What is the TUS Artificial Intelligence master's in Athlone?

TUS MSc Software Design with Artificial Intelligence is a one-year, 90-ECTS Level 9 degree for software graduates moving into machine learning. Non-EU tuition for 2026/27 is EUR 17,500, about INR 19.49 lakh. A twelve-month plan including Athlone living and current application and immigration charges is about INR 37.99 lakh.

Study begins with software foundations, advances through data and model development, and ends with a team project plus a dissertation or placement choice. September 2026 is closed. The next programme cycle still lacks three essentials: confirmation that this MSc returns, its tuition and its closing date.

How much does the TUS Artificial Intelligence master's cost?

The one-year planning total is EUR 34,122, about INR 37.99 lakh. It combines EUR 17,500 non-EU tuition, twelve months of TUS‘s Athlone living estimate and current application, visa and registration charges. Insurance, flights and refundable housing deposits remain outside the total.

The EUR 6,000 high-demand payment and immigration's EUR 6,000 tuition-payment condition sit inside tuition. They are cash-flow milestones, not extra costs. Converted at EUR 1 = INR 111.3475, the ECB reference rate on 26 August 2026. Payment-provider rates differ. Insurance, flights and refundable housing deposits are excluded.

TUS estimates average Athlone living costs at about EUR 1,351 a month. This produces EUR 16,212 across twelve months. Accommodation is estimated at EUR 556 to EUR 650 monthly, so an actual housing contract can move the family budget above or below the planning line.

TUS lists Artificial Intelligence as a high-demand programme. At least EUR 6,000 of invoiced tuition is due within three months of a conditional offer or the place can be lost. The applicant’s offer controls the exact dates, and a stale 2025 final-payment date on the general page mustn’t be reused.

A direct applicant pays EUR 50. TUS calls this non-refundable, while its FAQ also says the amount is deducted from the final fee. Ask for the treatment in writing. An approved TUS agent follows its own portal route and doesn’t charge this university processing fee.

Postgraduate scholarships can reach EUR 4,000 under the ordinary combined cap, but TUS Global assesses them competitively during admission. The table therefore uses full tuition. An award should reduce an already affordable plan rather than make an unaffordable payment schedule appear workable.

Irish immigration requires immediate access to at least EUR 10,000 for a course longer than eight months, in addition to tuition. This is evidence of funds and not an extra cost row. Casual employment can’t be used to satisfy the finance requirement.

The rupee values use the European Central Bank reference rate for 26 August 2026. They make the arithmetic repeatable but do not fix bank, Flywire or card rates. Recalculate INR on every payment date and allow for conversion charges.

Irish immigration states the funding rule directly

“You must show you have sufficient funds to support your stay in Ireland without recourse to public funds, or the reliance on casual employment.”Immigration Service Delivery, student finances

This isn’t a second charge in the cost table. It is the evidence-of-funds test behind the budget.

Can an Indian applicant meet the TUS Software Design with AI entry rules?

The published route requires a four-year honours degree in software design or equivalent with at least a 2.1 result or 60%. TUS‘s India table separately lists BTech and BE at 60% and BCA at 65% for IT, leaving three-year BCA equivalence unresolved.

IELTS Academic (India)6.5 overall with every band at least 6.0Submit an in-date accepted result
GRE or GMAT (India)No requirement publishedDo not treat a test as an entry substitute
Work experience (India)No minimum publishedUse the CV to evidence technical preparation

TUS publishes no subject-credit matrix for equivalence. A useful file therefore maps programming languages, object-oriented design, algorithms, databases, software projects and assessed machine-learning work to official module descriptions and marks.

The four-year wording makes an Indian BTech or BE the clearer published route. A three-year BCA meets a country-table percentage but still needs the programme team to accept it as equivalent to the required honours degree.

No professional experience, GRE, GMAT or programme-specific interview is published. These absences do not weaken the binding checks. Degree level, software content, grade and English remain the actual evidence.

Three checks that decide an Indian AI file

  1. A BCA percentage does not settle degree duration

The India table lists a three-year BCA at 65 percent for IT, while the programme asks for a four-year honours degree. TUS says international files are reviewed case by case. Obtain written confirmation before paying the direct-application charge.
  2. Software preparation matters more than an AI label

The course begins with object-oriented programming and applied scripting before advanced machine learning. A mathematics, electronics or business degree without assessed software development does not automatically become an equivalent qualification.
  3. The English overall score has component floors

The central 2026/27 table adds no IELTS band below 6.0. Its Duolingo, TOEFL and PTE alternatives also carry component conditions, so an overall-only score can still fail.

