Semester One 2027
What is the University of Auckland Bachelor of Science in 2027?
The University of Auckland Bachelor of Science is a 360-point, three-year campus degree with 22 majors and three specialisations. The published 2027 fee endpoints produce an approximate three-year planning range of INR 1.47 crore to INR 1.66 crore when later tuition is held flat.
The degree combines a Science core, 30 General Education points and advanced-study floors with either a major plus numeracy and capstone study, or one specialisation. This page describes Semester One 2027. The University has not published 2028 or 2029 tuition, the 2027 Student Services Fee or the 2027 Studentsafe premium.
How much could the University of Auckland BSc cost for three years?
The three-year comparison is NZD 257,090.20 to NZD 291,074.20, approximately INR 1.47 crore to INR 1.66 crore. It holds the published 2027 tuition range flat, uses 156 weeks of the upper University-linked living estimate and holds the latest 2026 levy and insurance figures flat.
Three-year campus planning range
| Item | INR | Local currency | When it is due |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 tuition at published 2027 range | INR 28.28 to 34.74 lakh | NZD 49,581.60 to 60,909.60 | 2027 per 120 points |
| Year 2 with 2027 rate held flat | INR 28.28 to 34.74 lakh | NZD 49,581.60 to 60,909.60 | Planning assumption only |
| Year 3 with 2027 rate held flat | INR 28.28 to 34.74 lakh | NZD 49,581.60 to 60,909.60 | Planning assumption only |
| Living estimate for 156 weeks | INR 57.84 lakh | NZD 101,400 | NZD 650 weekly |
| Student Services Fee held flat | INR 1.94 lakh | NZD 3,398.40 | 2026 rate for 3 years |
| Studentsafe held flat | INR 1.54 lakh | NZD 2,697 | 2026 premium for 3 years |
| Fee Paying Student Visa | INR 48,485 | NZD 850 | Current minimum, once |
| Three-year planning range | INR 146.65 to 166.03 lakh | NZD 257,090.20 to 291,074.20 | Not a fixed quote |
Immigration New Zealand's NZD 20,000 annual living-funds requirement is evidence of available money rather than an extra cost added above the living row. Outward travel also needs evidence. Converted at NZD 1 = INR 57.04094 using the RBNZ NZD to USD figure and RBI USD to INR reference rate for 25 August 2026. Retail remittance rates can differ.
The University publishes a 2027 BSc estimate of NZD 49,581.60 to NZD 60,909.60 per 120 points. Course selection produces the range, so a laboratory or health-heavy plan need not bill like a computational route. The exact invoice follows enrolment.
Three years of tuition at an unchanged 2027 range equal NZD 148,744.80 to NZD 182,728.80. The calculation is transparent but uncertain. The University hasn’t published the prices a 2027 starter will pay in 2028 and 2029, and later fees can rise.
Living uses the upper NZD 650 weekly estimate in the University’s English Language Academy material. Across 156 weeks this equals NZD 101,400. It covers accommodation, food and transport at a planning level, not a guaranteed room or a complete personal lifestyle budget.
The 2027 Student Services Fee isn’t yet set. The comparison therefore holds the latest 2026 rate of NZD 9.44 per point flat for three 120-point years, producing NZD 3,398.40. This is an assumption and must be replaced when the University publishes the 2027 figure.
The latest Studentsafe premium is NZD 899 for one student for a full 2026 year. Holding it flat for three years adds NZD 2,697. The University normally registers international students unless it approves another policy, but the 2027 premium remains unpublished.
The arithmetic is NZD 148,744.80 to NZD 182,728.80 tuition, plus NZD 101,400 living, NZD 3,398.40 service fees, NZD 2,697 insurance and one NZD 850 visa. Books, flights, medicals, police documents, deposits, course materials and field or laboratory costs remain outside the total.
No direct-entry undergraduate scholarship is deducted. Current exact records restrict the India High Achievers and International Student Excellence scholarships to master’s study, while older University discovery pages still mention undergraduate access. A family should budget without them until a written BSc award is confirmed.
Part-time income is also excluded. Visa conditions may permit work, but a course timetable, practical sessions, job availability and study performance decide whether income is realistic. It shouldn’t be used to erase the later-year funding gap.
The INR range uses official reference inputs for 25 August 2026. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand series showed NZD 1 at USD 0.59595 and the Reserve Bank of India archive showed USD 1 at INR 95.7143. Multiplication gives NZD 1 at INR 57.04094 before bank or card spreads. Immigration New Zealand states the funding rule directly:
“If you are applying for a student visa, you will need to show that you have enough money to live on and cover all your expenses while you are in New Zealand.”Immigration New Zealand, student fund requirements
This doesn’t replace the three-year plan and can’t make later tuition predictable.
