The Charpak Scholarship can fund an Indian student’s Master’s degree, study exchange or short research stay in France, but each activity uses a different scheme and evidence file. For 2027 entry, the first decision is not how to improve your marks. It is whether you need Master, Exchange or Summer Training, and whether that exact call is open. A strong application under the wrong scheme is still ineligible, and a missing route-specific document can stop the file.

No 2027 Charpak call or deadline was published when checked on 10 August 2026. The 2026 Master result was finalised, the spring Exchange and Summer Training calls closed, and autumn Exchange and Bachelor did not open. Unless another date is stated, the eligibility, document and benefit references below come from official scheme pages checked on 10 August 2026. They support preparation, not a 2027 application. Euro figures convert using EUR 1 = INR 110.12, rounded from the European Central Bank rate of INR 110.1228 on 10 August 2026.

Is the Charpak Scholarship open for 2027?

No 2027 scheme was open on the check date. That doesn’t mean every scheme is cancelled. It means a student can prepare from the 2026 evidence, but can’t reuse a closed form or infer a deadline. The Campus France India Charpak overview describes four subprogrammes, while the individual scheme page controls whether a specific call exists.

Which status can a 2027 applicant rely on?Green means the route completed in 2026. Amber means closed or not opened. Every route still needs a published 2027 call.
Scheme Status on 10 August 2026 What the student can do now
Master The 2026 result was finalised and selected candidates were told by email Apply to the French degree and prepare the 2026 evidence file
Spring Exchange The 2026 call closed and 10 selected students appeared in the official result Confirm the partnership and nomination route with the Indian institution
Summer Training The 2026 call closed, while the newest result document displayed was for 2025 Find a French host and prepare an invitation and no objection certificate (NOC)
Autumn Exchange The 2026 call did not open Do not assume this route will run in 2027
Bachelor Applications were not accepted for 2026 Wait for a new call before relying on the older rules

Official Charpak status checked on 10 August 2026

The spring Exchange result was dated 14 November 2025 for departures beginning in January 2026. It shows that selection for a spring departure can happen in the preceding calendar year, but it does not establish a 2027 deadline. Admission, visa and housing work in the wider study in France sequence continues while the call is pending. The programme intake calendar and scholarship calendar remain separate.

Which Charpak Scholarship scheme fits your plan?

Start with the activity that will happen in France. Charpak Master supports a full time M1, the first year of a two year Master’s, or M2, the second year. Charpak Exchange supports study within an institutional partnership. Summer Training supports a short internship or research project. The old Bachelor route supported a full time undergraduate degree, but it did not accept 2026 applications.

Scheme Activity in France Evidence required for the route Mismatch that stops it
Master Full time M1 or M2 degree for one or two years French admission letter or accepted evidence that the application is in progress PhD, thesis, internship, training, research project or semester exchange
Spring Exchange Study exchange lasting four to six months from January to June Institutional partnership, home nomination, NOC and host acceptance evidence Thesis, research project or internship instead of taught exchange study
Autumn Exchange Study exchange lasting one to six months from September to December under the inactive page Institutional partnership, NOC and host acceptance evidence Research or thesis activity, or relying on a route that has no live call
Summer Training Internship or research project lasting one to two months, preferably from May to August French host invitation with exact dates and an Indian university NOC No host, no NOC, no current Indian enrolment or a stay shorter than one month
Bachelor Full time Bachelor’s degree in France under the inactive page French admission letter or accepted application correspondence No live call, or a programme that does not take place in France

The research distinction is easy to miss. A thesis or research project does not fit Master or Exchange, even when it carries academic credit. A short project in a French laboratory belongs under Summer Training when that scheme accepts the applicant. The official Exchange page states this limit directly.

Students who are undertaking a thesis, research project, or internship as part of their exchange are NOT eligible to apply.Campus France India, spring Exchange

These routes also differ in who can make the necessary evidence happen. A Master applicant controls the programme application, though the French institution controls admission. An Exchange applicant cannot replace the home institution’s nomination with a personal request. A Summer Training applicant must approach laboratories and agree a real project before the scholarship file becomes usable. This dependency should decide the preparation order.

M1 and M2 sit within the Master’s degree structure in France, while the exact award still needs programme recognition. The France scholarship route comparison separates Charpak’s direct student submission from Eiffel’s French institution nomination.

