A 5-year MBBS in Malaysia isn’t an assured route back to medical registration in India, even when the course has Malaysian accreditation. An Indian student who plans to practise in India should settle the separate 12-month post-course internship and Malaysian licence questions before comparing fees. Before paying a deposit, obtain written evidence of the complete course location, the internship at the same institution, and the right to obtain the Malaysian registration or licence available to a Malaysian graduate.
The six-programme comparison below joins each exact Malaysian Qualifications Agency record to its course structure, current fee basis and professional training position. The assessments use official material available on 12 August 2026 and are not recognition rulings by NMC.
Why can a five-year Malaysian medicine degree still fail the NMC duration test?
A five-year medicine degree can meet the 54-month study minimum and still fall short because NMC requires a separate 12-month internship after the course. The NMC FAQ on the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations says the internship is in addition to the course and must be completed at the same foreign medical institution.
Minimum foreign route = 54 months of medical study + 12 months of internship at the same foreign institution
A simple example shows the difference. Sixty months of lectures, clinical postings and assessments within a five-year degree can clear the first 54-month requirement. Those clinical postings do not automatically become the extra 12-month internship. The university must provide and certify the distinct internship after the academic course.
Minimum 54 months of education in a single institution. 12-month internship to be completed at the same foreign university.
National Medical Commission, 2026 advisory on foreign medical education
The NMC conditions apply together. A programme cannot compensate for a missing internship with a longer academic course, and passing the Indian screening examination does not repair a course or training route that fails an earlier condition.
| Requirement | Evidence to obtain | What the evidence settles |
|---|---|---|
| At least 54 months of medical study | Academic calendar, curriculum and award dates | Whether the course leading to the degree meets the study-duration minimum |
| English throughout the programme | Medium-of-instruction letter for every academic and clinical part | Whether the course meets NMC’s language condition |
| Required subjects and clinical training | Detailed syllabus, rotation list, logbook and assessment plan | Whether the content is comparable with the Indian MBBS requirements |
| Separate 12-month foreign internship | Written placement terms and a certificate issued by the same institution | Whether the post-course internship exists in the required form |
| The same institution throughout | The institution responsible for every academic, clinical and internship period | Whether the student changes institution at any stage |
| No training in another country | A complete list of teaching, clinical, elective and internship locations | Whether any compulsory period crosses a national border |
| Local registration or licence eligibility | Written regulator evidence for a non-Malaysian graduate | Whether the graduate can obtain the local right required by NMC |
The 54-month rule applies to the education that leads to the medical degree. The separate internship then needs hands-on training in the clinical subjects named in the NMC framework. English-medium teaching and a familiar MBBS title don’t remove the need to preserve the detailed syllabus, clinical logbook and rotation record.
NMC states two cumulative location conditions. The student remains with the same foreign medical institution throughout, and no part of the medical training or internship takes place in another country. Compulsory electives and clinical attachments belong in this location record. The offer and curriculum should account for every required month rather than only the campus named in the course title.
NMC also places a ten-year ceiling on completing the foreign medical course and internship from the date of joining. A repeat year, delayed internship or wait for an unavailable housemanship place can consume that period. The time between the final academic examination and the internship start is therefore a regulatory and financial concern, not just a graduation delay.
Can an Indian graduate complete housemanship in Malaysia?
A non-Malaysian graduate can’t treat Malaysian housemanship as guaranteed. Housemanship is the supervised graduate training used for provisional registration in Malaysia. The Malaysian Medical Council procedure endorsed on 20 January 2026 requires a non-Malaysian graduate of a recognised local training institution to have an employment offer from the relevant public authority for housemanship at an approved hospital.
Have received an offer of employment to undergo housemanship by the public authorities.
Malaysian Medical Council, provisional registration procedure for other non-Malaysians
That requirement creates two different questions. The first asks whether MMC recognises the qualification. The second asks whether an Indian graduate will receive the public employment offer, provisional registration and a housemanship place. A recognised qualification doesn’t answer the employment question.
| Programme | What the university states | Consequence for an Indian applicant |
|---|---|---|
| IMU University medicine | International students are presently unable to undertake housemanship in Malaysia, and IMU does not guarantee an internship placement. | The ordinary Malaysian graduate-training stage is unavailable on the current published terms. |
| Monash University Malaysia medicine | International graduates are currently unable to undertake housemanship in Malaysia. | A well-documented medical degree still lacks the Malaysian graduate-training route the Indian rules may require. |
| Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia | International graduates are not eligible for the Malaysian pre-registration internship. | The applicant needs an alternative route accepted by the relevant regulators. |
MMC’s process separates provisional registration from full registration. Provisional registration allows the supervised graduate-training stage, while full registration follows the required training and statutory steps. An international student needs access to the first stage before the later Malaysian registration outcome can even be assessed.