Can an Indian Class 12 student enter the University of Auckland BSc?
Yes, when the applicant meets the route-specific board average, separate English requirement and any course preparation. Named boards need 80% for most routes or 81% for a health major. Other State Boards need 82% or 84% respectively. The programme remains limited entry.
2027 India entry checks
| Requirement | Published rule | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| ISC or AISSC (India) | 80% other routes or 81% health majors | Calculate the best four academic subjects |
| Maharashtra, Karnataka or West Bengal (India) | 80% other routes or 81% health majors | Use the named-board band |
| Other State Boards (India) | 82% other routes or 84% health majors | Use the other-board band |
| Score calculation (India) | Best four academic subjects only | Exclude local languages and non-academic subjects |
| Academic English in entry table (India) | 70% named boards or 75% other boards | Check the separate proficiency rule too |
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 overall and no band below 5.5 | Submit one valid sitting |
| Class 12 English waiver (India) | 70% named boards or 80% other boards | Take an approved test if the waiver fails |
| Test validity | Two years at programme commencement | Check the result against 1 March 2027 |
| School subjects | No formal BSc subject condition | Match preparation to first-year courses |
| Six health majors | Higher entry band and Semester One start | Choose the health pathway before applying |
| Clinical first year | Five named courses and eight-course grade conditions | Build the published first-year plan |
| Limited entry | Minimum scores do not guarantee a place | Keep a realistic alternative route |
The board split is a programme-specific 2027 rule. ISC, AISSC, Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal form one group. All other Higher Secondary State Boards form the second. A generic Indian percentage hides a two-point difference for ordinary routes and a three-point difference for health majors.
The overall average uses the best four academic subjects. Local languages and non-academic subjects are excluded, so a five-subject school average can misstate eligibility in either direction. Recalculate before comparing the result with 80%, 81%, 82% or 84%.
No school subject is a formal BSc admission requirement. That does not make Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or health-oriented study equally accessible without preparation. The 2027 subject guide identifies recommended or strongly recommended school subjects for intended first-year courses.
English evidence has its own timing. Accepted test results and relevant prior study normally need to remain valid at programme commencement. IELTS One Skill Retake is accepted when completed within 60 days of the original test and when the combined result meets the published standard.
The health-major route contains a second selection problem after admission. The student must complete the common first-year courses, meet the combined GPA and individual-grade conditions, and then compete through the separate clinical application. A rejected clinical application does not transform the BSc into a professional clinical award.
Indian academic recognition also depends on intended use. UGC equivalence is case-specific and professional fields governed by statutory councils fall outside the general equivalence regulations. Get the relevant written decision before choosing the degree for public employment, further study or a regulated occupation in India.
Five checks that decide an Indian BSc file
Choose the 2027 label, not an old major
Biological Sciences and Biomedical Science are not current new-entry BSc majors. Use the binding 2027 Catalogue before selecting a route.Separate academic English from an English waiver
An other-State-Board student with 75% to 79% in English can meet the entry-table mark but miss the 80% Class 12 English waiver. That file needs another approved English route.Treat health entry as a first competition
An 81% or 84% school result can reach BSc consideration. It does not reserve entry to Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry or Medical Imaging after first year.Do not use Semester Two for the clinical plan
The normal BSc has July entry, but a student seeking later clinical selection through the six health majors must begin in Semester One.Check professional study beyond the major
Psychology, Nutrition and clinical health routes require further approved study or selection for professional registration. The three-year BSc alone is not the licence.
How should an Indian student apply for the University of Auckland BSc?
The route has two hand-overs. Apply directly to the University by 8 December 2026 for Semester One 2027, then use the Offer of Place and funding evidence for Immigration New Zealand. A health-major clinical plan needs an earlier subject decision because July entry does not support that route.
Select the Bachelor of Science and a current 2027 subject, upload passport, Class 12 and English evidence, answer University requests, accept the Offer of Place, follow fee instructions and apply separately for the student visa.
The longest dependent task chain needs 80 days. Tasks without dependencies can run in parallel. From 27 August 2026 there are 103 days to the official deadline, leaving 23 days of buffer.
| Start by | Task | Takes | Why this date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 Sep 2026 | Settle English evidence | 45 days | Class 12 waiver or an accepted valid test. |
| 13 Oct 2026 | Choose the 2027 route | 21 days | Major or specialisation, backup and clinical intent. |
| 20 Oct 2026 | Recalculate board marks | 14 days | Best four academic subjects under the correct board group. |
| 03 Nov 2026 | Complete the University file | 21 days | Passport, school records and requested supporting evidence. |
| 24 Nov 2026 | Submit before the close | 14 days | Leave time for corrections before 8 December 2026. |
The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by University of Auckland.
