MBBS in Dubai for an Indian student returning to practise in India requires at least 54 months in the foreign medical course and a separate 12-month internship in the same foreign institution under the National Medical Commission’s current rules. A university name or UAE accreditation status alone doesn’t establish India-return eligibility.

The ordinary assumption is that a six-year UAE medical degree includes everything needed after graduation. Several official programme and health-authority pages show that internship has its own application, selection and fee, while a four-year graduate-entry MD runs for 48 months and appears shorter than NMC’s 54-month course requirement. The wider study in Dubai and the UAE decision therefore depends on the complete professional route, not the city or degree label.

Which four checks decide whether a UAE medical degree works for India?

Four checks decide the answer, and all four must hold for the same course and post-degree route. The first is UAE programme accreditation. The other three come from NMC’s rules on duration, internship and eligibility for a local medical licence. A positive answer to one doesn’t prove the other three.

The recognition check before you shortlistGreen means the evidence can be found now. Amber means written regulator evidence is still needed. Red means the published route carries a material India-return risk.
Check Evidence you need What the answer changes
Exact UAE programme status The current award appears as active in the CAA programme register. You know the programme has the federal academic status claimed for it.
Course leading to the degree The official curriculum shows at least 54 months before the foreign medical degree is awarded. You can test the course against NMC Regulation 4(a)(i).
Foreign internship A 12-month internship is available in a form NMC accepts as being in the same foreign medical institution. You avoid assuming that clerkships or a separately matched hospital internship satisfy Regulation 4(a)(ii).
UAE licence eligibility The completed degree and internship make an international graduate eligible for registration or a licence on the terms NMC requires. You can address NMC Regulation 4(b), not merely show that the degree is accredited.

The last two answers are often absent from an admission page. That absence is not proof of failure, but it means a deposit would be premature. NMC says it does not endorse a list of foreign medical universities and asks students to verify course content, duration, fees and internship directly.

CAA accreditation answers whether the UAE recognises the academic programme. NMC registration answers whether India accepts the completed foreign education and training route for a returning graduate. Those authorities review different questions, which is why a positive CAA record and a positive NMC outcome can’t be used as substitutes for each other.

The internship question is particularly easy to miss. A programme can include years of hospital clerkships and still place the graduate into a separate internship application after the degree. The NMC wording asks for the internship in the same foreign medical institution, while UAE pages may name a university, hospital group or health authority as the provider. The relationship between those bodies needs to be stated in writing.

Does MBBS mean the same thing as an MD in the UAE?

No. MBBS and MD can refer to different entry routes, and the current award title may also differ from an older website label. The UAE’s Commission for Academic Accreditation now records active Doctor of Medicine awards at several universities whose older programme names or URLs still use MBBS.

At Gulf Medical University, for example, CAA records an active Doctor of Medicine and a former Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery title that ended in November 2023. The university separately offers a six-year MD after Class XII and a four-year graduate-entry MD after a bachelor’s degree. Those routes cannot be treated as the same qualification simply because both end in MD.

Label on the page What it may describe Evidence that settles it
MBBS A legacy undergraduate award name that may still appear on a university page. The current CAA entry and the award letter for your intake.
Six-year MD An undergraduate medical programme entered after Class XII. The curriculum, award date and separate internship terms.
Four-year MD A graduate-entry programme requiring an earlier bachelor’s degree. The published 48-month duration and written NMC treatment of the 54-month rule.

The award printed for your cohort matters more than the marketing heading. Keep the current CAA record, admission offer and university confirmation together because the exact title, duration and entry route may later be reviewed by a professional regulator.

The word MD also has a different everyday meaning for many Indian families. In India, MD usually suggests postgraduate specialisation after MBBS. In these UAE examples, an undergraduate six-year Doctor of Medicine can be the primary medical qualification entered after school, while a four-year Doctor of Medicine can be a graduate-entry primary qualification. The title doesn’t reveal the level or the India-return outcome by itself.

University of Sharjah shows why the current record and the cohort letter both matter. CAA lists an active Doctor of Medicine, while the live university degree page still uses Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Reporting the mismatch is safer than choosing whichever title looks more familiar, because the university must confirm what will actually appear on the graduate’s certificate.

Which UAE medicine programmes can an Indian student shortlist?

A workable shortlist starts with the active programme, then removes options whose published entry restriction excludes you and marks every unresolved internship point. The comparison below joins programme status, degree length, current tuition evidence, clinical training and the India-return question. It does not call any university NMC approved because NMC publishes no such list.

