What is NCI MSc Data Analytics, and what should an Indian applicant know first?

Of NCI’s three computing master’s, this is the biggest and the most mathematical. It carries 20 credits of machine learning where its siblings carry five each, and it holds the only statistics module across the three. Tuition is EUR 17,000, about INR 18.71 lakh. It is also the only one of the three with no September start.

That last point is checkable in a minute. On 1 September 2026 the Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity pages both listed 14 September 2026 and 18 January 2027. This one listed 18 January 2027 alone. NCI doesn’t say why, so we won’t guess, but it means one fewer option if you’re choosing between the three.

How much does NCI MSc Data Analytics actually cost?

Plan EUR 32,149.55, or about INR 35.38 lakh, for the one-year programme using NCI’s minimum EUR 1,200 monthly living guide. The total combines tuition, 12 months of living, one current insurance example, a single-entry visa and immigration registration. Flights and housing deposits remain extra.

ItemINRLocal currencyWhen it is due
International tuitionINR 18.71 lakhEUR 17,000Full one-year programme
Living planINR 15.85 lakhEUR 14,400EUR 1,200 monthly for 12 months
Medical insurance exampleINR 0.43 lakhEUR 389.55Current NCI-linked starting premium
Single-entry visaINR 0.07 lakhEUR 60At visa application
Immigration registrationINR 0.33 lakhEUR 300After arrival
Full-programme planning totalINR 35.38 lakhEUR 32,149.55Across the published duration

The EUR 10,000 finance threshold is visa evidence, not the full Dublin budget. Converted at EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 using the ECB reference rate for 1 September 2026. Bank spreads and later fee changes are excluded.

NCI’s international programme material publishes EUR 17,000 for the one-year computing masters and says fees can be updated by intake. The page uses the current figure without inventing a later year because the course lasts one year.

NCI recommends at least EUR 1,200 per month for a single student. Across 12 months that is EUR 14,400. This is an institutional minimum plan, not a promise that a room will be available at a particular rent.

Private medical insurance is compulsory. The NCI-linked Study and Protect information shows a premium from EUR 389.55, but age and policy choice can change the quote. The total uses that visible starting premium and tells you to price the actual policy before payment.

The INR conversion uses the ECB daily reference rate of EUR 1 = INR 110.0485 on 1 September 2026. A five percent fall in the rupee would add about five percent to the converted euro costs before bank charges.

The EUR 10,000 immigration finance threshold is not the same as the full budget. It is the minimum immediate finance evidence for a one-year course. NCI’s own 12-month living guide is EUR 14,400 before tuition and insurance.

A scholarship can reduce tuition after admission, but the full funding plan should work before an award is assumed. NCI says eligible international applicants are assessed automatically for its academic merit scholarships.

Part-time work can reduce some spending after arrival, but it cannot be the basis of the visa finance evidence. The academic timetable, assessment load and housing costs continue even when work hours are unavailable.

Flights and refundable housing deposits are excluded because they are not fixed institutional charges. A separate cash reserve is still needed for both, so the displayed total is not the maximum possible spend.

Irish immigration describes the visa charge narrowly

“The visa fee is an administration fee which covers the cost of processing your application.”Immigration Service Delivery, visa fees

The fee does not confirm admission or visa approval.

NCI’s India scholarship table currently links 60% to 74.99% with EUR 3,000 and 75% or higher with EUR 5,000. The award is assessed automatically, but the full budget should remain workable until the offer confirms the actual reduction.

Can an Indian applicant get into NCI MSc Data Analytics?

Entry is an honours Level 8 degree at 2.2 in a cognate discipline, and the curriculum record adds a hard second condition: every applicant must evidence prior programming experience through transcripts or a recognised certification. There is no stated exception to it.

RequirementPublished ruleWhat you do
Indian bachelor's result (India)Normally 60% or higher with no more than seven backlogsUpload every annual transcript and the final award
Programme degree rule (India)A Level 8 honours degree at 2.2 or higher in a cognate area, with technical or mathematical problem-solving and prior programming evidenceMap the degree field and relevant modules
Programming evidence (India)The degree title is not the only check. NCI also asks for prior programming evidence and a technical or mathematical problem-solving background.Mark the relevant modules and certified training
English (India)IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5, or a published equivalentUse a certificate valid at the programme start
Application file (India)Transcripts, graduation certificate, passport, CV and a statement of purpose up to 600 wordsWrite the statement in your own words
Student finance (India)At least EUR 10,000 immediately accessible plus tuition evidenceKeep visa evidence separate from the larger full budget

Programming evidence and numeracy evidence are two separate checks and both come off the transcript. Send module names and credit values rather than a marks summary, because a list of grades cannot answer either question.

For a January 2027 start the deadline for visa-required applicants is 31 October 2026, and NCI warns that programmes can close earlier on capacity, with places confirmed only on full fee payment.