Semester One is the cleanest start for every route and the only valid start for a health-major student seeking later clinical selection. The international Semester Two deadline is 8 June 2027, but a July applicant should obtain a written course sequence before assuming all prerequisites still fit into three years.
Use the exact current subject label in the application. Older discovery pages can still display Biomedical Science, Biological Sciences or Food Science and Nutrition. The 2027 Catalogue instead controls the major, pathway and specialisation names.
Upload the school record in a form that shows the board, subjects and marks clearly. The University calculates the best four academic subjects and treats board groups differently. If an intended first-year course relies on Mathematics or a laboratory science, retain Class 11 and 12 subject evidence for assessment.
English can be settled through recent Class 12 marks or an approved test. The separate waiver threshold matters most for other State Boards. A mark that clears the academic entry table may still be too low to replace IELTS.
After an Offer of Place, follow the University’s payment and insurance instructions. Immigration New Zealand separately assesses tuition funding, NZD 20,000 annual living funds, outward travel, health, character, insurance and genuine study intentions.
The visa currently starts at NZD 850 and 80% of applications are processed within 8.5 weeks. Immigration New Zealand encourages offshore applicants to apply three months before travel. These are current service figures, not guaranteed processing promises for every file.
What can follow the University of Auckland Bachelor of Science?
There is no honest umbrella job or salary for 22 majors and three specialisations. The University names broad sectors but publishes no BSc placement rate, salary distribution or employer cohort. Computing, laboratory, environmental, quantitative, behavioural and health routes lead to different work and further-study decisions.
| Measure | Figure | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| BSc placement rate | Not published | Exact programme sources checked |
| BSc salary distribution | Not published | Outcomes vary by route |
| Employer cohort | Not published | Sectors only |
| Professional licence | None degree-wide | Regulator and route decide |
| NZQCF level | Level 7 | Bachelor's degree |
| Post-study work | Conditional | Current INZ degree rules |
| Indian equivalence | Case-specific | UGC 2025 process |
Every career statement must follow the selected major. One subject's projects, professional route or graduate story cannot represent the full Bachelor of Science.
Computer Science, Data Science, Information and Technology Management, Logic and Computation, Mathematics and Statistics can support computing and quantitative directions. Six Computer Science students across 2019 to 2024 describe a theory-led route and recommend building practical work outside class. Their comments do not prove employment results.
Chemistry, Cell and Molecular Bioscience, Food Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Nutrition, Pharmacology and Physiology can support laboratory, technical and further research routes. The terminal qualification needed depends on the role. Independent research and specialist science commonly involve Honours, master’s or doctoral study.
Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Marine Science and Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution can support field, spatial, environmental and research directions. Practical work and course costs differ by plan, so no one fieldwork promise applies to every BSc student.
Psychology needs a firm professional boundary. The New Zealand Psychologists Board requires postgraduate professional preparation and supervised practice for registration. A three-year BSc Psychology major is academic preparation, not the registration qualification.
Nutrition has a similar limit. The New Zealand Dietitians Board lists an approved postgraduate Nutrition and Dietetics qualification for registration. The BSc Nutrition major by itself does not make a graduate a registered dietitian.
The six health majors are also not clinical degrees. They can support first-year eligibility to compete for Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry or Medical Imaging. Clinical selection, completion of the separate professional award and any regulator requirements remain additional steps.
Three named graduate reflections place peer relationships at the centre of their BSc experience. The accounts span different majors and are positive graduation posts. They suggest that peer networks can matter, but they do not establish a typical experience for international students or the new 2027 routes.
UGC’s 2025 regulations provide case-specific academic equivalence for foreign qualifications. They assess the institution, entry level, duration or credits, curriculum and assessment. Professional fields under Indian statutory councils sit outside that general process, so return-to-India planning must name the exact occupation.
Current Immigration New Zealand rules allow a Level 7 degree studied full time for at least 30 weeks to support a Post Study Work Visa application. For Level 7 or 8, duration normally follows time spent studying. A 2027 entrant will apply years later and must recheck the law near graduation.
How is University of Auckland science ranked?
Rankings provide subject context, not an admission rule or an outcome guarantee. The Faculty of Science reports QS 2026 positions for broad areas and individual disciplines, while the University reports overall QS and THE positions. None is a rank for the umbrella Bachelor of Science itself.