Medicine routes for an Indian applicantGreen is the clearest published Class XII route. Amber needs written answers on internship and licence eligibility. Red has a published restriction or duration risk.
Institution, programme and duration Published tuition (AED per year) Clinical, internship and India-return treatment
Gulf Medical University, Ajman. Active CAA Doctor of Medicine, six years and 224 credits. AED 155,000 in the 2026 fee schedule. Clerkships sit in years 5 and 6. The separate Thumbay internship is merit-selected and charged. The duration clears the first screen, but NMC’s same-institution and UAE licence tests still need written confirmation.
Mohammed Bin Rashid University, Dubai. Active CAA Doctor of Medicine, with six-year and four-year routes. AED 160,000 on the current MBRU FAQ. Training uses Dubai Health facilities and internship has separate admission. The six-year route needs internship and licence evidence. The four-year route carries the 54-month warning.
Dubai Medical University, Dubai. Active CAA Doctor of Medicine, six years and 224 credits. AED 126,000 including VAT for 2026 entry. The programme has three two-year academic phases but its page does not promise a post-degree internship. The university and NMC need to answer the internship and licence questions in writing.
University of Sharjah, Sharjah. Active CAA Doctor of Medicine, while the university page uses MBBS. Six years and 237 credits. AED 93,160 for foundation and AED 124,215 annually for medicine in the schedule applying from 2022 to 2023 onwards. Clerkships use Sharjah public hospitals and the degree page does not establish a post-degree internship. The current admission page requires the secondary certificate to have been obtained in the UAE, excluding Class XII completed in India.
RAKMHSU, Ras Al Khaimah. Active CAA Doctor of Medicine, six years. A current 2026 to 2027 figure was not verified on a definitive public fee page. Training uses affiliated government and private hospitals. Current internship provider, selection terms and local licence treatment need written answers.
Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi. Four-year postgraduate MD after a bachelor’s degree, not an undergraduate MBBS. A current MD-specific 2027 fee was not verified on one definitive programme page. Clinical work is included in years 3 and 4. The 48-month degree appears shorter than NMC’s 54-month floor, and no programme-specific NMC ruling was found.

The table also shows why city-only searches can mislead. Dubai has medicine programmes, but Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah add viable six-year choices, while one well-known Sharjah programme currently excludes students who completed school in India. Location should follow route eligibility, not lead it.

GMU, MBRU and DMU publish enough detail to compare a six-year route, but the comparison still stops before professional recognition. GMU names a post-degree internship and publishes its separate charge. MBRU publishes a separate internship admission process. DMU’s reviewed degree page explains its academic phases without establishing a guaranteed 12-month internship. These are materially different forms of evidence even before a regulator reviews them.

Clinical exposure also cannot be ranked honestly from the public pages reviewed. Universities name hospitals, rotations or affiliated facilities, but comparable patient volumes and hands-on case numbers are not published consistently. A claim that one programme offers more clinical experience would therefore exceed the evidence. The stronger comparison is whether the university names the training sites, rotations, assessment method and logbook evidence that a graduate can retain.

Tuition is only one part of the wider cost of living in Dubai and the UAE. The fee years shown above are stated beside each figure because a medical course lasts long enough for several fee revisions.

Will a UAE medical degree be valid in India?

It can support registration in India only when the graduate satisfies every current NMC condition. CAA accreditation and a six-year label are useful evidence, but neither replaces NMC’s duration, internship, subject, language, foreign licence, Indian internship and examination requirements.

NMC’s rule for entrants covered by the 2021 regulations is explicit about the course itself.

undergone a course leading to foreign medical degree with minimum duration of fifty-four months; Undergone an internship for a minimum duration of twelve months in the same foreign medical institution;
National Medical Commission, Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021

The wording makes two periods distinct. The course leading to the degree must run for at least 54 months, and the foreign internship must add at least 12 months in the same foreign medical institution. NMC’s current FAQ says internship follows completion of the MBBS course, so clinical postings inside the degree cannot simply be counted again as the post-degree internship.