MMC’s current Examination for Provisional Registration page publishes narrow non-citizen categories, including postgraduate study and certain permanent-resident or Malaysian-spouse routes for housemanship or work. An Indian applicant outside those categories should ask MMC how the exact degree and immigration status affect examination and provisional-registration eligibility.
Do MQA accreditation and MMC recognition mean a degree is recognised in India?
No. MQA accreditation and MMC recognition are necessary Malaysian checks, but neither is an Indian registration decision. MQA records the status of an exact programme at an exact location. MMC’s Second Schedule of recognised medical qualifications identifies qualifications accepted within Malaysia’s statutory medical framework.
Accreditation is granted BASED ON THE LOCATION where the programme is conducted by the HEP unless stated otherwise.
Malaysian Qualifications Agency, Search for Qualifications
An MQR result should match the exact qualification title, provider, campus address, delivery location, reference number and accreditation period. The result settles only the Malaysian programme status shown in that record. Graduate registration and training sit with MMC, while Indian registration sits with NMC and the appropriate Indian council.
NMC states that it does not endorse any list of foreign medical institutions or universities. An “NMC approved university” label has no official list behind it.
| Evidence | What it proves | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Matching MQR record | Malaysian accreditation for the named qualification and location shown | Housemanship access, Malaysian registration or Indian registration |
| Qualification in MMC’s Second Schedule | Recognition of the named basic medical qualification in Malaysia’s framework | A public employment offer or automatic provisional registration for a non-Malaysian |
| University statement about clinical training | The teaching sites and rotations described by the programme | A distinct 12-month post-course internship accepted under the NMC rules |
| Written NMC or registration-authority response | The authority’s position on the exact facts submitted | A permanent promise that later regulations or examination requirements will not change |
| “NMC approved” marketing label | No official NMC list status | Any individual graduate’s eligibility for registration in India |
The exact address is particularly important for medicine because clinical teaching may move away from the university’s main campus. UCSI medicine is based at Springhill in Port Dickson, not at UCSI’s Kuala Lumpur campus. Monash begins at Bandar Sunway and later uses its Johor Bahru clinical school. The MQR record and the course location schedule answer different parts of the same programme check.
Accreditation dates also need careful reading. The date shown in MQR is a current register fact, not an assurance that the status will remain unchanged for every future intake. A student joining a five-year course should save the record used at admission and monitor any renewal. An accreditation period that ends before expected graduation calls for a fresh register check, not an unsupported conclusion that the degree will cease to exist.
MMC’s qualification list works at the award level, while provisional registration works at the individual graduate level. The award may appear in the Second Schedule and the applicant may still lack the employment offer needed to start housemanship. Keeping those two MMC decisions separate prevents Malaysian recognition from being overstated as automatic access to practice.
The programme-level MQR method also applies across the broader comparison of universities in Malaysia. Medicine then adds the MMC and NMC checks because the general UGC foreign-qualification route does not govern professional medical registration.
Which medicine programmes in Malaysia can an Indian student compare?
The six-course sample covers a public university, Malaysian private routes, foreign branch campuses and a two-country programme. The matrix compares their published facts rather than ranking them.
