What is the TCD MSc Computer Science Data Science, and what does it cost?

TCD MSc Computer Science Data Science is a one-calendar-year, 90-ECTS degree with two teaching semesters and an April to August dissertation. The official course record also permits a 60-ECTS postgraduate diploma exit. The INR 61.72 lakh plan uses 2026/27 tuition because the September 2027 fee is unpublished. No reliable 2027 deadline was verified, so treat it as a possible reduction rather than secured funding.

The rule makes casual income unavailable as a funding assumption.

Trinity publishes no programming-test format, duration or pass mark. Ask the School whether any new instructions apply to September 2027, and keep time available to revise one of the three named languages after the application is submitted.

Band B includes IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band, Duolingo 120 overall with 100 in each subscore, Cambridge 180 overall with no score below 170, and PTE 69 overall with 59 in each part. An English-medium degree supports only a discretionary waiver request. Formal medium-of-instruction evidence is required, and missing English evidence can delay or defeat the application.

If final results are pending, make every completed semester and relevant module easy to identify. Keep the application factual about marks and projects, and let the School make the equivalence decision for the exact award.

Use the MyTCD application link from the official course page. The normal postgraduate application fee is EUR 55 and is non-refundable. After an offer, complete scholarship, fee, immigration and accommodation work as separate tasks.

Your current file status matters more than a generic countdown. If your passport, transcripts and accepted English result are ready, this planning target may be workable. If English testing or a written eligibility decision is pending, request a case review before choosing the intake.

What can you responsibly say about outcomes?

Trinity publishes no programme-level placement rate, salary or verified graduate destination list for this MSc. The School describes relevant data roles and organisations that employ specialists, which identifies the field but not course outcomes. Employment claims therefore stop at role examples, the curriculum and current Irish work-permission rules.

Google, Meta, Amazon, Accenture, McKinsey and PwC appear as examples of organisations that employ data scientists or consultants. Trinity does not identify them as verified employers of graduates from this exact programme, so they are not presented as placement evidence.

Machine learning, statistics, optimisation, visualisation and scalable computing support technical data work. Security, privacy and research methods add context, while the 30 ECTS dissertation can become substantial evidence of research and implementation depending on the project.

This Irish master’s is at National Framework Level 9. An eligible graduate can receive Stamp 1G graduate immigration permission for 12 months, with a possible further 12 months after suitable job-search steps. It permits full-time work but not self-employment. Stamp 2 is the student permission, with work limited to 20 hours a week in term and 40 during specified holidays.