Step Requirement Evidence to preserve
1 Qualify NEET before starting the foreign primary medical qualification. NEET scorecard and the eligibility record required for the admission year.
2 Complete at least 54 months in the course leading to the foreign medical degree. Official curriculum, enrolment dates, transcripts and degree award date.
3 Complete at least 12 months of internship in the same foreign medical institution. Offer, training site, rotations, logbook, completion certificate and the institution’s legal relationship to the university.
4 Study in English and cover the subjects and clinical training required by NMC. Medium-of-instruction letter, detailed syllabus and rotation records.
5 Be registered or eligible for the foreign licence on terms comparable with a citizen of the awarding country. Written regulator evidence naming the degree and internship route.
6 Complete the required supervised internship in India. NMC or State Medical Council allotment and completion record.
7 Clear NExT or another examination mandated by NMC at that time. The result required when the graduate applies, since today’s exam may change before graduation.

The foreign licence condition deserves its own written answer. NMC requires eligibility that is comparable with the licence available to a citizen of the country awarding the degree.

registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant license to practice medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the license to practice medicine given to citizen of that country;
National Medical Commission, Regulation 4(b)

A statement that graduates may sit a UAE licensing examination is not the same as proof that the whole route meets this wording. The university, internship provider and relevant UAE health regulator need to explain what an international graduate becomes eligible to hold after completing every stage.

The remaining requirements are also cumulative. English as the medium of instruction does not replace the subject and clinical-training standard. Passing the Indian examination does not repair a course that was too short. Completing a foreign internship does not remove the later supervised internship in India. The regulation is a route with several conditions, not a choice between alternative conditions.

The examination name is the one part a 2027 entrant can’t lock in now. The regulation refers to NExT or another test mandated by NMC, while NBEMS continued to operate FMGE in 2026. A student graduating around 2033 will follow the test in force at the time of registration, so an admission promise about one named exam has no reliable value today.

NEET works differently because it applies before enrolment. NMC treats NEET qualification as mandatory for Indian and OCI students taking a primary medical qualification abroad. The UAE university may use its own entrance test instead of NEET for admission, but the student still needs the Indian pre-admission requirement for the return route.

Can a four-year UAE MD satisfy NMC’s 54-month rule?

No official UAE-programme decision was found, and the published duration creates a serious unresolved risk. Four years is 48 months, which appears six months shorter than NMC’s minimum 54-month course requirement for the course leading to the foreign medical degree.

GMU, MBRU and Khalifa University publish four-year graduate-entry MD routes. These programmes may be legitimate UAE medical qualifications, but local legitimacy does not answer India’s separate registration test. An earlier bachelor’s degree also cannot be assumed to extend the duration of the course leading to the medical degree unless NMC says it does for that exact route.

Published four-year MD duration = 4 years × 12 months = 48 months

In a worked example, a student completes a three-year BSc in India and then a four-year UAE MD. The total time in higher education is seven years, but the published medical course remains 48 months. NMC’s rule refers to the course leading to the foreign medical degree, so only written NMC or State Medical Council advice can settle whether the earlier BSc changes the treatment.

Do not treat this as a declaration that every four-year UAE MD is ineligible. The defensible conclusion is narrower. The programme appears to miss the 54-month floor, no UAE-specific NMC ruling was found, and a student planning an India return should obtain a written answer that names the university, programme, 48-month duration and Regulation 4(a)(i) before paying a deposit.

A useful written request includes the admission route and earlier degree rather than asking whether a UAE MD is recognised in general. It should state the bachelor’s qualification, the four-year medical curriculum, the expected award, the planned internship and the intention to seek registration in India. A general reply about the university may leave the 54-month question unanswered.

The risk is different for a student who has no intention of registering in India. That student still needs to check UAE programme accreditation, internship access and professional licensing, but the NMC duration rule is not the authority deciding UAE practice. The intended country of professional registration changes which regulator gives the controlling answer.

How do clinical training, internship, licensing and residency differ in the UAE?

They are four separate stages. Clinical training is part of the degree, internship follows graduation, professional licensing gives legal authority to practise, and residency is later specialist training with its own selection. Completing one stage does not guarantee a place in the next.

Step Stage What happens What is not guaranteed
1 Clinical clerkships You rotate through hospitals and specialties while still enrolled in the degree. A clerkship does not become the separate post-degree internship merely because it is clinical.
2 Internship application You apply to a university, hospital network or health-authority programme and may enter a match or interview. A seat is not automatically attached to every medical degree offer.
3 One-year internship You train under a trainee licence across the required rotations and receive an internship completion record. Completion does not by itself create a full professional licence.
4 Professional evaluation and licence The relevant regulator reviews education, internship, verified documents and any examination requirement. An accredited degree alone does not authorise independent practice.
5 Residency selection You apply for specialist training through a separate screened and competitive process. A UAE degree or internship does not guarantee a residency place.

The Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements are used across the main UAE health authorities to assess education, experience and licensing. MOHAP then lists professional evaluation, document verification and a work invitation among the separate licensing requirements on its doctor licensing service.

Internship access is a genuine planning issue. The Dubai Unified Internship describes one-year medical and dental programmes, while the Abu Dhabi DoH internship publishes its own application window, eligibility thresholds and match. Neither page turns a university admission into an internship guarantee.

Abu Dhabi’s published route illustrates the gap between graduation and internship. DoH accepts eligible UAE and international graduates, sets academic thresholds for each group and runs an annual application and match. Dubai asks foreign-degree applicants for additional evaluation and English evidence. These requirements mean that the final year of university is also an application year, not merely the end of the degree.

Residency begins later and answers a different career question. The Dubai residency programme requires a completed recognised internship and makes final enrolment conditional on professional licensing. It also uses screening and interviews. A brochure reference to residency opportunities is not evidence of a reserved place for the university’s graduates.

For an Indian return, the UAE internship documents need to do two jobs. They must support the UAE professional route, and they must let NMC identify the foreign institution, dates and rotations. The safest record includes the internship offer, trainee licence, hospital list, rotation logbook, supervisor sign-off and completion certificate rather than a single one-line letter.

What should you budget beyond UAE medicine tuition?

The published annual tuition can omit the money required after the degree. Internship application, training and trainee-licence charges may sit outside the six-year fee, and a separately selected internship can also add time between graduation and training.

Item Published amount (AED) Who publishes it Budget treatment
GMU six-year MD tuition AED 155,000 per year Gulf Medical University Multiply only after checking annual fee revision terms for your cohort.
GMU graduate internship training AED 42,000 GMU medical internship programme Add after tuition because the internship is separately selected and charged.
GMU internship trainee licence AED 3,300 GMU medical internship programme Add to the internship budget, not the degree tuition.
Dubai medical internship application AED 220 Dubai Health Authority service This is an application charge, not proof of selection.
Dubai medical internship training AED 30,000 Dubai Health Authority service Keep as a separate post-degree line.

A simple GMU illustration shows the difference between advertised tuition and the route cost. Six years at the published 2026 tuition would be AED 930,000 if the fee never changed. Adding the current graduate internship and trainee licence brings that illustration to AED 975,300 before housing, insurance, visa costs and future fee changes.

Illustrative GMU route cost = 6 × AED 155,000 + AED 42,000 + AED 3,300 = AED 975,300

The illustration isn’t a fee quote for the full six-year period. It holds the current annual amount constant only to show why internship belongs in the budget. Future annual tuition, the applicant’s selected internship and the wider UAE student residence costs will change the total.

There is also a timing cost even when an internship fee is affordable. A separate application can place selection after the degree, and the published Dubai and Abu Dhabi routes use defined annual cycles. Missing one cycle can delay the start of professional training. The course budget should therefore include both the fee and enough living funds for any period between graduation and the internship start.

Scholarships need the same separation. A tuition concession reduces the academic fee but does not automatically cover internship training, trainee licensing or professional evaluation. The current UAE scholarship options should be matched against each cost line rather than subtracted from an assumed all-inclusive course total.

What do Indian Class XII applicants need for UAE medicine admission?

Indian applicants face programme-specific science marks, entrance assessments, English evidence and interviews, and the university’s admission rule is separate from India’s NEET requirement. A university may admit without using NEET in its own selection, while NMC still requires NEET qualification for an Indian or OCI student pursuing a primary medical qualification abroad.

GMU provides a useful India-specific example. Its six-year MD admission page lists 75% in Biology, 75% in Chemistry and 50% in Physics or Mathematics for State Board, CBSE or ICSE applicants. It also publishes an entrance test, a written situational judgement assessment, English evidence, an interview and a minimum 70% weighted selection score.

  • Keep your Class X and Class XII mark sheets, school-leaving certificate and subject-wise science marks ready.
  • Preserve the NEET scorecard even when the UAE university does not use it for its own ranking.
  • Retain the exact curriculum and admission conditions that applied to your cohort.
  • Ask whether the award title and duration in the offer match the active CAA record.
  • Separate scholarship thresholds from admission thresholds. RAKMHSU’s 20% first-year concession at 97% or above does not mean 97% guarantees admission.

University of Sharjah shows why a high mark is not always the deciding filter. Its current page asks for strong academic results but also limits medicine to students whose secondary certificate was obtained in the UAE. An applicant who completed Class XII in India is outside that published route even with marks above the academic minimum.

