What is the MIC Bachelor of Arts?

The programme offers 14 Year 1 subjects across business, humanities, languages, media, mathematics, music, psychology and theology. Flexibility is real at entry, but the six subject groups restrict which two subjects can continue together from Year 2. The decision depends on the published curriculum, exact entry rule and live intake rather than the programme title alone.

The University of Limerick awards the degree. MIC states that up to 300 places are available, but it does not publish a separate non-EU seat count, a 2027 deadline or a programme-level graduate employment rate. Planning starts from INR 27.85 lakh for the first-year plan. This covers tuition, IT levy and MIC living estimate.

How much does the MIC Bachelor of Arts cost?

A first-year planning total is EUR 25,073, approximately INR 27.85 lakh. It combines 2026/27 non-EU tuition, the annual IT levy and MIC’s published nine-month living estimate, but it is not a guaranteed four-year total. It separates verified charges from costs that MIC has not fixed.

INR values use EUR 1 = INR 111.0585, the European Central Bank reference rate dated 28 August 2026. Insurance, immigration, travel, deposits and personal spending are excluded.

MIC reviews fees annually, so multiplying the first-year amount by four would create a false fixed total. The EUR 45 graduation levy applies in the final year and is not included in the first-year plan.

The living estimate is a planning figure, not a bill. Actual rent and spending depend on accommodation, travel and lifestyle. Year 3 placement or study abroad can also change the cost profile.

The institution is separately identified in the Research Organization Registry, and the award level is read against Ireland’s National Framework of Qualifications. INR comparisons use the dated European Central Bank reference rate, not a future remittance promise. For an eligible in-country route, Irish immigration states the finance rule directly:

This isn’t evidence that the published budget will cover every student’s actual spending, doesn’t replace the offer letter and won’t make a current rate a future remittance promise. The visa authority also defines its charge narrowly:

The Embassy of Ireland in India visa service is the India-specific starting point; a visa fee is not an admission deposit. Irish immigration defines the eligible graduate group as:

A remote enrolment from India does not establish those conditions, and the permission is not a job guarantee.

Can an Indian applicant meet the MIC Bachelor of Arts requirements?

MIC expects 70% overall in Standard XII from CBSE, CISCE or listed metropolitan state boards, plus Mathematics and a language other than English through Grade X. Subject-specific routes can add a 70% Grade XII requirement. Meeting the shared India percentage does not override the programme-specific academic, language or document conditions.

MIC requests complete certified school records rather than a partial or informal result sheet. Documents not in English need certified translations.

Published English alternatives include TOEFL iBT 90, PTE Academic 61 with no section below 59 and Duolingo 120 with no component below 110. Results are expected to be less than two years old.

   The general 70% average is not the only test. A specific subject route can require 70% in the relevant Grade XII subject.

4. Psychology has a controlled pathway

   Continuing Psychology is competitive, and the accredited route requires the Psychology dissertation. Admission to the BA does not guarantee progression in Psychology.

How should you apply for the MIC Bachelor of Arts?

Non-EU applicants apply directly to MIC. The programme has one September intake, but the next international deadline is not published, so prepare the board, subject and English evidence before using the current live application instructions. A viable file needs the current intake, exact route, complete academic evidence and any programme-specific documents before payment.

The route requires an eligible subject combination, board eligibility, complete school and English records, and a live direct non-EU cycle.

The evidence does not support a deadline. MIC confirms the September intake but has not published the next non-EU closing date on the programme page.

The allowances are preparation estimates, not deadlines or processing times published by Mary Immaculate College. Start dates remain unconfirmed.

The International Office has not published the next live form, final document list, deposit and deadline. An old prospectus date is not evidence that the new cycle remains open.

What can the MIC Bachelor of Arts lead to?

MIC positions the BA across multiple graduate directions. The exact destination depends heavily on the two majors and Year 3 experience. MIC publishes no programme placement rate, median salary or employer list. These are curriculum-supported directions, not a placement promise, salary forecast or evidence that every graduate enters the same role.

The BA is a broad platform, not a single occupational licence. Major selection, work evidence and any further professional study shape employability.

Year 3 can add workplace or international evidence before the final-year dissertation. MIC does not promise a particular placement employer, paid placement or graduate appointment.

The Psychology route has specific value because MIC states PSI accreditation through 2027, but students must meet progression rules and complete the Psychology dissertation. PSI’s accreditation position for the graduation year remains a separate check.

Who should choose the MIC Bachelor of Arts, and who should not?

The strongest fit wants structured breadth, can select two compatible majors and will use Year 3 to build evidence. The weakest fit needs a direct professional licence, a guaranteed placement or a subject pair that the timetable groups do not permit. Unpublished placement or salary claims should not influence the shortlist decision.

The decision should rest on the subject combination, not merely the institution name. Write down your preferred two majors, check their groups and identify what Year 3 should contribute to your CV.

A broad degree rewards deliberate planning. Without a clear major pairing and off-campus objective, its flexibility can produce a weaker employment story than a more specialised route.

What does the MIC Bachelor of Arts curriculum contain?

Year 1 offers 14 subjects and students choose four. From Year 2, students retain two joint-honours subjects within six published pairing groups. Year 3 moves off campus, and Year 4 adds the two-part undergraduate dissertation. Should an Indian student shortlist the MIC Bachelor of Arts?

Shortlist it if you want to test four subjects before committing to two and can use the off-campus year deliberately. The programme should enter a shortlist only after you have checked that your preferred two-subject combination is permitted. The live offer remains decisive.

The strongest value is controlled exploration. You can compare four fields in Year 1, build two majors from Year 2 and add placement or international study in Year 3 before the final dissertation.

The choice architecture is the main constraint. The intended joint-honours pair must be permitted after Year 1. Psychology also follows a different Year 3 pattern and its professional accreditation depends on the prescribed progression and dissertation route.