Who is eligible for the Charpak Scholarship?

There is no single Charpak eligibility test. Citizenship, residence, age and present study status change by scheme. The Master scheme page accepts an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India holder aged 30 or under. The Exchange scheme accepts an Indian national residing in India or an OCI holder aged 30 or under.

Summer Training is narrower. Its scheme page says Indian national residing in India, age 30 or under, and enrolled at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in an Indian higher education institution. It does not mention OCI. The inactive Bachelor page accepts an Indian citizen or OCI holder aged 23 or under.

Test Master Exchange Summer Training Bachelor
Citizen or OCI wording Indian citizen or OCI Indian national residing in India or OCI Indian national residing in India Indian citizen or OCI
Age ceiling 30 or under 30 or under 30 or under 23 or under
Study position Applied for M1 or M2, including an M1 student in France seeking M2 funding Enrolled at an Indian institution with the required French tie up Enrolled at an Indian institution at Bachelor’s or Master’s level Applied for a French Bachelor’s, including some continuing students in France
French language Asset, not mandatory Asset, not mandatory Asset, not mandatory Asset, not mandatory

The age test applies at the time of application in the 2026 scheme pages. Preference wording is not a prohibition. The Master page prefers present or former students of Indian higher education, while saying a foreign degree doesn’t automatically exclude an applicant.

Which documents does a Charpak application need?

The common file begins with a formal photograph, passport identity pages, a CV of no more than two pages and academic records. If the passport will arrive after the scholarship deadline, the 2026 pages allow official proof that the passport application was submitted. They also require PDF or JPEG files and reject common editable documents, compressed folders and social media screenshots.

The decisive document changes with the route. Master needs French degree evidence. Exchange needs proof of the institutional relationship and nomination. Summer Training needs a host invitation stating the exact project dates and an NOC from the Indian university. The host search belongs to the applicant.

Candidates must approach the laboratory or institution on their own, as per their research interests before applying for the scholarship.Campus France India, Summer Training

Evidence Master Exchange Summer Training
France side proof Admission or accepted application email Acceptance or accepted application email Host invitation with exact duration, or accepted email where the scheme page permits it
India side proof Academic record and signed recommendations Partnership, nomination and NOC Current enrolment and NOC approving the project
Academic record Class XII and relevant degree records Class XII, current degree and completed prior degree records Class XII and relevant higher education records
Optional support French certificate and relevant work evidence French certificate, work evidence and recommendation French certificate, work evidence and recommendation

Final admission was not always mandatory under the 2026 rules. The Master, Exchange and Bachelor pages allowed official email correspondence showing that the French application or acceptance was in progress. The Campus France India admission process and scholarship portal remain separate systems.

For Master and Bachelor, one scholarship form can name the applicant’s top choice when several French institutions are involved. Sending several scholarship applications can lead to disqualification.

There should only be one online application per applicant. The submission of multiple online applications will result in disqualification.Campus France India, Charpak Master

How does Charpak selection work without a CGPA cutoff?

The Master selection rules and the Exchange, Summer Training and Bachelor scheme pages publish no minimum CGPA or percentage. That removes a stated academic cutoff, not competition. Complete files are compared using academic excellence, consistency, statement quality and, where listed, the applicant’s overall profile.

Administrative review comes before academic comparison. Under the Master page, shortlisted 2026 candidates were interviewed online from 13 to 30 April and interviews were not rescheduled. Those are past 2026 dates.

The statement of purpose, called an SOP, must be personal and consistent with the CV, records and study plan. The Master, Exchange and Bachelor pages say the SOP receives a plagiarism check and that significant AI generated content can cause disqualification. A useful draft explains why this exact French programme or project follows from the applicant’s prior work, rather than repeating the scholarship description.

The spring 2026 Exchange result lists 10 students but does not publish how many people applied. Ten selections cannot be turned into an acceptance rate. A student should therefore improve the controllable evidence instead of planning around an invented winning score.

Consistency means the documents tell one credible story. The intended field in the SOP should match the programme, prior study and evidence in the CV. The French application email should name the same programme shown in the scholarship form. For Exchange, the acceptance, partnership and NOC should describe study rather than an internship. These checks do not guarantee selection, but they prevent avoidable contradictions.