Admission and professional recognition should be checked in that order but decided together. The entrance test, science thresholds and interview determine whether the university offers a seat. NMC and the professional regulators determine what the graduate can do with the qualification later. A strong admission profile cannot repair an unresolved internship or return-registration condition.

The dates also need a fresh cycle check. DMU published 120 six-year places and 10 four-year places for 2026 to 2027, with its own placement examination and multiple mini interviews. Those figures describe that admission cycle and cannot be carried into 2027 entry as a promise. Medical admissions often close earlier than a general university application, so the live medicine page controls.

How does dentistry in the UAE work for an Indian return?

Dentistry follows a different Indian regulatory route and should not be judged by NMC’s medical rules. The foreign dental framework, now available through the National Dental Commission site, uses its own course-duration, local-practice and screening-test conditions.

The official foreign dental regulations state the study-mode and duration requirement directly.

Only full time in-house courses shall be considered for equivalence of foreign dental qualification to the qualification awarded by the Indian universities. The Primary Dental Qualification with the minimum duration of 5 years shall be equivalent to BDS Degree awarded by an Indian university.
Dental Council of India Screening Test Regulations with amendments

The rules also require the foreign qualification to support enrolment as a dental practitioner in the country where it was awarded. NBEMS was still conducting the Foreign Dental Screening Test for BDS graduates in 2026, with 50% required separately in the theory stage and viva. A 2027 entrant should not assume that today’s test format will remain unchanged through graduation.

Institution, CAA programme and duration Published tuition (AED per year) Clinical, internship and India-return treatment
Gulf Medical University. Active CAA Bachelor of Dental Surgery, five years and 200 credits. AED 132,300 for 2026 to 2027. Training uses Thumbay Dental Hospitals. The separate internship costs AED 63,000 plus AED 3,000 for a trainee licence. Local dentist enrolment and the current Indian process still need written proof.
University of Sharjah. Active CAA BDS, five years full time. AED 90,542 for foundation and AED 120,722 annually for dental medicine in the schedule applying from 2022 to 2023 onwards. Clinical training uses University Dental Hospital Sharjah, but the degree page does not establish a guaranteed post-degree internship. Obtain current proof of local licence eligibility and the Indian return route.
RAKMHSU. Active CAA BDS, described by the university as five years. A current 2026 to 2027 figure was not verified on a definitive page. The university describes its own clinics and an NIHS-accredited internship. Ask whether internship is guaranteed, separately selected and separately charged.
Ajman University. Active CAA BDS, five years and 201 credits. A current amount was not reliably extracted from the official 2026 to 2027 fee brochure. The programme uses a patient-care model, but a guaranteed post-degree internship was not established. Confirm the local licence and current Indian return process.

One Indian dental step remains unclear in the official material. The compiled regulations show that the earlier eligibility-certificate provision was deleted in 2018, while the current NDC site still hosts an eligibility-certificate form. Do not assume either answer. Obtain current written instructions from the National Dental Commission and retain the reply with your application records.

The dental duration question is clearer than the medicine four-year issue but does not settle the full route. GMU, University of Sharjah, RAKMHSU and Ajman University publish five-year BDS routes or CAA records that meet the obvious duration screen. The applicant still needs evidence that the qualification supports enrolment as a dentist in the UAE and must follow the Indian foreign-dental screening and registration requirements in force after graduation.

Dental internship costs can also be larger than the medicine internship line. GMU publishes AED 63,000 for its own dental graduates plus AED 3,000 for the trainee licence. That amount sits outside the five-year academic fee. A dental budget that compares tuition alone therefore omits a current published cost that comes before professional practice.

The Foreign Dental Screening Test is not FMGE under another name. It has its own theory and viva structure, and the 2026 result notice required 50% in each theory paper to reach the viva and 50% separately in the viva. Medicine and dentistry should remain separate in both academic planning and India-return advice.

What should you get in writing before paying a medical or dental deposit?

The written record should connect the exact degree to every later stage, because separate webpages rarely make that connection for you. A useful reply names the award, course dates, internship provider, trainee licence, local professional outcome and the Indian regulation you are asking about.