| Programme and MQA record | Published structure and current tuition | India-return evidence assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Universiti Malaya MBBS, MQA/FA2525, Kuala Lumpur. Accreditation shown from 24 February 2023 to 23 February 2028. | Five years, with clinical learning at University Malaya Medical Centre. The 2025/26 international programme total is RM673,200, excluding accommodation. | The study duration is documented. The post-course internship and non-Malaysian housemanship position remain undocumented on the pages examined. |
| IMU University MBBS, MQA/FA6155, Bukit Jalil. Accreditation shown from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2030. | Five years and ten semesters. The local-track international tuition is RM692,680 before 6% SST and separate application, registration, administration, visa and deposit charges. | IMU says international students are presently unable to undertake Malaysian housemanship. Its overseas partner route adds changes of institution, country and possibly award. |
| Monash Malaysia BMedSci and MD, MQA/FA5833, Bandar Sunway. Accreditation shown from 26 March 2023 to 25 March 2028. | Five years. Years 3 to 5 are based in Johor Bahru and the final year includes a compulsory three-month Australian attachment. The 2026 fee is RM138,720 per year. | The Australian attachment conflicts on its face with the NMC same-country condition. Monash also says international graduates cannot currently undertake Malaysian housemanship. |
| NUMed MBBS Honours, MQA/FA12045, Iskandar Puteri. Accreditation shown from 14 November 2024 to 13 November 2029. | Five years taught in Malaysia, with the award conferred by Newcastle University in the UK. The 2026 annual charge is RM139,920 including SST. | NUMed says international graduates are not eligible for Malaysian pre-registration internship. The UK award creates a further award-country and local-licence question for NMC. |
| UCSI University Doctor of Medicine, MQA/FA4671, Springhill campus. Accreditation shown from 12 May 2026 to 11 May 2029. | Five years at Springhill beside UCSI Hospital. The fee sheet updated 8 June 2026 gives a published international total of RM532,524 after its listed administrative charges. | The five-year local course is clear. The official pages examined do not state how an Indian graduate enters the later regulated training. |
| RCSI and UCD Malaysia Campus MB BCh BAO, MQA/FA4397, Penang. Accreditation shown from 4 April 2024 to 3 April 2027. | Five years split between 2.5 years in Dublin and 2.5 years in Penang. The programme page gives international tuition of EUR155,000 plus one-time charges. | The compulsory Ireland and Malaysia split conflicts directly with the same-country condition. The National University of Ireland award adds an award-country licensing question. |
Accreditation periods should be checked against the intake, but an end date inside a five-year course is not proof that the student’s award will become invalid. It means the live record and any renewed accreditation need to be checked for the cohort before payment and again while the student is enrolled.
The Universiti Malaya figure is a 2025/26 programme amount, so it should not be presented as a 2026/27 quote. Monash and NUMed publish annual charges that may be reviewed each year. RUMC publishes in euro. These bases should remain separate instead of being compressed into one misleading fee range.
IMU needs an earlier route decision than its single MBBS name suggests. The local track continues through IMU’s Malaysian clinical network, while the partner route moves the student to another institution overseas and can lead to a partner award. A student considering IMU should obtain the exact track in the offer because the two routes create different regulatory facts.
Monash awards a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, UCSI awards a Doctor of Medicine, NUMed awards MBBS Honours and RUMC awards MB BCh BAO. Record the title from the offer because the regulator assesses the education behind that qualification, not whether its name resembles an Indian MBBS.
Why do cross-border medicine programmes need an NMC decision?
An NMC decision is needed because a cross-border programme can change the institution, training country, awarding country or all three. The NMC FMGL FAQ says the entire course, training and internship must remain in the same foreign medical institution and that no part may occur in another country.
| Route | Published movement or award | Question that needs an NMC answer |
|---|---|---|
| Monash University Malaysia | A compulsory three-month clinical attachment in Australia | Whether a compulsory Australian clinical period is compatible with the same-country condition |
| IMU partner-school route | The student continues at an overseas partner and may receive the partner’s award | Whether the changes of institution and country prevent the route from satisfying FMGL |
| NUMed | Training takes place in Malaysia and Newcastle University in the UK awards the degree | Which country controls the local-licence requirement and how the unavailable Malaysian internship is treated |
| RUMC | Half the course is in Ireland and half is in Malaysia, with a National University of Ireland award | Whether the mandatory two-country course can satisfy a rule that requires one country |
Monash’s Australian attachment is compulsory rather than an optional exchange. RUMC’s Ireland and Malaysia split defines the course itself. Those facts are visible before admission, so the same-country question can be raised before a family commits money rather than discovered at registration years later.
NUMed presents a less obvious variation. The student remains in Malaysia for the five-year course, yet a UK university confers the award. NMC links local licence eligibility to the country where the medical degree is awarded, while NUMed states that international graduates cannot use Malaysia’s pre-registration internship. The awarding-country and internship questions therefore need to be answered together.
An elective that the student chooses voluntarily should also be disclosed, but the most serious evidence concerns required movements. The university should state which periods are compulsory for graduation and which are optional. NMC or the registration authority can then assess the actual route rather than a marketing summary.
A written university answer can establish where teaching happens and who awards the qualification. The university cannot decide registration in India. Any programme that crosses a border or separates the teaching country from the awarding country needs the complete written structure placed before NMC or the appropriate registration authority.
