This is the Griffith course with an actual answer for a non-computing graduate, and the answer is priced. Griffith publishes a Two Year Computing Masters Pathway: a Higher Diploma in Computing first, then this MSc, with a 50% scholarship on the second year. Budget about INR 48.62 lakh if you enter the master’s directly.

Direct entry wants a computing degree at 2.2, and that’s the line that catches most Indian applicants. QQI compares a three-year BCA, BSc or BCom with NFQ Level 7 and a four-year BE or BTech with Level 8. If you’re on the wrong side of it, the two-year pathway is the route Griffith has actually built and priced, not a consolation prize.

How much does Big Data MSc cost for an Indian student?

The upper twelve-month plan is EUR 44,185, about INR 48.62 lakh. It combines EUR 16,000 tuition, EUR 1,075 in currently listed compulsory charges, the upper EUR 27,050 Dublin postgraduate living estimate and a EUR 60 single-entry visa. Euro figures are the stable budgeting basis because exchange rates don’t stay fixed. The immigration floor proves funds, not cost.

The EUR 10,000 immigration finance floor is evidence for a visa file, not a realistic estimate of one year in Dublin. Converted at EUR 1 = INR 110.0485, the ECB reference rate for 1 September 2026. Payment-provider rates differ. A refundable housing deposit and any instalment charge affect cash flow but are not treated as consumed programme cost.

Griffith’s central schedule lists EUR 16,000 tuition and EUR 1,075 in compulsory charges for this programme type. The live fee pages aren’t fully consistent on every label. The final amount must come from the offer and invoice.

The published EUR 2,000 standard master’s bursary would bring tuition plus listed charges to EUR 15,075 if it appears in the offer. Deduct it only after written confirmation, and keep the gross figure available for planning.

The Dublin allowance uses Trinity’s EUR 21,050 to EUR 27,050 postgraduate range because Griffith has no complete annual budget. Big Data students should also confirm any laptop, cloud-computing or specialist-software cost that is not shown in the central fee schedule.

A written Griffith reply should state the amount due for this offer, which part is non-refundable, which payment supports the visa letter and which refund policy applies. The immigration rule requires at least EUR 6,000 of tuition to be paid when fees exceed EUR 6,000.

Term-time work cannot safely close a funding gap. Stamp 2 permits limited hours, but the role, hourly rate and number of shifts are uncertain, while tuition evidence is required before arrival.

Can an Indian applicant meet the Big Data MSc entry rules?

Direct entry is a 2.2 Level 8 honours degree in Computing Science, or a 2.2 Higher Diploma in Computing, or a related discipline with relevant work experience, per the course page. The line that catches most Indian applicants is not the grade, it is the level: QQI normally compares a three-year Indian bachelor’s degree with NFQ Level 7.

Send the transcript with module titles and credit values. The entry decision turns on whether your degree was computing enough, and a marks sheet without subject names cannot answer that.

If you are coming from a three-year BCA or BSc, ask Griffith in writing which of the two routes they are putting you on before you pay anything. The pathway is a two-year commitment and it should be a decision, not a surprise in an offer letter.

   Year one is the Higher Diploma in Science in Computing, whose entry rule is a Level 8 honours degree in any discipline, and whose modules run from Computer Programming and Discrete Mathematics through Relational Databases and Object Oriented Development. Year two is this MSc at half price. It is two years and two sets of living costs, and it is a published route rather than a maybe.

2. Lectures are validated at one lecturer to 120 learners

   QQI’s approved learner-to-teacher ratios for this programme are 1:120 for lectures, 1:40 for tutorials and 1:1 for dissertation supervision. The tutorial and supervision numbers are ordinary. The lecture number is worth knowing before you arrive expecting seminar-style teaching, and it is the figure to weigh against any “small class sizes” line you read elsewhere on a college website.