Who is the University of Auckland Bachelor of Science for?
The strongest fit is a student who can name a current major, has suitable Class 12 preparation and accepts that the degree may lead to postgraduate or professional study. The weakest fit expects the broad BSc title to guarantee a clinical place, licensed profession, internship, salary or fixed three-year price.
Match the applicant to the 2027 structure
| Verdict | Your background | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strong fit | Student with one defined 2027 major and a backup | The 360-point structure can support depth and some choice when prerequisites are planned early. |
| Strong fit | Student combining a major with numeracy and broader study | The major route formally includes numeracy, a capstone, General Education and limited outside study. |
| Needs evidence | Student considering a double major or modules | Both plans, advanced-stage floors and the 360-point ceiling must fit without assuming every pairing works. |
| Needs evidence | Student using a health major for clinical selection | The pathway exists, but the first-year course and grade conditions create a separate competition. |
| Do not shortlist | Student seeking direct psychologist or dietitian registration | The BSc major alone is not the prescribed professional qualification. |
| Do not shortlist | Student expecting Biomedical Science as a 2027 BSc major | That legacy label is not open for new 2027 BSc admission. |
| Do not shortlist | Family needing a guaranteed three-year cost | Later tuition and the 2027 service and insurance charges are not yet published. |
A clear primary subject makes the application, budget and career discussion more honest. It identifies school preparation, first-year courses, practical commitments, likely tuition position and whether further study or registration is expected.
Flexibility should be planned, not assumed. A double major is possible only when both plans fit the degree rules. Modules sit within schedule limits, while specialisations already carry 240 to 285 points and leave far less open space.
A clinical-pathway applicant needs tolerance for uncertainty and a credible BSc fallback. Even after the school-entry mark and first-year course conditions are met, later selection into a professional programme remains competitive and uncertain.
A cost-sensitive family needs a later-year buffer. The planning range uses published and clearly labelled inputs, but 2028 and 2029 tuition can change. Laboratory, field, travel and course-material costs can also differ by selected route.
What does the 2027 University of Auckland BSc curriculum contain?
The 360-point degree has no single course list because every major and specialisation differs. The complete programme-level map contains 22 base majors, four named pathways, three specialisations, ten numeracy choices and 23 capstones, alongside General Education, advanced-stage floors and the zero-point Academic Integrity course.

| Total | 360 |
- Complete 360 total points and 300 to 330 Science points
- Complete 30 General Education points and zero to 30 approved points from other University programmes
- Complete at least 180 points above Stage I, including at least 75 points above Stage II
- Complete at least one major with exactly 15 numeracy points and exactly 15 capstone points, or complete one specialisation
- Complete ACADINT A01 as a zero-point requirement
- Use the exact selected plan because compulsory courses and prerequisites differ
- Treat double-major fit as a 360-point planning question, not an automatic entitlement
- Current 45-point BSc modules are Data Analysis, Exercising the Body and Mind, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Quantitative Critical Thinking and Communication, Science in Society, Science Scholars, Software Development, Spatial Data Analysis, Studies in Food and Health and Sustainability
- Use no more than four BSc Schedule modules and no more than one approved other-degree module within the Other Science Courses ceiling
- Apply published course-credit restrictions for the selected major
The major route keeps the degree broad but not unstructured. One major can occupy 120 to 180 points, while named pathways reach 270 points. Exactly 15 points of numeracy and 15 points of capstone are separate degree lines unless the selected plan governs them directly.
A specialisation is the alternative route. Applied Exercise and Sport Sciences requires 240 points, Green Chemical Science 260 and Data Science 285. These larger plans leave less elective room and should not have the major-route numeracy and capstone lines added again without checking the plan.
The ten numeracy choices span Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics and Physics. The choice should serve the major and first-year preparation rather than merely fill a box. A student without the expected school foundation may need careful sequencing even though the BSc has no formal subject condition for admission.
The 23 capstone options show how the route becomes subject-specific at Stage III. Chemistry has two choices, while most majors have one named course. INFOMGMT 399 receives credit only when the Information and Technology Management major is being completed.
The stage floors protect advanced study. At least half the degree must sit above Stage I and at least 75 points must sit above Stage II. A plan overloaded with first-year exploration can still fail the graduation architecture even when it reaches 360 total points.
Modules add coherent secondary themes without becoming another major. The 2027 Catalogue permits zero to four BSc modules and one module from another schedule within the published allocation. Science Scholars is restricted to students admitted to that programme.
