What is NCI MSc Cloud Computing, and what should an Indian applicant know first?

NCI runs three computing master’s and this is the smallest by a distance. Forty-seven people graduated from it in 2023 against 253 from Data Analytics, and 88% of those who answered NCI’s survey were in work. Tuition is EUR 17,000, about INR 18.71 lakh, and the next start is 18 January 2027.

It also has the narrowest door of the three. The rule is a computing degree, full stop, where Cybersecurity takes a STEM degree carrying programming modules and Data Analytics takes a cognate one. If your bachelor’s isn’t computing, this is the sibling that says no first, and there’s no bridging route published into it.

How much does NCI MSc Cloud Computing actually cost?

Plan EUR 32,149.55, or about INR 35.38 lakh, for the one-year programme using NCI’s minimum EUR 1,200 monthly living guide. The total combines tuition, 12 months of living, one current insurance example, a single-entry visa and immigration registration. Flights and housing deposits remain extra.

The EUR 10,000 finance threshold is visa evidence, not the full Dublin budget. Converted at EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 using the ECB reference rate for 1 September 2026. Bank spreads and later fee changes are excluded.

NCI’s international programme material publishes EUR 17,000 for the one-year computing masters and says fees can be updated by intake. The page uses the current figure without inventing a later year because the course lasts one year.

NCI recommends at least EUR 1,200 per month for a single student. Across 12 months that is EUR 14,400. This is an institutional minimum plan, not a promise that a room will be available at a particular rent.

Private medical insurance is compulsory. The NCI-linked Study and Protect information shows a premium from EUR 389.55, but age and policy choice can change the quote. The total uses that visible starting premium and tells you to price the actual policy before payment.

The INR conversion uses the ECB daily reference rate of EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 on 1 September 2026. A five percent fall in the rupee would add about five percent to the converted euro costs before bank charges.

The EUR 10,000 immigration finance threshold is not the same as the full budget. It is the minimum immediate finance evidence for a one-year course. NCI’s own 12-month living guide is EUR 14,400 before tuition and insurance.

A scholarship can reduce tuition after admission, but the full funding plan should work before an award is assumed. NCI says eligible international applicants are assessed automatically for its academic merit scholarships.

Part-time work can reduce some spending after arrival, but it cannot be the basis of the visa finance evidence. The academic timetable, assessment load and housing costs continue even when work hours are unavailable.

Flights and refundable housing deposits are excluded because they are not fixed institutional charges. A separate cash reserve is still needed for both, so the displayed total is not the maximum possible spend.

The fee does not confirm admission or visa approval.

NCI’s India scholarship table currently links 60% to 74.99% with EUR 3,000 and 75% or higher with EUR 5,000. The award is assessed automatically, but the full budget should remain workable until the offer confirms the actual reduction.

Can an Indian applicant get into NCI MSc Cloud Computing?

Entry is an honours Level 8 degree in a computing discipline at 2.2 or above, per the approved curriculum record. That’s narrower than either sibling, because Cybersecurity accepts a STEM degree carrying programming modules and Data Analytics accepts a cognate one.

Send evidence of programming from the transcript itself. The entry rule is about the discipline of your degree, and a marks sheet without module names cannot answer the question NCI is actually asking.

The 14 September 2026 start still shows an Apply button, but its visa-required deadline passed on 1 July 2026. The date that matters now is 31 October 2026, for a January 2027 start.

What most applicants miss

1. The India page sets a higher bar than the course page

   The course page asks for a 2.2. NCI’s India page says a masters applicant will typically hold “a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with an award of 2.1 or higher (60% +) or equivalent with no more than 7 backlogs”. That’s a full class higher, and the backlog cap appears nowhere on the course page. Work to the India page and get any exception in writing before you pay.

2. Thirteen modules, and not one is shared with the other two

   We pulled all three curriculum records on 1 September 2026 and compared module codes. Cloud Computing shares zero codes with Cybersecurity and zero with Data Analytics. Its own thirteen run from Cloud Architectures and Cloud Platform Programming through Fog and Edge Computing, Scalable Cloud Programming and Cloud DevOpsSec, with AWS Lambda, Kubernetes and Kafka named inside the module content. The three programmes are genuinely different courses.

3. No internship, unlike both siblings

   Cybersecurity and Data Analytics each carry a 30 ECTS Internship option, and they share the same module code for it. Cloud Computing has none. Its final semester is a 25 ECTS Research Project plus a 5 ECTS research module, ending in a viva with a demonstration of what you built. That’s a real difference in what the year looks like and it isn’t visible from the marketing copy.

How should you apply for NCI MSc Cloud Computing?