How should an Indian applicant plan the TUS Artificial Intelligence application?

September 2026 is closed and September 2027 programme availability is unpublished. The planner works backwards from 1 October 2026, when TUS says its next global application cycle opens. It prepares the technical, academic and English evidence but does not assume that this exact MSc will be listed.

One course is selected in the TUS international portal. A direct applicant uploads identity, academic, English, CV, statement and reference evidence and pays EUR 50. An approved TUS agent uses its own route. TUS publishes an indicative decision update of about two weeks.

The catalogue opening is not the course deadline. Confirm that Software Design with Artificial Intelligence returns for September 2027, then use the published closing date for application planning.

23 Sep 2026Prepare the application file7Assemble passport, award, transcripts, CV, references and statement.
30 Sep 2026Check the September 2027 catalogue1Confirm availability, fee, closing date and portal before submission.

The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by Technological University of the Shannon.

Start with the transcript map because the words software design or equivalent leave room for judgement. Show assessed programming, software architecture, systems and machine learning work with official module descriptions rather than relying on the degree title.

Only one course choice can remain active under the TUS portal profile. For this specialisation, use that choice only when the file proves software design plus machine-learning readiness; a later permitted change isn’t a reason to submit a speculative AI application.

TUS’s two-week update is a central service target, not an offer guarantee. Academic staff may need to assess equivalence. A conditional offer then passes the file into tuition payment and visa preparation, with the offer letter deciding the actual payment dates.

Do not reuse 1 June 2026 as the September 2027 deadline. It proves that the old visa-country cycle is over. The next course list and its closing date need fresh official confirmation after the global cycle opens.

September 2027 is not yet a confirmed programme intakeTUS has announced the global application opening date, not this programme’s availability, fee or closing date. Recheck the exact course before paying.

What jobs and work rights follow TUS Software Design with AI?

TUS offers an industry-focused team project and a dissertation or placement choice, but publishes no AI placement rate, employer list or graduate salary. Current national evidence shows demand for AI-related software skills alongside weaker entry-level advertising, so the degree cannot support a guaranteed-job claim.

Final routeDissertation or placementPlacement is a choice, not a guarantee
Programme employment rateNot publishedNo exact-cohort measure found
Graduate permission12 plus possible 12 monthsConditional Level 9 Stamp 1G route

National ICT evidence and one current-student account are context, not measured outcomes for this MSc.

The team project can produce evidence of model development, evaluation and communication around an authentic industry problem. The final placement option may add workplace experience, but TUS does not publish how places are allocated, how many students receive one or which employers participate.

SOLAS records 54,800 programmers and software developers in 2024 and identifies AI skills in employer shortages. The bulletin also says software-development adverts have declined and automation may reduce entry-level demand. That mixed national evidence is more useful than the course page’s expired 2025 projection.

CSO reports EUR 765 median weekly earnings for substantially employed 2022 ICT graduates in their first year after graduation. This spans institutions, levels and ICT subjects. It is not a TUS AI salary and should not be used to forecast an individual return.

An eligible Level 9 graduate can receive Stamp 1G for twelve months and may obtain another twelve months after showing appropriate job-search steps. A later Critical Skills permit depends on the job’s duties, classification, salary, employer and two-year offer.

TUS profiles one current international student on this exact MSc, who describes lecturer and career support. That is useful experience evidence but not proof of a placement, employment result or salary. No three-account independent pattern was found.

Who is TUS Software Design with AI for, and who should avoid it?

The strongest fit is a software graduate with credible programming and some data or machine-learning preparation who wants a one-year technical specialisation. The weakest fit is a non-coder seeking a broad AI conversion, or anyone whose budget assumes a guaranteed placement income.

VerdictYour backgroundWhy
Strong fitSoftware graduate with object-oriented programmingThe transcript aligns with the course's starting point.
Strong fitDeveloper seeking machine-learning depthThe sequence adds mining, visualisation and neural networks.
Needs evidenceThree-year BCA applicant at 65%The programme's four-year wording remains unresolved.
Do not shortlistNon-coder seeking an AI conversionThe one-year route assumes software preparation.
Do not shortlistApplicant depending on guaranteed placement incomeTUS publishes no placement guarantee or rate.