How much does the Charpak Scholarship pay?

The official Master amount for 2026 is EUR 860 a month, and spring Exchange displays the same amount, about INR 94,710 at the dated ECB rate. The inactive autumn Exchange and Bachelor pages display EUR 860 too, but neither had a 2026 application route. Summer Training displays EUR 700 a month, about INR 77,090, for no more than two funded months.

Scheme Cash benefit Non cash support Explicit limit
Master EUR 860 monthly Visa and Campus France procedure fee exemption, student social security, additional health insurance and housing search help Travel from India and within France, plus other stay costs, are not covered
Spring Exchange EUR 860 monthly Social security, student visa and Campus France fee waiver, and housing help subject to availability Tuition, travel and complete living costs are not promised by the page
Autumn Exchange EUR 860 monthly on the inactive page Social security, fee support and housing assistance The 2026 call did not open
Summer Training EUR 700 monthly for at most two months Visa fee waiver from India and Campus France procedure fee waiver where applicable Medical costs, travel, travel insurance and accommodation help are not covered
Bachelor EUR 860 monthly on the inactive page Administrative, insurance, meal and housing search support The 2026 route did not accept applications

Charpak benefits displayed on official pages checked on 10 August 2026

Housing assistance and priority access to a CROUS residence are subject to availability. They aren’t a confirmed room. The award letter controls the benefit period and conditions, while deposits, guarantees and arrival cash belong in the France accommodation budget.

The monthly amount also cannot be read as the total award without the funded dates. Master may cover one or two academic years under the programme description, while Exchange lasts the eligible semester and Summer Training funds no more than two months. Renewal, interruption and payment timing belong to the written decision. A safe budget records only the months named in that decision.

What does the Charpak Scholarship not cover?

Charpak is not a universal promise of full tuition, travel and all living costs. The Master and Bachelor pages say a French government scholarship holder in a public national diploma may be exempt from differentiated registration fees, subject to the institution’s policy. The 2026/27 public Master fee is EUR 255, while the differentiated fee that can apply is EUR 3,950. The French higher education ministry fee notice does not establish 2027/28 fees.

A private institution can set a different tuition invoice, and Charpak does not promise to pay every private charge. Travel, VFS Global visa application centre service charges, housing deposits and expenses before the first allowance remain separate. The complete France study budget should use the written award rather than an advertised monthly figure multiplied by an assumed duration.

Cost Why it stays separate Evidence that settles it
Tuition Public differentiated fee relief is conditional and private fees vary Institution invoice and written exemption
Travel Master, Bachelor and Summer pages do not cover the stated travel costs Booked itinerary and award letter
Visa service charges A visa fee exemption does not state that every service charge disappears Live personal checklist and appointment invoice
Housing and arrival cash Housing help does not guarantee a room or pay every deposit Lease, guarantee decision and payment schedule
Extra Summer Training time The 2026 rule funds no more than two months Invitation dates and personal budget

CVEC is the student and campus life contribution collected before administrative registration. French government scholarship holders are exempt under the official 2026/27 rule, but an exempt student must still obtain an attestation. The 2026/27 CVEC amount is EUR 105, while the CVEC attestation process applies to both payment and exemption.

CAF is the French family benefits agency that administers housing aid. Charpak doesn’t automatically create eligibility. From 1 July 2026, a typical new non EU student needs the defined French social criteria scholarship, meaning French means-tested national higher education aid, or another listed exception. The CAF notice and implementing decree mean a new Indian Charpak holder should normally use EUR 0 from CAF unless a separate exception applies.

Stacking also needs written approval. The Master and Bachelor pages allow the Embassy to stop Charpak when the holder receives another French government scholarship, an Erasmus scholarship or funding from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). Apprenticeship, a professional training contract, some internships, a gap year or a period abroad can also affect the award. Do not add two awards until both schemes permit the combination.

How should you prepare a Charpak application for 2027?

Ready to submit = live route x eligibility fit x route evidence ready x complete file ready

This is an Nbyula planning check, not an official selection score. Give each factor 1 only when the live call and your evidence prove it. Any zero means the file is not ready. The result does not predict selection because the committee still compares academic strength, consistency, SOP quality and the full profile.

A 25 year old Indian citizen has applied for an M1 in France. The final admission letter is pending, but an official university email shows that the application is active. The student has a passport, two page CV, academic records and signed recommendations. The status table gives the route factor a zero.