Submit through NCI’s international application route before 31 October 2026 for the 18 January 2027 start. Programmes can close when capacity is reached, so the official date is the last limit, not a sensible personal target. NCI confirms a place only on full fee payment, and warns that a programme can close before its published date once it reaches capacity.

Create an NCI application, select the exact programme and intake, upload the academic records, CV, passport and statement, then monitor the application email for requests and the decision.

The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by National College of Ireland.

Begin with the course-specific academic check. A submitted application cannot turn an unrelated degree, missing programming evidence or insufficient work history into the published background.

Transcripts and the graduation certificate should come from the issuing institution. A document not issued in English needs the certified translation NCI requests, with names and dates consistent with the passport.

NCI permits English evidence to follow the first application in some cases, but a file close to the visa deadline needs both academic and English conditions met. The test result therefore needs to arrive before the final date.

The statement of purpose is capped at 600 words and answers four published questions. NCI says it must be written in the applicant’s own words and warns that plagiarism or AI-written content may lead to rejection.

Only one programme can be assessed at a time. The selected course should match the evidence rather than being an unrelated first choice sent in expectation of a later transfer.

A place is confirmed after the required fee payment, and programmes can close when capacity is reached. Payment proof and the refund terms need to be stored before money is sent.

For a visa-required January 2027 applicant, 31 October 2026 is the published application limit. Housing, finance and visa documents should already be moving by then because an academic offer is not the final step.

The exact programme code matters. NCI offers related computing courses with different subject assumptions, so confirm the course title, code and intake on every uploaded form and payment reference.

What jobs and work rights follow NCI MSc Cloud Computing?

NCI publishes a graduate destinations report for each course, with named employers, job titles and salary bands. Almost no other college in this set does. The most recent one covering Cloud Computing is for the class of 2023, and it’s worth reading in full rather than as a headline.

The report lists every reported destination, including roles that are not cloud engineering. Read the whole list rather than the headline percentage.

It is the strongest outcome evidence anywhere in this set and it still needs reading carefully. A forty-seven person cohort moves a percentage a long way, and NCI publishes the full list rather than a curated one, so the honest picture includes destinations well outside cloud engineering.

Whether a cloud or DevOps job carries a work permit is decided by occupation code rather than job title. The Critical Skills list covers the ICT professional group, which is where these roles sit.

Who should apply to NCI MSc Cloud Computing, and who should not?

This is for someone who already holds a computing degree and wants the cloud stack specifically. If your degree isn’t computing, one of the two siblings will take you and this one will not, and Irish immigration will not accept a part-time route as the way around it.

Compare the three NCI computing pages before choosing. They cost the same, they run in the same building, and they share almost no teaching, so the choice is real and it is about modules rather than branding.

If the cloud stack is the draw but the entry rule blocks you, Cybersecurity’s cognate route is the nearer door and it carries a cloud architecture and security module of its own.

What does the NCI MSc Cloud Computing curriculum contain?

The published curriculum covers Cloud Architectures, Cloud Platform Programming, Cloud DevOpsSec before later specialist and final assessed work. NCI’s live course page names a research project, while the 2026/27 brochure lists a practicum or internship. Until NCI resolves that conflict, do not plan on a guaranteed internship.

The opening subjects include Cloud Architectures, Cloud Platform Programming, Cloud DevOpsSec. They explain why the entry condition matters because the course moves into assessed Level 9 work rather than teaching every foundation from zero.

Later work includes Scalable Cloud Programming, Fog and Edge Computing, Blockchain. The most useful assignments produce clear evidence of method, decisions and results instead of only a final grade.

NCI’s live course page names a research project, while the 2026/27 brochure lists a practicum or internship. Until NCI resolves that conflict, do not plan on a guaranteed internship.

A project is useful when you can explain the problem, constraints, technical or management choices and what changed after testing. Only work permitted for display belongs in a portfolio, with confidential data removed.

Module names can change by intake. The 2026/27 brochure and live course page need to be read together, and NCI should resolve any conflict before the offer is accepted.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist NCI MSc Cloud Computing?

Shortlist this if you hold a computing degree and want the cloud stack rather than security or analytics. It’s the smallest of NCI’s three computing cohorts and the only one with no internship. Post-study rights come from the Third Level Graduate Programme rather than from NCI.

Ninety credits over three semesters. The taught modules cover cloud architectures, cloud platform programming, DevOpsSec, fog and edge computing, scalable cloud programming and data governance, with electives in blockchain, quantum computing, cloud machine learning and an innovation strand. The year ends in a supervised research project rather than a placement.

Two things to settle before paying. NCI's India page asks for 60% and no more than seven backlogs where the course page asks only for a 2.2, and nobody reconciles the two. And the September date still carries a live Apply button whose visa deadline has already gone, so work to 31 October 2026 for January.