Course restrictions matter when business, education, engineering, finance, innovation, planning or population-health courses enter the BSc. Several named courses receive BSc credit only for a specified major. The personal plan needs the current Catalogue rather than a generic elective list.
This table is complete at programme level. It lists every published 2027 major, named pathway, specialisation, numeracy course and capstone. The exact course-by-course curriculum remains the selected plan because no single sequence can truthfully represent 29 route variants.
Should an Indian student shortlist the University of Auckland BSc?
Shortlist it if you can name a current 2027 major, meet its Indian board threshold and accept that careers follow the chosen subject. The approved entry matrix, not a generic University percentage, decides whether your Class 12 result reaches consideration.
The useful flexibility comes after the compulsory architecture. A standard entrant completes 300 to 330 Science points, 30 General Education points and at least 180 points above Stage I. A major route adds one 15-point numeracy course and one 15-point capstone, while a specialisation follows its own larger plan.
Three things are genuinely hard here. Later-year tuition is unknown, so the three-year figure is planning arithmetic rather than a fixed quote. The umbrella BSc publishes no placement rate or salary. And Psychology, Nutrition and the six health majors do not themselves grant psychologist, dietitian or clinical registration, which makes this a poor terminal choice for an applicant seeking a direct professional licence.
Before deciding, compare three-year cost, Class 12 entry, current routes and professional limits.
- The University of Auckland BSc is a 360-point, three-year degree with 22 majors, four named pathways and three specialisations in the 2027 Catalogue.
- The full planning range is NZD 257,090.20 to NZD 291,074.20, approximately INR 1.47 crore to INR 1.66 crore under stated flat-rate assumptions.
- Indian entry ranges from 80% to 84% across board groups and routes, with separate Class 12 English or test evidence.
- A standard major route includes exactly 15 numeracy points and exactly 15 capstone points within the 360-point degree.
- The six health majors support later clinical competition but do not guarantee selection or grant a clinical licence.
- No exact BSc placement rate, salary distribution or employer cohort was published in the checked programme sources.
- Current immigration rules can support post-study work after qualifying Level 7 study, but a 2027 entrant must recheck them near graduation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the three-year University of Auckland BSc cost for an Indian student?
The planning range is NZD 257,090.20 to NZD 291,074.20, approximately INR 1.47 crore to INR 1.66 crore. It holds 2027 tuition flat for three years, adds 156 weeks of living, holds the latest 2026 service and insurance figures flat, and includes one current visa fee.
What Class 12 percentage is needed for the University of Auckland BSc?
ISC, AISSC, Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal applicants need 80% for most routes or 81% for a health major. Other State Boards need 82% or 84% respectively. The University uses the best four academic subjects, excludes local languages and non-academic subjects, and treats these as limited-entry consideration thresholds.
Does the University of Auckland BSc require IELTS?
Not always. IELTS Academic requires 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, but recent Class 12 English can qualify. Named boards need 70% for IELTS 6.0 equivalence, while other State Boards need 80%. A student below the applicable waiver threshold needs another approved English route.
How many majors does the University of Auckland BSc have in 2027?
The 2027 Catalogue has 22 base majors, four named pathways within Physics and Statistics, and three specialisations. The public programme page groups these as 25 broad subjects. Data Science, Green Chemical Science and Applied Exercise and Sport Sciences are specialisations, while Biological Sciences and Biomedical Science are not current new-entry BSc majors.
Can a BSc health major lead to Medicine at Auckland?
It can create eligibility to compete for later clinical selection, but it does not guarantee Medicine. The student must start in Semester One, enrol in one of six health majors, complete the named first-year courses, meet the published GPA and grade conditions, and apply separately by 1 July of the first BSc year.
Can an Indian student start the University of Auckland BSc in July 2027?
Yes, the normal BSc lists Semester Two beginning 19 July 2027 and the international application closes 8 June 2027. The exception matters. A student using one of the six health majors for later clinical selection must begin in Semester One, and other July applicants should verify prerequisite sequencing for their chosen route.
Does a University of Auckland BSc Psychology major grant psychologist registration?
No. The three-year Psychology major is an academic science route, not the New Zealand psychologist registration qualification. The Psychologists Board requires approved postgraduate professional preparation and supervised practice. An Indian applicant should also check UGC equivalence and any Indian professional or employer requirement for the intended use.
Can I work in New Zealand after the University of Auckland BSc?
Current rules allow a qualifying Level 7 degree studied full time in New Zealand for at least 30 weeks to support a Post Study Work Visa application. For Level 7 or 8 qualifications, duration normally follows time spent studying. Rules can change before a 2027 entrant graduates, and work rights never guarantee a job.