What most applicants miss

  1. A commerce degree is admissible, third in line, and needs two maths modules

NCI’s quality documentation sets an order of merit the marketing pages never mention. Computing and informatics graduates get direct entry. Engineering, mathematics, physics and chemistry come next, assessed by syllabus. Third are degrees with a significant IT or numerate element, a group that explicitly names accounting, economics and marketing management, and for those NCI looks for at least two modules in operations research, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, quantitative analysis or reasoning under uncertainty. Thin evidence there can trigger an assessment.

  2. The India page sets a higher bar than the course page

The course page says 2.2. NCI’s India page says a masters applicant typically holds “a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with an award of 2.1 or higher (60% +) or equivalent with no more than 7 backlogs”. Neither the class nor the backlog cap appears on the course page. Plan to the India page.

  3. The statement of purpose is capped, and AI-written ones are rejected

NCI caps the statement of purpose at 600 words and states that submissions “deemed to be generated by AI tools or other generative sources will be disregarded and may result in your application being rejected”. On a data programme that reads as a test of judgement as much as a rule. Write it yourself and keep it inside the limit.

How should you apply for NCI MSc Data Analytics?

Submit through NCI’s international application route before 31 October 2026 for the 18 January 2027 start. Programmes can close when capacity is reached, so the official date is the last limit, not a sensible personal target. NCI confirms a place only on full fee payment, and warns that a programme can close before its published date once it reaches capacity.

Create an NCI application, select the exact programme and intake, upload the academic records, CV, passport and statement, then monitor the application email for requests and the decision.

10 Oct 2026Audit degree and programme evidence14 daysAllow two weeks to map the degree, modules, marks and work evidence.
24 Oct 2026Submit the NCI application7 daysKeep one week for uploads and any unreadable-document correction.

The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by National College of Ireland.

Begin with the course-specific academic check. A submitted application cannot turn an unrelated degree, missing programming evidence or insufficient work history into the published background.

Transcripts and the graduation certificate should come from the issuing institution. A document not issued in English needs the certified translation NCI requests, with names and dates consistent with the passport.

NCI permits English evidence to follow the first application in some cases, but a file close to the visa deadline needs both academic and English conditions met. The test result therefore needs to arrive before the final date.

The statement of purpose is capped at 600 words and answers four published questions. NCI says it must be written in the applicant’s own words and warns that plagiarism or AI-written content may lead to rejection.

Only one programme can be assessed at a time. The selected course should match the evidence rather than being an unrelated first choice sent in expectation of a later transfer.

A place is confirmed after the required fee payment, and programmes can close when capacity is reached. Payment proof and the refund terms need to be stored before money is sent.

For a visa-required January 2027 applicant, 31 October 2026 is the published application limit. Housing, finance and visa documents should already be moving by then because an academic offer is not the final step.

The exact programme code matters. NCI offers related computing courses with different subject assumptions, so confirm the course title, code and intake on every uploaded form and payment reference.

What jobs and work rights follow NCI MSc Data Analytics?

This is the largest of NCI’s three computing cohorts by some way, and the graduate destinations report reflects that scale. It names employers with job titles, and it also names destinations well outside data work, which is the part worth reading properly rather than skipping.

MeasureFigureBasis
Graduates surveyed253 (2023)Roughly five times the Cloud Computing cohort
In employment87%Of those who responded to NCI's own survey
Capstone30 ECTSA research practicum, or an internship assessed the same way
Machine learning content20 ECTSFour times what either sibling programme carries
Published salary bandsPartialThe bands cover part of the employed group, not all of it

A large cohort competing for the same Dublin roles is a fact worth weighing alongside the employment percentage, not instead of it.

Scale cuts both ways and the page should say so. A 253-person class produces a long and credible employer list, and it also means a lot of people applying for the same graduate analytics jobs in one city in the same month.

A plain data analyst job title is not itself on the Critical Skills list. The entries that cover this work are written around big data analytics and specialist skills, so the job description matters more than the title at permit time.

Who should apply to NCI MSc Data Analytics, and who should not?

This is the right one of the three if you want statistics and machine learning rather than infrastructure or security, and if you can evidence programming. It is the only one of the three without a September intake, and Irish immigration will not accept a part-time alternative.

VerdictYour backgroundWhy
Strong fitA computing or engineering graduate who wants depth in ML and statistics20 ECTS of machine learning and a 10 ECTS statistics module, both unmatched by the siblings.
Strong fitSomeone who wants an internship option inside the capstoneThe 30 ECTS final module can be an internship, which Cloud Computing does not offer.
Needs evidenceA commerce or business graduate with two quantitative modules on the transcriptAdmissible, but third in NCI's own order of merit and assessed on the syllabus.
Needs evidenceAnyone who needs a September startThis programme lists January 2027 only, while both siblings list September as well.
Do not shortlistAnyone who cannot document prior programmingNCI states the requirement with no exception and offers no bridging module inside the degree.
Do not shortlistAnyone at or below 60%, or carrying more than seven backlogsNCI's India page sets both bars above what the course page says.