How much does medicine in Malaysia cost for an Indian student?
The published tuition in this sample ranges from a RM532,524 programme total at UCSI to annual charges of RM138,720 at Monash and RM139,920 at NUMed, but those numbers use different fee periods. A fair comparison preserves each university’s basis and adds SST, deposits, visa charges, insurance and any internship cost only where the official schedule states them.
MYR conversions use Bank Negara Malaysia reference data for 10 August 2026, when INR100 equalled RM4.2926. That works out to RM1 equalling about INR23.30. It is a planning rate, not a remittance quote.
Approximate rupee value = official MYR amount × INR23.30
For example, UCSI’s published RM532,524 total multiplied by 23.30 is about INR1.24 crore. The calculation doesn’t turn the fee sheet into an all-inclusive cost. The student’s invoice still needs to show SST treatment, conditional charges, visa payments and what happens if the professional route becomes unavailable.
| Programme | Official fee basis | Published amount | Approximate INR at dated rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Universiti Malaya MBBS | 2025/26 listed programme total | RM673,200 | INR1.57 crore |
| IMU local MBBS | RM69,268 per semester for ten semesters, before 6% SST | RM692,680 | INR1.61 crore before SST |
| Monash Malaysia medicine | 2026 annual tuition | RM138,720 per year | INR32.32 lakh for one year at this rate |
| NUMed MBBS Honours | 2026 annual base tuition plus SST | RM139,920 per year | INR32.60 lakh for one year at this rate |
| UCSI Doctor of Medicine | Published total in fee sheet updated 8 June 2026 | RM532,524 | INR1.24 crore |
| RUMC undergraduate medicine | Programme-page international tuition total | EUR155,000 | Not converted because the MYR rate does not apply |
Medicine tuition evidence checked on 12 August 2026
An annual fee is not a guaranteed five-year total. Multiplying Monash’s 2026 annual amount by five gives RM693,600, but the university can revise later years and the result should not be published as a contractual programme price. The same caution applies to NUMed, whose finance information refers to the first-year fee while also reserving annual review.
IMU’s ten-semester total sits before SST and several named charges. UCSI’s published total includes tuition, medical-facility charges and listed administrative items, which makes it broader than a tuition-only figure.
A later internship start extends the visa and living budget beyond classroom teaching. Rent, insurance, immigration status and travel during the interval can become a sixth-year cash requirement even when the university advertises a five-year course. The institution should state whether any internship fee and waiting-period costs sit outside the academic schedule.
The full cost of studying and living in Malaysia adds housing, food, transport and other family spending. The Malaysia Student Pass and EMGS process adds visa, insurance, medical screening and endorsement costs. Neither budget should assume that part-time student work will fund a medical degree.
Medicine is excluded from the preferred health field in the 2026 Malaysia International Scholarship rules. A separate university tuition award may still exist, but the scholarship terms for Malaysian study must be matched to medicine, nationality, intake and uncovered costs rather than subtracted from tuition as a general discount.
What do Indian Class XII students need for medicine admission in Malaysia?
Indian admission requirements vary by programme, while NEET remains a separate Indian pre-admission requirement for students who may return to register in India. Passing NEET can support eligibility to begin a foreign medical course under the rules for that admission year. It does not correct a later problem with internship, location, curriculum or local licensing.
The NMC NEET section and the current screening-test information state that Indian and OCI students beginning a primary medical qualification abroad must qualify NEET under the applicable framework. A Malaysian university may add its own science marks, admissions test, interview and English evidence.
| Programme | Published academic or selection evidence | Freshness caution |
|---|---|---|
| Universiti Malaya MBBS | Routes include A-level AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, IB 36, and high foundation or degree thresholds. | MSAT was required for 2026/27, but the published registration and test dates have passed. The next cycle needs a fresh check. |
| IMU local MBBS | The Indian pre-university route asks for a 70% overall average in the stated science subjects and a NEET pass, alongside other selection conditions. | The live offer must state whether the applicant enters the local route or an overseas partner route. |
| Monash Malaysia medicine | The India guide gives 80% for ISC and 85% for AISSC. Selection also uses ISAT, a multiple mini interview and English requirements. | Thresholds and test windows are intake-specific. |
| NUMed MBBS Honours | AISSCE or ISC applicants need 80% across the top five subjects and 80% in Biology and Chemistry. The page also asks for the relevant NMC eligibility documents and NEET. | Admission evidence does not settle the later India registration route. |
| UCSI Doctor of Medicine | The Indian route asks for NMC eligibility evidence, NEET, 70% in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, plus an interview and other conditions. | The requirements and fee schedule should match the exact intake. |
The marks in this table are not directly comparable. IMU and UCSI state 70% science routes for the named Indian qualification, while NUMed uses 80% across the top five and in Biology and Chemistry. Monash distinguishes ISC from AISSC and adds ISAT plus an interview. Each threshold belongs to its own selection system rather than a national Malaysian minimum.
