities in Australia for computer science?
A more useful test than a ranking is the ACS accredited courses list, which covers 595 courses at 46 Australian institutions including Melbourne, Monash, UNSW, UTS, RMIT and Deakin. Every course on it meets the same Seoul Accord standard, so choose on specialisation, city, fee and intake rather than on position.
Is a Master of Information Technology in Australia accredited?
Many are, but not all, and it is course by course rather than university by university. The University of Melbourne, UTS and Victoria University all hold ACS accreditation for their postgraduate IT degrees. Check the exact course name and the accreditation period on the ACS accredited courses list before you accept an offer.
Which Australian universities are best for a master’s in cyber security?
For ACS’s specialist Cybersecurity Professional accreditation at master’s level, the list is four institutions. Deakin University, Edith Cowan University, the University of Technology Sydney and Adelaide University. Other Australian cyber security master’s degrees carry the general Professional accreditation instead, which is still recognised under the Seoul Accord.
Is a data science course in Australia recognised internationally?
Yes, where ACS has accredited it, because ACS is a Seoul Accord signatory. RMIT’s Master of Data Science is accredited at Professional level, at AU$47,040 a year for 2027. No Australian course currently holds ACS’s specialist data science accreditation, so Professional level is the standard to look for.
Is a Master of Engineering Management in Australia accredited by Engineers Australia?
No degree with that title appears in Engineers Australia’s January 2026 accredited programs list. It is a management qualification rather than a route to assessment as a professional engineer. If registration or a Washington Accord skills assessment is your goal, choose an accredited engineering master’s instead.
Where can you study civil or mechanical engineering in Australia?
Very widely. Engineers Australia’s January 2026 list shows accredited professional-engineer programmes in civil engineering at 35 Australian institutions and mechanical at 34, in every state. Compare that with mining at seven and aerospace at nine, where a second choice of discipline is worth planning for.
Is business analytics in Australia treated as an IT degree or a business degree?
It depends on the course, which is why it matters. ACS accredits several business analytics master’s degrees as computing qualifications, including at the Melbourne Institute of Technology. If it is not on the ACS list, treat it as a business degree and expect its ICT content to be assessed unit by unit later.