  1. Download the exact active award from the CAA programme register and save the record with the date.
  2. Ask the university to confirm the award title printed for your intake and the start and completion dates of the course leading to it.
  3. Ask whether the post-degree internship is included, guaranteed, separately selected or separately charged.
  4. Ask which institution issues the internship certificate and which regulator issues the trainee licence.
  5. Ask whether an international graduate completing this route becomes eligible for a UAE professional licence on the required terms.
  6. For medicine, send the full written route to NMC or the relevant State Medical Council and quote Regulations 4(a)(i), 4(a)(ii) and 4(b).
  7. For dentistry, request current written instructions from the National Dental Commission on the foreign qualification, eligibility document and screening route.
  8. Preserve syllabi, transcripts, medium-of-instruction evidence, clinical logbooks, internship documents and regulator replies for the full course period.

The related UAE certificate attestation and recognition process may authenticate academic documents, but attestation does not decide medical or dental professional registration. These are separate questions handled by different authorities.

The most useful replies are specific enough to survive a staff change several years later. A message saying that a graduate is eligible to apply is weaker than one naming the regulator, application category, required internship and licence outcome. A message saying internship opportunities are available is weaker than one stating whether the seat is guaranteed, selected by merit or entered through a health-authority match.

Keep the records for longer than the admission cycle. A six-year medicine student may need the original 2027 curriculum, cohort fee letter and programme status when applying for registration in the early 2030s. A current webpage can change, while a dated offer and downloaded regulation preserve the terms on which the decision was made.

Key takeaways

  • No UAE medical university is automatically NMC approved. NMC asks students to verify the exact course, duration and internship.
  • NMC requires at least 54 months in the foreign medical course and at least 12 months of internship in the same foreign medical institution.
  • A four-year graduate-entry MD is 48 months and appears shorter than the 54-month rule. No UAE-programme-specific NMC decision was found.
  • Clinical clerkships, post-degree internship, professional licensing and residency are separate stages with separate decisions.
  • A separately selected internship can add a large cost. GMU publishes AED 42,000 plus AED 3,300 for its own medical graduates.
  • University of Sharjah currently limits medicine to students whose secondary certificate was obtained in the UAE.
  • Dentistry uses a separate Indian route, including a five-year full-time course rule and the Foreign Dental Screening Test framework.

Frequently asked questions

Is MBBS in Dubai valid in India?

It can be, but UAE accreditation alone does not prove Indian registration eligibility. NMC requires at least 54 months in the foreign medical course, a separate 12-month internship in the same foreign institution, English-medium study, required subjects, foreign licence eligibility, an Indian internship and the mandated examination.

Is there an NMC-approved medical university list for the UAE?

No. NMC states that it does not endorse a list of foreign medical universities. An Indian applicant must verify the exact programme, course duration, curriculum, internship and foreign licence route against the current regulations. A CAA listing answers the UAE accreditation question, not the complete India-return question.

Can an Indian student apply for medicine in Dubai after Class XII?

Yes, several six-year UAE MD routes accept school-leavers, but each publishes different science marks, assessments and English conditions. GMU lists India-specific CBSE, ICSE and State Board thresholds. University of Sharjah currently restricts medicine to students whose secondary certificate was obtained in the UAE.

Does a four-year MD from the UAE meet NMC rules?

No programme-specific NMC decision was found. A four-year MD is 48 months, which appears shorter than NMC’s 54-month minimum for the course leading to the foreign medical degree. An Indian applicant should obtain written NMC or State Medical Council confirmation naming the exact programme before paying a deposit.

Is the medical internship included in UAE tuition?

Not always. Internship may have a separate application, selection process and fee. GMU publishes AED 42,000 for its own medical graduates plus AED 3,300 for the trainee licence, while Dubai publishes a separate medical internship training fee. The admission offer should state the internship terms clearly.

Will an Indian graduate write FMGE or NExT after a UAE MD?

The exam cannot be promised for a student graduating several years from now. NMC’s current regulation allows NExT or another mandated test, while NBEMS was still conducting FMGE in 2026. The examination in force when the graduate applies for registration will control the route.

Do Indian students need NEET for medicine in the UAE?

Yes, when the student intends the Indian foreign-medical-graduate route. NMC says NEET qualification is mandatory for Indian and OCI students taking a primary medical qualification abroad, even if the UAE university does not use NEET for its own admission ranking. Preserve the result and current eligibility record.

Is dentistry in the UAE valid for registration in India?

It may be, but dentistry has its own Indian rules. The foreign dental framework requires a full-time in-house primary qualification of at least five years and local practitioner eligibility, followed by the applicable Indian screening and registration process. Current NDC instructions should be obtained before enrolment.