Universiti Malaya adds a timing problem for a future applicant. MSAT was a prerequisite for the 2026/27 cycle, but the dates published on the research date had already passed. A 2027 applicant should wait for the next official cycle instead of shifting the old dates forward by one year.
An Indian Class XII percentage should not be converted into another qualification scale without the university’s own rule. The offer letter should name the programme, campus, award, route and every admission condition. A transfer or partner option should not be accepted as an informal variation of the local course because it changes the later regulatory assessment.
What is the current India registration sequence after a Malaysian medical degree?
The current route is a sequence of foreign-study, foreign-internship, examination, Indian-internship and registration requirements. FMGE was still operating in June 2026, while NExT remained deferred under NMC’s 13 July 2023 notice. A student entering a five-year programme now will follow the examination and regulations in force years later, not a university promise about today’s test.
| Step | What must happen | Evidence to keep |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The student meets the current Indian pre-admission and NEET conditions before joining abroad. | NEET scorecard and the eligibility documents that applied to the admission year |
| 2 | The student completes at least 54 months of medical education in English with the required subjects and clinical training. | Enrolment dates, syllabus, transcripts, medium letter and clinical logbooks |
| 3 | The student completes a separate 12-month internship at the same foreign medical institution and in the same country. | Internship offer, training-site list, rotation logbook and completion certificate |
| 4 | The graduate becomes eligible for local registration or a medical licence on terms comparable with a citizen of the awarding country. | Written regulator decision and registration or licence evidence |
| 5 | The graduate clears the screening examination or other test prescribed by NMC at that time. | The NBEMS examination result and pass-certificate documents |
| 6 | The graduate completes at least 12 months of supervised internship in India. | State allotment, attendance, assessment and completion record |
| 7 | The graduate applies to the appropriate State Medical Council for registration. | Registration application and the council’s decision |
The foreign and Indian internships are cumulative. The foreign 12 months satisfy the FMGL education and training conditions, while the later Indian internship supports registration in India. An FMGE pass certificate alone is not a State Medical Council registration certificate.
NBEMS uses its own identity and document-verification process before issuing the FMGE pass certificate. The graduate then applies through the relevant Indian authorities for internship and registration. A university statement about eligibility to write FMGE leaves those later actions unstated.
The local-licence condition applies before the Indian test is treated as the complete answer. NMC requires the graduate to be registered or otherwise eligible for a licence in the jurisdiction of the awarding country on terms comparable with a citizen. A route that trains in Malaysia, awards from another country and excludes the graduate from Malaysian housemanship needs a precise authority response on that condition.
The current June 2026 NMC FAQ for specified COVID-19 and war-affected batches does not create a general relaxation for a new entrant. A student starting in 2026 should plan against the ordinary FMGL conditions rather than assuming that exceptional arrangements for earlier disrupted cohorts will remain available.
The NMC notice dated 13 July 2023 deferred NExT. NBEMS then published and administered the FMGE June 2026 session. This evidence supports FMGE as the operational examination at the page’s research date, not as a promise about the year in which a new student will graduate.
The full sequence matters even if the examination name changes. Course duration, the institution and country record, foreign internship documents and local registration evidence are created while the student is abroad. A later Indian examination can test the graduate, but it cannot recreate missing records from the foreign course.
What should an Indian applicant get in writing before paying a deposit?
The written file should connect the admission offer to every country, institution, clinical site, internship and regulator involved. A generic claim of global recognition does not answer these programme-specific questions.
- The offer should state the exact awarding institution, award title, campus and intake.
- The university should list every country used for compulsory teaching, electives, clerkships and clinical attachments.
- The academic calendar should separate the course leading to the degree from the post-course internship.
- The university should state whether it provides a continuous 12-month internship after the final examination.
- The internship letter should name the institution that issues the certificate and every hospital used for rotations.
- The university and MMC should state whether an Indian graduate can obtain provisional registration and housemanship under the current non-Malaysian procedure.