This MSc makes sense when the applicant wants to keep software development central while adding data-driven modelling. The taught route is not designed to spend a long opening phase building programming competence from the beginning.

A student who mainly wants business applications of AI should compare TUS’s separate Artificial Intelligence for Business programme. Similar career labels do not erase the difference between software design, model development and business-facing analytics.

The one-year workload and final research or placement choice reward independent learning. Applicants who need extensive classroom contact, a guaranteed employer handover or a confirmed 2027 start should keep the course on a watchlist rather than commit funds.

What does the TUS Software Design with AI curriculum contain?

The 90-ECTS course publishes eight taught modules worth 60 ECTS, then a dissertation or industry-placement choice without a displayed credit value. Eight taught modules cover software foundations, data work, machine learning and a team build before the final pathway. The final pathway is available only where TUS can provide it.

Total90
  • The eight taught modules carry 60 ECTS collectively
  • The final route is a dissertation or industry-based placement
  • TUS confirms a 90-ECTS full-time award

The first stage reinforces programming and research practice before the course commits to data mining and machine learning. Data visualisation then supports the communication of model output, while the advanced module moves into neural networks.

The Engineering Team Project is an applied collaborative component. It does not establish a named company placement. The separate final choice determines whether the student finishes with independent research or workplace practice.

Ninety minus sixty gives a 30-credit remainder, but the live course page does not print 30 beside the dissertation or placement. The table therefore leaves that credit unitemised instead of presenting derived arithmetic as a directly published module value.

Should an Indian applicant shortlist TUS Software Design with AI?

Shortlist it if a software-heavy degree already proves object-oriented programming and you want a compact move into machine learning. The course is not a general AI conversion for graduates without software preparation, despite the breadth suggested by the Artificial Intelligence title.

The strongest academic mechanism is the move from software foundations to advanced modelling, supported by an engineering team project. The Engineering Team Project adds applied work, while the final choice between dissertation and placement changes how the last stage can support a portfolio.

Admission, workload and outcome evidence each narrow the fit. The published four-year software-degree condition can exclude a BCA applicant even though the India table lists BCA at 65% for IT. Ninety ECTS in one year creates a high independent-study load. The placement option is not guaranteed, and TUS publishes no AI-specific employment rate, employer list or salary.

Frequently asked questions

How much is TUS Software Design with AI for Indian students?

The 2026/27 non-EU tuition is EUR 17,500, about INR 19.49 lakh at the 26 August 2026 ECB rate. Adding twelve months of TUS's Athlone living estimate, direct application, single-entry visa and registration gives EUR 34,122, about INR 37.99 lakh. Insurance, flights and refundable housing deposits are excluded.

What marks does an Indian applicant need for the TUS AI MSc?

The programme asks for a four-year honours degree in software design or equivalent at 2.1 or 60%. TUS's India table lists 60% for a four-year BTech or BE in IT and 65% for a three-year BCA. A BCA still needs written confirmation against the programme's four-year wording.

Is the TUS AI master's a conversion course?

Not in the broad sense. The published entry rule expects a software-design degree or equivalent, and the modules begin with object-oriented programming and applied scripting before advanced machine learning. A non-coder or applicant with only business exposure to AI should not assume that the title creates a beginner route.

Does TUS require IELTS, GRE or work experience for this MSc?

The master's English table requires IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent with component floors. The programme publishes no GRE, GMAT or work-experience minimum. These absences do not replace the four-year degree, software-content, 2.1 or 60% and NFQ-equivalence checks.

When will TUS Software Design with AI open for September 2027?

TUS says its next global application cycle opens on 1 October 2026, but it has not confirmed that this exact programme will be offered in September 2027. The 2027 fee and closing date are also unpublished. Recheck the course list and portal after opening before paying or submitting documents.

Does the TUS AI MSc include a work placement?

The course publishes a choice between a research dissertation and an industry-based work placement after an Engineering Team Project. TUS does not publish a guaranteed placement, allocation process, employer list or placement rate. Budget without placement income and ask how the final route is assigned before accepting an offer.

Can a TUS AI graduate stay and work in Ireland?

An eligible NFQ Level 9 graduate can receive Stamp 1G for 12 months and may receive a second 12 months after showing appropriate graduate job-search steps. A Critical Skills permit later depends on the actual job, duties, salary, employer and two-year offer. The degree alone creates no permit guarantee.
