What is the WGTN Master of Building Science?

The Master of Building Science is a 180-point, NZQCF Level 9 programme completed over three trimesters. A lower planning amount of INR 57.10 lakh covers the selected tuition basis, compulsory charges, living and the visa fee. For the Master of Building Science, the published route determines the fee basis and application plan.

Students finish through a 60-point practicum or an industry project after completing the building-science requirements. The University’s official Master of Building Science page provides the structure and dates used here. NZQA classifies master’s degrees at Level 9.

How much does the WGTN Master of Building Science cost?

The full-programme plan is NZD 101,933.80, or about INR 57.10 lakh, using 2026 tuition calculated at NZD 403.26 per architecture postgraduate point, current compulsory levies, one preferred annual insurance premium, the University's lower Wellington estimate scaled to three trimesters, and the current student visa charge.

The total uses the University's lower NZD 26,000 estimate from its NZD 26,000 to NZD 42,900 range for each 52 weeks. Immigration New Zealand's separate maintenance evidence floor is NZD 20,000 yearly. Converted at NZD 1 = INR 56.0236 using New Zealand Inland Revenue's 15 July 2026 mid-month rate. The tuition basis preserves its source status. Where the exact international programme fee is missing, the calculation uses the current 2026 subject rate and is not presented as a University-issued whole-programme quote. The 2027 invoice remains unavailable until the University issues it.

The headline total uses the University’s lower Wellington estimate. A family should also test affordability at NZD 42,900 per 52 weeks. The separate NZD 20,000 immigration figure is only the annual visa evidence floor.

The VUW Postgraduate International Scholarship may contribute NZD 10,000 for an eligible new 180-point international entrant. It is not deducted because an award is not guaranteed. Flights, deposits, outward travel and course or project expenses remain extra.

The INR conversion follows Inland Revenue’s published overseas currency rate. It isn’t a 2027 University invoice.

Can an Indian applicant enter the WGTN Master of Building Science?

An Indian applicant needs a Building Science, Construction, Architectural Studies or equivalent bachelor's degree with at least a B average. Victoria University of Wellington does not publish one universal Indian percentage or CGPA conversion, so it assesses the recognised institution, completed qualification, grading scale and programme-specific preparation individually.

Standard postgraduate English is IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0.

The programme rule controls over the general postgraduate baseline. Where official pages conflict or omit a grade, the applicable threshold remains unresolved until the programme issues a written decision.

Indian English-medium study is not a general automatic waiver. The current central page lists TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, Cambridge and the limited prior-study routes.

How and when should an Indian student apply for the WGTN Master of Building Science?

The programme application page does not publish an exact international close. This page uses 1 September 2026 only as a non-official planning date. The actual date remains unpublished. The timetable below leaves room for document checks, an academic decision and the visa.

The controlling date and programme route govern a Puaha submission with certified academic, identity and English evidence. Visa eligibility follows only after every Offer of Place condition is satisfied.

What jobs and work rights can follow the WGTN Master of Building Science?

The curriculum can support building performance, sustainable systems, energy, compliance, risk, quantity surveying and project management work. Sustainability specialist pay is NZD 79,000 to 97,000. This is government occupation context across experience levels, not graduate starting pay. The University publishes no programme placement rate, cohort salary or guaranteed employer pathway.

Who is the WGTN Master of Building Science for?

It is a poor fit for someone relying on guaranteed placement, a published salary outcome, or a route contradicted by the current Calendar or programme page. The final choice still depends on route fit, cost and the stated uncertainties. Written confirmation matters wherever the checked sources leave a route or threshold unresolved.

The strongest fit comes from matching prior preparation, pathway and intended project. Resolve any route, attendance, progression or professional-status ambiguity in writing rather than relying on a scholarship, paid placement or immediate job.

What does the WGTN Master of Building Science curriculum contain?

The current regulations publish 120 points of building-science study followed by either a 60-point practicum or industry project. The table includes every named module or formal range in the dossier, together with the project and progression rules that determine completion.

The course list preserves formal codes and range requirements rather than replacing them with invented topic buckets. A valid Calendar option may not run in the intended year.

The award was called Master of Architectural Science before 2026, and the Calendar maps former holders to the renamed Master of Building Science.

Teaching uses in-person three-day blocks roughly every four weeks, which is flexible but not an online route and still carries a 40 to 45 hour full-time weekly workload.

Should an Indian student shortlist the WGTN Master of Building Science?

The decision still depends on entry fit, route certainty, total cost and outcome evidence. Admission itself guarantees no scholarship, placement, salary, professional recognition, work visa or residence outcome. A strong application does not remove those programme-specific limits or the need for a realistic budget.