Worked readiness = 0 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 0

The university email may satisfy the admission evidence rule, but it cannot change the route factor. The useful next action is to keep the evidence complete until the official Master page changes status. Sending material through an old portal would not improve readiness.

Preparation can begin several months before a possible departure because admission, nomination and host outreach have their own response times. No one official lead time applies across institutions, so the student should work backwards from the programme or exchange start and protect enough time for unanswered emails, revised documents and the visa stage. This is planning around dependencies, not forecasting the scholarship calendar.

Stage Action Decision evidence
Choose the route Match degree, study exchange or short research activity The activity fits one live scheme
Secure the dependency Apply to the degree, obtain nomination or find the French host Admission evidence, nomination or invitation exists
Confirm the call Open the exact 2027 scheme page Status, eligibility, benefit and dates name 2027
Complete the file Use the published format, length and signature rules Every required file opens and matches the form
Submit once Use the portal linked from the live official page One complete submission and receipt exist
Plan after selection Use the award letter for fees, visa, housing and cash timing Written amounts and conditions replace provisional estimates

The student’s live France Visas checklist controls the France student visa process, not a scholarship summary. The award letter, uncovered travel and housing cash, and any additional financial evidence belong together before the appointment.

Key takeaways

  • No 2027 Charpak call or deadline was published when checked on 10 August 2026.
  • Master needs French degree evidence, Exchange needs a partnership and nomination, and Summer Training needs a host invitation plus NOC.
  • The 2026 pages publish no minimum CGPA, but complete files still compete on academic strength, consistency and SOP quality.
  • The 2026 monthly amount is EUR 860 for Master and spring Exchange, while Summer Training lists EUR 700 for at most two months.
  • Travel, private tuition, VFS Global service charges, housing cash and costs before payment can remain with the student.

Frequently asked questions about the Charpak Scholarship

Who can apply for the Charpak Master’s Scholarship?

Under the rules checked on 10 August 2026, an applicant must be an Indian citizen or OCI holder, age 30 or under, and must have applied for a full time first or second year Master’s in France. An M1 student in France can seek M2 funding. PhD, exchange, internship, thesis and research applicants do not fit.

Can I apply for Charpak Master before final admission?

Yes, under the current rules, official email correspondence can show that a French admission application is in progress when the final letter is pending. You must still apply to the French institution first and follow the published scheme checklist. The email proves admission progress but does not replace any other required document.

Does the Charpak Scholarship cover full tuition and travel?

No universal full tuition or travel promise appears. The Master and Bachelor pages exclude the stated travel and allow conditional differentiated fee relief for some public national diplomas. Private tuition, VFS Global visa application centre charges, housing deposits and other stay costs can remain. The institution invoice and award letter control the real benefit.

Is there a minimum CGPA for the Charpak Scholarship?

The Master, Exchange, Summer Training and Bachelor pages checked on 10 August 2026 publish no minimum CGPA or percentage. Selection still considers academic excellence, consistency, SOP quality and the overall profile where listed. No published cutoff therefore does not make eligibility or selection automatic.

Who can get the Charpak Exchange Scholarship?

The 2026 route requires an Indian national residing in India or an OCI holder, age 30 or under, enrolled at an Indian institution with the required French partnership. The home institution must nominate the student. A thesis, research project or internship does not count as the required study exchange.

Can an OCI holder apply for Charpak Summer Training?

Do not assume so. The Summer Training page checked on 10 August 2026 says Indian national residing in India and does not list OCI, unlike the Master, Exchange and inactive Bachelor pages. An OCI holder needs written guidance from the official scholarship contact before treating this route as eligible.

Is the Charpak Bachelor Scholarship open for 2027?

No 2027 call was live when checked on 10 August 2026. The official page also says applications were not accepted for 2026, although older results remain visible. A student should not assume that Bachelor runs annually. Wait for a new Campus France India call before applying.

Can Charpak be combined with another scholarship or CAF?

The Master and Bachelor rules can stop Charpak for another French government, Erasmus or Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie scholarship. Any combination needs written permission under both schemes. Charpak does not meet the post July 2026 CAF test for French means-tested national higher education aid, so a typical new Indian student should budget EUR 0.
