University Admissions Sweden lets a master’s applicant rank up to 4 programmes, charges a fee-paying Indian applicant SEK 900 per semester, and removes every lower-ranked choice after one study place is offered. A bachelor’s applicant can rank up to 8 choices, subject to a 45-credit offer ceiling per semester.

Portal submission, fee payment and academic records use separate deadlines and evidence rules. The India bachelor’s instructions require Class XII records from the recognised board, while the India master’s instructions normally require degree and transcript records from the university’s registrar or examinations office; a college transcript is accepted only when the college is autonomous.

What does University Admissions Sweden handle?

UniversityAdmissions.se handles the national application, while each university controls its programme-specific academic judgement. The portal records your choices, checks central requirements, receives the fee and documents, and publishes results. The university decides whether your subject background fits and how eligible applicants are ranked.

The official master’s application sequence covers programme search, ranking, payment, documents and results. Applicants outside Sweden normally use an email address as the username.

Where should you get each answer?Green is the official central answer. Amber needs the programme page. Red is not reliable evidence.
Your question Source to use
What are the application, fee and document deadlines? UniversityAdmissions.se
Which Indian records meet the country instructions? UniversityAdmissions.se India page
Which previous subjects and documents does one programme require? The current programme page at the university
How will eligible applicants be compared? The programme’s selection criteria and admissions office
Will an unofficial acceptance rate or agent waiver guarantee admission? Neither claim establishes eligibility or selection

The division of responsibility changes how an application problem is solved. A missing fee or country document belongs to the central process, while a question about whether prior coursework satisfies a programme belongs to the university. If you send the same question to both, you’ll wait longer without changing who decides it. The source column therefore identifies the authority whose answer can affect the relevant part of the file.

How do you build an application on UniversityAdmissions.se?

You complete the application in seven steps. Before adding a programme, note its named prior subjects, summary sheet, language evidence and requested files beside that choice.

  1. Reuse your profile. Sign in with your existing details if you have applied before. University Admissions allows only one account.
  2. Search the correct intake. Confirm the start semester, study pace, campus and teaching language on every choice.
  3. Open the university’s programme page. Check general eligibility, named subjects, minimum previous credits, English level, selection method and extra documents.
  4. Add and rank your choices. Put the programme you would actually attend first.
  5. Submit before the application deadline. This is also the final day for an on-time ranking change.
  6. Pay and document the application. An Indian fee-paying applicant normally pays SEK 900 for the semester and uploads records by the later supporting-document deadline.
  7. Check the Application section. The portal later shows processing information, merit details where available and the Notification of Selection Results.

The application fee is SEK 900 per semester, regardless of how many choices or admissions rounds you use in that semester. It is non-refundable. The fee page says payment must arrive by the deadline. If it arrives later, University Admissions treats the application as late.

Swedish programmes don’t all ask for the same extra files. A CV, statement of purpose, portfolio or recommendation belongs in your application only when the programme requests it. The same rule matters when comparing master’s programmes in Sweden, because the degree title alone may not show whether you have the named prior subjects.

How should you rank choices on University Admissions Sweden?

A master’s applicant may select up to four programmes. Put them in the order you would genuinely accept, and finalise that order by the application deadline.

You can be offered only one study place. As soon as you’re offered a place in a programme, all the lower-ranked programmes will be deleted.

University Admissions in Sweden

Consider a four-choice master’s application. The example is about the portal’s logic, not the admission chance at any named university.

Rank Your preference Selection outcome What remains
1 Your first preference No place offered The system continues to rank 2
2 Your second preference Place offered This becomes your one offered study place
3 A programme you also like Lower than an offered place Deleted
4 Your final backup Lower than an offered place Deleted

The example shows that ranking is a preference mechanism, not a way to keep four offers open. Once rank 2 produces a place, ranks 3 and 4 disappear even if either later appears more attractive. Rank 1 remains above the offered place because it did not produce an offer. The practical consequence is that an inaccurately ordered list can remove a programme the applicant would have preferred to attend.

Bachelor’s ranking uses a different ceiling. You may select up to eight courses or programmes, and offers can total no more than 45 credits in a semester. A full-time programme is normally 30 credits per semester. The bachelor’s ranking rules delete lower choices once the offer total reaches the limit.

Which Sweden application deadlines control each action?

Three dates control different actions, so record them separately. The application deadline freezes an on-time ranking. The second deadline is when the fee and supporting documents must arrive. The result date tells you when to check the portal and university instructions.

These international-round dates were published on 5 August 2026.