The three NCI computing programmes share almost no teaching, so pick on the module list. This one is the quantitative option, Cybersecurity is the offensive and defensive one, and Cloud Computing is the infrastructure one.

If the programming evidence isn’t there, NCI’s conversion Higher Diploma in computing is the published route and costs a year. It is a better answer than applying and hoping the transcript is read generously.

What does the NCI MSc Data Analytics curriculum contain?

The published curriculum covers Statistics and Optimisation, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Analytics Programming and Data Visualisation before later specialist and final assessed work. The programme offers a practicum or internship. NCI does not state that every student receives an employer placement.

Total90
  • Complete the full 90-credit Level 9 award
  • Use the intake module list because options can change
  • Confirm the final project, practicum, internship or dissertation route in writing

The opening subjects include Statistics and Optimisation, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Analytics Programming and Data Visualisation. They explain why the entry condition matters because the course moves into assessed Level 9 work rather than teaching every foundation from zero.

Later work includes Data Intensive Scalable Systems, Modelling and Simulation, and Domain Applications. The most useful assignments produce clear evidence of method, decisions and results instead of only a final grade.

The programme offers a practicum or internship. NCI does not state that every student receives an employer placement.

A project is useful when you can explain the problem, constraints, technical or management choices and what changed after testing. Only work permitted for display belongs in a portfolio, with confidential data removed.

Module names can change by intake. The 2026/27 brochure and live course page need to be read together, and NCI should resolve any conflict before the offer is accepted.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist NCI MSc Data Analytics?

Shortlist this if you want the quantitative one of NCI’s three and can evidence programming. It carries four times the machine learning of either sibling, and post-study rights come from the Third Level Graduate Programme rather than from the degree.

Ninety credits across three semesters. Statistics and Optimisation and Data Mining and Machine Learning carry 10 credits each in semester one, alongside analytics programming and data visualisation and a data governance module. Semester two adds business intelligence and deep learning and generative AI at 10 credits each. The final 30 credits are a practicum or an internship.

Two hard conditions sit off the course page. Prior programming has to be evidenced by every applicant with no stated exception, and a non-STEM transcript needs at least two quantitative modules for NCI's syllabus review. Neither is negotiable at offer stage, and neither is visible until you read the quality documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the total cost of NCI MSc Data Analytics for an Indian applicant?

Use EUR 32,149.55, or about INR 35.38 lakh, as the current one-year plan. It combines EUR 17,000 tuition, 12 months at NCI's EUR 1,200 monthly living guide, one insurance example, a single-entry visa and immigration registration. Flights, housing deposits, bank spreads and price changes remain extra.

What is the entry requirement for NCI MSc Data Analytics?

NCI publishes a Level 8 honours degree at 2.2 or higher in a cognate area, with technical or mathematical problem-solving and prior programming evidence. Indian postgraduate guidance starts at 60% with no more than seven backlogs. Both the country guidance and the programme-specific rule matter, and the complete documents decide the application.

Does NCI MSc Data Analytics require IELTS?

NCI's School of Computing masters table uses IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.5. It also publishes alternatives such as PTE 58 with no skill below 47 and Duolingo 105 with no skill below 95. The certificate needs to be within two years of the programme start.

When is the NCI MSc Data Analytics application deadline?

For a visa-required applicant joining the January 2027 intake, NCI publishes 31 October 2026 as the deadline. Courses can close earlier when capacity is reached. Submit a complete academic and English file before the last date so document corrections, fees, visa preparation and housing do not begin too late.

Does NCI MSc Data Analytics guarantee an internship or placement?

No. The current material refers to research practicum or internship, but it does not promise an employer internship for every student. NCI also publishes no current audited placement rate or salary distribution for this course. Treat the route as assessed course work unless the college confirms a specific employer placement in writing.

Can I stay in Ireland after NCI MSc Data Analytics?

A qualifying Level 9 graduate can receive Stamp 1G for 12 months and may renew for another 12 months after showing suitable job-search steps. The permission gives time to seek graduate employment. It does not guarantee a job or replace the employment permit required for a longer stay.

Is NCI MSc Data Analytics suitable for a beginner?

Usually not. The degree title is not the only check. NCI also asks for prior programming evidence and a technical or mathematical problem-solving background. The one-year timetable moves quickly into Level 9 assessment. A certificate can support evidence, but it does not replace the published degree background or the technical foundation that the course expects.

What jobs are linked to NCI MSc Data Analytics?

NCI links the course with data analyst, data scientist, business intelligence, data engineering and machine learning roles. Those are possible directions, not a promised role. Build evidence through assessed work, compare it with current job descriptions and check work-permission rules separately. The checked sources do not provide a current salary distribution that predicts an individual graduate outcome.