- The reply should identify who provides the public-authority employment offer for housemanship.
- A partner or transfer route should identify every change of institution, country, award and regulator.
- The fee schedule should state what is fixed, what may rise, what SST applies to and what is refundable.
- A cross-border or foreign-award route should receive a written NMC or registration-authority view on the complete facts.
A family can keep the offer, MQR record, MMC qualification entry, curriculum, fee schedule and every written regulator reply in one folder. The same record should grow during study with transcripts, clinical logbooks, medium-of-instruction evidence and internship documents. Programme pages and rules can change over a five-year course, while the saved documents show the route the student actually completed.
The best university reply names the responsible office and cites the rule on which it relies. An admissions agent’s assurance or a brochure statement about worldwide recognition is not equivalent to a registrar, medical faculty or regulator response.
The offer should state whether the application fee, seat deposit and tuition instalment are refundable if the Student Pass, housemanship or regulator position changes. These terms determine how much money remains at risk while a regulator question is unresolved.
The wider study in Malaysia decision covers the course, cost and visa factors shared with other subjects.
- A five-year medicine course can satisfy the 54-month study minimum and still lack the separate 12-month foreign internship required by NMC.
- MQA accreditation proves the Malaysian status of the exact programme and location, not automatic recognition in India.
- MMC recognition of a qualification does not guarantee a non-Malaysian graduate the public employment offer needed for housemanship.
- IMU, Monash Malaysia and NUMed publish direct warnings about housemanship or pre-registration internship access for international graduates.
- Monash, the IMU partner route, NUMed and RUMC add country, institution or awarding-body questions that need written NMC treatment.
- Current tuition evidence ranges from programme totals to annual fees, so fee periods, SST and additional charges must remain visible.
- NEET supports eligibility to start a foreign medical course but does not guarantee later registration in India.
- The foreign internship, Indian screening examination, supervised Indian internship and State Medical Council registration are separate requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Is MBBS in Malaysia recognised by NMC?
NMC does not endorse a list of foreign medical universities. Recognition depends on the graduate satisfying the complete current route, including course duration, a separate internship at the same foreign institution, English and subject requirements, one-country training, local licence eligibility, the prescribed Indian examination and supervised internship in India.
Does MQA accreditation make a Malaysian medical degree valid in India?
No. MQA accreditation confirms the Malaysian status of the exact programme and location recorded in MQR. Indian medical registration follows NMC rules and the relevant registration authority’s decision. A matching MQR record is useful evidence, but it does not prove housemanship access, local licence eligibility or Indian registration.
Can Indian medical graduates do housemanship in Malaysia?
Housemanship is not a dependable entitlement for an Indian graduate. MMC’s January 2026 procedure requires a non-Malaysian graduate from a recognised local institution to have a public-authority employment offer. IMU, Monash Malaysia and NUMed also publish warnings that international graduates cannot currently use their normal Malaysian housemanship or pre-registration routes.
Is a five-year medical degree enough for Indian registration?
Not by itself. Five years can clear NMC’s minimum 54 months of medical education, but the rules also require a distinct 12-month internship at the same foreign medical institution. Clinical rotations inside the degree cannot simply be counted again as the separate post-course internship.
Is Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia suitable for an Indian student?
NUMed offers a five-year course taught in Malaysia, but Newcastle University in the UK awards the degree and NUMed says international graduates are not eligible for Malaysia’s pre-registration internship. An Indian applicant needs written NMC treatment of the awarding-country, local-licence, internship and same-country conditions before paying a deposit.
How much are MBBS fees in Malaysia for Indian students?
The official examples use different fee bases. UCSI publishes RM532,524 as a programme total, IMU publishes RM692,680 before SST for ten semesters, and Monash publishes RM138,720 per year for 2026. Compare the same fee period and add SST, visa, insurance, deposits, living costs and any internship charge.
Do Indian students need NEET for medicine in Malaysia?
Indian and OCI students who want the Indian return route must qualify NEET under the applicable pre-admission framework. The Malaysian university may also require science marks, an admissions test, English evidence and an interview. NEET settles only the pre-admission Indian condition and does not guarantee future registration.
Will FMGE still apply when a new student graduates?
No one can promise the examination name years in advance. FMGE remained operational in June 2026, while NExT was deferred under the latest located implementation notice. A student should protect the durable course, internship, country and licence conditions now, then follow the screening examination prescribed when applying for Indian registration.