Spring 2027 action First round Second round What the date controls
Applications open 1 June 2026 15 September 2026 You can begin selecting programmes
Apply and rank 17 August 2026 15 October 2026 Final on-time application and ranking day
Fee or fee status 1 September 2026 22 October 2026 Payment or exemption evidence must arrive
Supporting documents 1 September 2026 1 December 2026 Academic and requested programme files must arrive
Results 30 September for bachelor’s and 7 October for master’s 9 December, then reply by 16 December Check status and complete the required response

The first-round schedule separates submission from completion by fifteen days in this published Spring 2027 cycle. That interval allows approved supporting material to arrive after the ranking closes, but it does not extend the ranking deadline itself. The Second round offers a later application date, yet the official warning makes it unsuitable for an applicant who needs permit time. A later portal opening is therefore not automatically the safer international route.

The later document date is a completion cut-off, not extra time to start preparing. You’ll need to request the correct records from the Indian board or university before submitting your ranked application, then upload the final files when they’re ready.

The official date table says the Second round is too late for a non-EU or EEA applicant who needs a residence permit. The earlier result leaves time for tuition and the Sweden student residence permit.

Autumn 2027 dates were not yet published on the official autumn page when checked on 5 August 2026. Closed Autumn 2026 dates cannot supply a 2027 calendar. The live cycle becomes the controlling schedule once University Admissions publishes it.

Which Indian documents does University Admissions accept?

Indian documents are accepted when the qualification and issuing authority match the country instructions. For bachelor’s admission, the board issues the core Class XII records. For master’s admission, the university’s academic or examinations office issues the degree and transcripts.

Application level Record Accepted issuer or format Common problem
Bachelor’s Class XII examination certificate Nationally recognised board A school-issued certificate is not accepted
Bachelor’s Statement of marks Nationally recognised board, stamped and signed A school-issued or unstamped marks record is not accepted
Bachelor’s Mathematics proof for post-2009 graduates Class XII record or a passing SSC mathematics result Leaving out SSC when Class XII has no mathematics pass
Master’s Degree or provisional certificate Academic Registrar, Examinations Office or equivalent university office A college-issued diploma is not accepted
Master’s Every semester transcript The same authorised university office A college transcript is rejected unless the college is autonomous
Master’s Transferred or lateral-entry study Official records from the earlier post-secondary study Submitting only the final institution’s semesters
Both Passport identity page Clear copy matching the application account Name or birth date differs without official evidence
Both English evidence Accepted Indian board route or recognised test A generic medium-of-instruction letter is not sufficient

The issuer rule is as important as the content of the record. A complete transcript from a non-autonomous college can still fail the central format requirement, while the same academic history issued by the authorised university office can satisfy it. Bachelor’s records follow a different chain because the recognised board, not the school, supplies the core evidence. These distinctions explain why a clear scan is necessary but cannot repair an unacceptable issuer.

The official India routes add two eligibility cautions. The master’s instructions accept a three-year bachelor’s with honours, a four-year bachelor’s, or a bachelor’s followed by a master’s totalling four years for the central general requirement. The Class XII instructions reject DigiLocker and do not let university study replace the upper-secondary record for general eligibility.

Before uploading, run this final-file check.

  • Match each filename to one requested document.
  • Confirm the scan is complete, in colour and readable.
  • Check that every master’s transcript shows its issue date.
  • Put the programme name on a programme-specific letter when the university asks for separate versions.
  • Upload the final CV, motivation letter or recommendation, not a draft.

The official upload instructions say a received document becomes registered and cannot be deleted. The portal shows its filename, but you can’t open the uploaded copy, so check the file locally before sending it.

What can you change after the Sweden application deadline?

You can still complete some actions after the application deadline, but you cannot preserve on-time status while freely rebuilding the ranking. The separate document deadline remains usable. Reordering after the first deadline does not.

What still works after the deadline?Green remains on time. Amber works with a condition. Red is unavailable or unsafe.
Action Status and consequence
Upload required documents before their stated deadline The original application remains on time
Pay SEK 900 before the fee deadline The payment can be matched to the on-time application
Delete a choice before selection begins Allowed, usually until about three days before results, but the deleted choice is gone
Delete and re-add a choice at another rank The re-added choice becomes late and must still show Open for late application
Add a new programme after the deadline It is late and considered only if the university has places after selection
Change the order of existing on-time choices No direct reorder is available after the application deadline

The green rows preserve the original on-time application because they complete already scheduled obligations. The amber rows change the substance or timing of a choice and can therefore make it late or remove it. The red row reflects the most consequential distinction: deleting and re-adding is not equivalent to reordering. An applicant who attempts that workaround gives the re-added programme a new, late application position.

Returning applicants don’t have to rebuild their document file from zero, but they still need to check what each current programme asks for. The previous-applicant instructions say academic records remain in the admissions system. Add only new, missing, incomplete or currently relevant material.

If late documentation causes a choice to be deleted, uploading the missing record is only half the recovery. The reapplication procedure requires you to contact University Admissions after the result, name the application codes and state the new ranking. Your application date becomes the date both the request and evidence were received.

Who decides whether your Sweden application is competitive?