3. You can leave with a Postgraduate Diploma and come back for the dissertation

   Pass the eight taught modules and skip the 30 ECTS dissertation and the award is a Postgraduate Diploma in Big Data Management and Analytics, 60 ECTS at Level 9, with the dissertation available later. That is a genuine safety net and it is not on every course in this set. It also has a cost, because a Level 9 Diploma and a Level 9 master’s are not read the same way by an employer or by an immigration officer.

How should an Indian applicant apply for Big Data MSc?

Griffith displays September 2026 and February 2027 but publishes no single final programme deadline. The timeline uses 31 October 2026 as an Nbyula complete-file target for February 2027, not a Griffith deadline. Visa-required applicants are advised to apply at least three months before the programme begins. The award sits at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Apply through Griffith's international form with the passport, degree certificate, full transcripts, English result, CV and any requested statement or project evidence. A non-computing or three-year degree should receive a written programme-specific subject and level review first.

Griffith gives short typical decision estimates for complete online files, but a cognate-subject or prior-learning review can take longer. A submission confirmation is not evidence that the computing background has been accepted.

Module descriptions, project summaries and work evidence can show programming and data preparation. When English testing or an eligibility exception is pending, an intake review is safer than a generic countdown.

Griffith needs to state the final file date, payment date, teaching start and late-arrival rule. The academic calendar’s registration window cannot be used as permission to submit an overseas application late.

No cloud vendor certification is included and none of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud is named as a taught platform. If a vendor badge is part of your plan, budget for it separately.

Who should apply for Big Data MSc, and who should not?

This has two honest audiences: a four-year engineering or computing graduate going in directly, and a non-computing graduate willing to spend two years via the Higher Diploma in Computing first. Everyone else is squeezing into a route Griffith hasn’t built for them.

The useful test is your transcript, not your job title. Count the credits you hold in programming, databases, mathematics and statistics, and send that list with the application. It decides both whether you get in and which of the two routes you are offered.

If the aim is analytics with a business frame rather than engineering, the MSc in Accounting and Finance Management or the MBA at the same college are different products entirely, and neither expects a computing transcript.

What does the 90 ECTS Big Data MSc contain?

Eight taught modules across two semesters make up 60 ECTS, then a twelve-week dissertation worth 30 ECTS, supervised one to one. Passing the taught stage alone earns a Postgraduate Diploma at 60 ECTS, which you can leave with and return to finish later.

This is a computing curriculum, not a business degree with one analytics module. Compare your transcript with the programming, database, cloud, machine-learning and data-analysis demands. Griffith does not publish minimum prior hours for those topics, so a non-computing applicant needs a written subject-fit review.

The final 30 ECTS stage can be completed as a dissertation or dissertation by practice. Neither route is a published internship or paid placement. Whether the practice option requires the learner to source an industry problem is unpublished. The QQI review records at least 12 face-to-face supervision hours per learner, while current allocations remain unpublished.

A 60 ECTS Postgraduate Diploma in Science is named as an embedded exit in the validation record. It is a different award from the 90 ECTS MSc. Its exact academic and immigration consequences are unpublished and must be established before it becomes a fallback.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist Big Data MSc?

Shortlist this if your degree is computing enough for direct entry, or if you’ve looked at the two-year pathway and the total still works. The technical content is real, and the entry decision is the part that needs settling in writing first, against the published fee schedule.

Eight taught modules cover big data management, big data analytics, cloud platforms, data mining and machine learning, applied data science, parallel and distributed programming, deep learning and generative AI, and research methods, then a 12-week dissertation worth 30 ECTS. The programme was revalidated by QQI for five years from May 2025 with no conditions attached.

The published non-EU fee sits on a schedule Griffith labels for the September 2025 intake onwards, and no 2026/27 postgraduate schedule has been published. Griffith has separately published a September 2026 fee information pack, so the postgraduate schedule is the older of its own two documents. Treat EUR 16,000 as current-as-published and get the February 2027 figure in writing.
