What is Studyinfo Finland?
Studyinfo is Finland’s official national service for finding degree programmes and submitting national or institution-specific forms. A programme appearing in the service doesn’t prove that it belongs to the January joint application.

The institution will be either a Finnish research university or a Finnish university of applied sciences. Studyinfo records the published criteria and submission, while the institution assesses qualifications and attachments. A submission confirmation proves only that the form arrived.
Which application route does your programme use?
Your programme can use a joint, separate, rolling or supplementary route. Finland’s official guidance confirms that joint and separate admissions coexist, and institutions can publish more than one route for the same start term.

How many choices can you add, and must you rank them?
The first spring English joint application allows up to six unranked choices, so more than one offer can be possible. JAMK confirms this rule for 2027. Other joint rounds use a different choice rule.
The autumn joint application and the second spring joint application for Finnish or Swedish programmes use binding preference order. The result service offers only the highest choice the applicant can reach, subject to the published waiting-list process. A safer programme placed first is treated as the real first choice.
Separate forms set their own limits rather than drawing from the national six. For example, Aalto’s English bachelor’s FAQ allows a maximum of three study options.
A second form is not the correction method within the same joint application. JAMK warns that the latest joint form replaces earlier forms. The personal confirmation link provides the edit route while changes remain permitted.

National 2028 joint-application dates were not published in the checked official material on 10 August 2026. A programme can name a January 2028 start without establishing a national 2028 calendar, so the 2027 dates cannot be moved forward by one year.
How does the EUR 100 application fee work?
The current Studyinfo application fee is EUR 100 for applicants from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland applying to degree-leading bachelor’s or master’s study, unless an official exemption applies. An Indian citizen should expect to pay it unless their documented residence status appears in the current exemption list.
Aalto confirms that payment is due within seven days of submitting the application. The payment email gives the exact deadline. Late payment means the application is not processed. The fee is not an admission deposit, tuition payment or scholarship charge.

Which documents should you upload?
Document requirements belong to the programme and institution, not to one universal Finland list. Current university instructions commonly require educational certificates, transcripts, official translations when needed, language evidence, passport or identity document and programme-specific material. Both the original-language document and its official translation are normally needed when a translation is required. A self-translation, screenshot or unofficial record may be rejected. The same attachment can also be required in several form fields rather than inherited automatically from one upload. JAMK gives this repeated-field instruction explicitly.
Form and attachment deadlines can differ. Turku’s 2027 international master’s form closes on 21 January and its attachment deadline is 28 January, both at 15:00 Finnish time.
The attachment list also changes by programme. A business route may request a motivation video or test result, an arts route may require a portfolio, and a master’s route may need course descriptions.
What does conditional admission mean?
A conditional offer means the place can be cancelled unless you meet the stated document condition. You may have applied before completing Class XII or a degree, or your scanned documents may still need official verification. Helsinki separates application-stage records from later officially certified documents.

What happens when you receive an offer?
An admission message contains more than a positive decision. UEF explains that acceptance is binding and subject to the one-place-per-term rule. An applicant may accept only one degree-leading Finnish higher-education place beginning in the same academic term, even when offers came through different application routes.
A second rule applies to programmes starting in 2027. The Finnish National Agency for Education explains the new one-study-right provision. If the rule covers the new place, accepting it ends an existing Finnish higher-education study right at the same or a lower degree level. This matters only if you already hold such a Finnish study right.

What should you check from search to acceptance?
The final check follows the application in time, from the last review before submission to the acceptance decision.
- Before submission: confirm the programme and start term, read its eligibility and selection criteria, identify the correct form, and note whether choices must be ranked.
- On the form: use a personal email address that you will control through the result period, enter names exactly as they appear on the passport, and upload each attachment in every field that requests it.
- Immediately after submission: save the confirmation message and personal edit link. Check the payment email and pay by its stated deadline if the fee applies.
- Before each attachment deadline: reopen the submitted form, compare every required field with the programme instructions, and save proof of the final upload.
- After a decision: read every condition, the acceptance deadline, tuition and scholarship terms, enrolment steps, and the effect of the one-place-per-term rule before accepting.
One application folder can contain the submitted form, payment receipt, every attachment, email messages, decision and acceptance confirmation. When an institution asks for a missing or officially verified document, the response belongs to that exact request rather than an unrelated upload field. The record should show what was submitted, when it was submitted and which condition remains open.
Consider an applicant using the January joint form for two bachelor’s choices and a later university-specific form for a third. The same-term fee payment may cover both routes, but the forms remain independent. The joint choices use their own selection and attachment fields, while the separate route keeps its own deadline and programme limit. If the applicant uploads a transcript only to one form or assumes the later form inherits the first confirmation, the other application can remain incomplete even though the national fee has been paid.
If that applicant later receives two offers for the same autumn term, the decision moves from application mechanics to acceptance. The tuition invoice, scholarship condition, campus and residence plan can be compared before one place is accepted. Once an acceptance becomes binding under the one-place-per-term rule, the second offer cannot be kept as an informal backup.