Completing UniversityAdmissions.se does not create a national GPA cut-off or guarantee admission. Once the portal records general and specific eligibility, each university ranks eligible applicants under its own selection method.

The official master’s selection page says prior credits, grades and requested documents can enter the rating. It also says University Admissions cannot explain one programme’s calculation. Open the university’s live requirement page before you rank it.

Official example Specific check What it means for your portal file
KTH MSc Computer Science 28.5 ECTS in named mathematics areas and 22.5 ECTS in named computing areas Your degree title alone cannot prove the required content
Uppsala MSc Information Systems 90 credits in information systems or a similar field and a programme summary sheet General documents do not replace the requested programme file
Lund international admission National portal for formal rules, programme contact for programme fit Send each question to the body that can decide it
Swedish higher-education system Specific requirements vary and there is no national Swedish degree GPA Do not invent one Sweden-wide Indian GPA conversion

The examples show why central eligibility cannot be reduced to an Indian percentage. KTH measures named mathematics and computing content, Uppsala combines a field-credit requirement with a separate form, and Lund divides national and programme questions between different sources. The same transcript can therefore be eligible for one programme and incomplete for another. Selection begins only after those programme-specific requirements have been satisfied.

KTH reported that its Computer Science master’s admitted 63 of 762 eligible applicants in 2026, an 8% rate for that programme and year. Eligibility put those 762 applicants into consideration, while programme selection determined the 63 offers. The figure does not describe KTH as a whole or another year.

What should you do when Sweden admission results arrive?

Open the Notification of Selection Results and act according to the exact status and admissions round. The official result guidance explains the printable portal PDF and each response rule. No paper copy is sent.

  • Admitted means you have been offered a place.
  • Deleted means the choice is no longer active. Read the reason shown beside it before deciding whether recovery is possible.
  • Reserve means you are on a waiting list.
  • Not processed commonly appears on a late application that has not been reached.
  • Conditionally admitted can reflect tuition liability or remaining evidence required by the university.
Situation Your next action
Admitted in the First round No reply inside UniversityAdmissions.se, but follow every university email and enrolment instruction
Admitted or reserve in the Second round Reply to the first notification by its deadline or lose the place
Eligibility decision appears wrong Appeal within three weeks after reading the result and explain the requested change
Selection result is lower than hoped Do not appeal selection because only eligibility decisions can be appealed

The result status controls both the available response and its deadline. You don’t need to reply in the portal for a First-round admission, but you do for a Second-round place or reserve position. An appeal addresses an eligibility decision, not disappointment with competitive selection. The notification PDF is therefore more than a record of success or failure: it identifies which procedural route remains open after the selection result.

After admission, the next tasks are tuition, Sweden scholarship conditions, the residence permit and a realistic Sweden student budget. Follow the admitting university’s payment and registration dates because they won’t all appear in the national portal.

Key takeaways

  • Finalise your genuine preference order by the application deadline. Re-added choices become late after that cut-off.
  • Record the application, fee, document and result dates as separate deadlines with different consequences.
  • Request Class XII records from the recognised board and degree records from the authorised university office.
  • Check every file locally before uploading because the portal will not reopen or delete a registered copy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply to Swedish universities without a consultant?

Yes. UniversityAdmissions.se supports direct applications, including account creation, programme selection, payment, document upload and results. If someone helps you, keep control of the login and review the submitted ranking and files yourself. You remain responsible for what reaches the admissions system and for following later university messages.

Does ranking a Swedish master’s programme lower reduce my eligibility?

No. Eligibility and merit rating follow the programme’s academic rules, not the height of the choice in your list. Ranking serves a different purpose. It records which acceptable place you prefer, so put your genuine first choice first instead of trying to predict which university is most likely to admit you.

Is a three-year Indian bachelor’s accepted in Sweden?

It can be, but “three-year” alone does not decide the outcome. For an Indian applicant, the central route depends on the exact award, especially whether the bachelor’s carries honours. The programme then checks its own subject, English and selection rules, so match the award name on your certificate before applying.

Can I upload documents after the Sweden application deadline?

Yes, when the published supporting-document deadline falls later. The application can remain on time while you complete the approved evidence during that interval. A file arriving after its own cut-off can make the choice late or incomplete, so use the document date for the current admissions round.

How do I accept a First-round Sweden admission offer?

Save the notification PDF, then make a separate checklist for any university confirmation, tuition payment, registration or enrolment action, and residence-permit timing. Those deadlines come from the admitting university, so the next action is outside the results table itself. Follow the university’s instructions in the order given.

Is the SEK 900 application fee charged per university?

No. The SEK 900 application fee is charged once for each semester in which you apply, regardless of the number of choices or admissions rounds used in that semester. University Admissions must receive it by the fee deadline. The administrative fee is non-refundable even if no programme offers you a place.
