What is the WGTN Master of Global Business?

The WGTN Master of Global Business is a 180-point, NZQCF Level 9 conversion programme completed in three trimesters at Pipitea. A lower planning amount of INR 49.05 lakh covers the selected tuition basis, compulsory charges, living and the visa fee.

The University shows a 2026 full-programme fee of NZD 58,200. For the Master of Global Business, the published route determines the fee basis and application plan. The degree moves from a four-course global business core to 60 points of approved specialisation study, then global strategy, cross-cultural management and a consultancy or research project. This page plans for February 2027, but the University had not published that MGBus intake or its deadline when checked. The 7 December date here is a cautious planning cut-off only. The University’s official Master of Global Business page provides the structure and dates used here. NZQA classifies master’s degrees at Level 9.

How much does the WGTN Master of Global Business cost?

Plan NZD 87,547, or about INR 49.05 lakh, using the published 2026 full-programme fee, capped 2026 Student Services Fee, Hardship Fee, one annual insurance premium, the University’s lower 52-week Wellington living estimate and the current student visa charge. Flights, deposits and course extras remain outside the total.

The headline uses the University's lower NZD 26,000 estimate. Its 52-week range reaches NZD 42,900, while Immigration New Zealand's NZD 20,000 figure is only the visa evidence floor. Converted at NZD 1 = INR 56.0236 using New Zealand Inland Revenue's 15 July 2026 mid-month rate. Bank spreads and transfer charges are excluded.

The NZD 58,200 figure is the University’s 2026 estimate for the complete 180-point programme, not an annual fee. It must retain that year label because fees are reviewed annually and no 2027 MGBus amount was published when checked.

The Student Services Fee is NZD 10.44 per point in Wellington and is capped at 150 points in one academic year. The 180-point intensive programme therefore uses NZD 1,566 in this plan rather than multiplying all 180 points. The separate Student Hardship Fee is NZD 32 for 2026.

The VUW Postgraduate International Scholarship can contribute NZD 10,000 towards tuition for an eligible new full-fee international student entering a 180-point Master’s. It is assessed with the programme application and is not deducted here because an offer of admission does not guarantee the award.

The University estimates NZD 26,000 to NZD 42,900 for a single student’s 52-week Wellington living costs, and the headline uses the lower end. Price a room, bond, utilities, food, local travel, arrival purchases and outward travel before accepting an offer. The NZD 20,000 immigration figure is only a visa evidence floor.

The INR conversion follows Inland Revenue’s published overseas currency rate. It isn’t a 2027 University invoice.

Can an Indian applicant enter the WGTN Master of Global Business?

The normal route needs a recognised bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least a B average, plus programme director approval. Victoria University of Wellington publishes no universal conversion from Indian percentage or CGPA to B. Applicants also submit a 500-word statement of purpose and standard postgraduate English evidence.

The open-discipline entry makes this a genuine conversion route. A science, engineering, humanities or commerce graduate can apply, but the B average and director decision still test academic readiness for a compressed Master’s.

India-specific assessment is document-led. Upload the degree certificate, every transcript page and the institution’s grading scale. A three-year Indian bachelor’s is not publicly rejected by a universal rule, but recognition and New Zealand equivalence remain case-specific decisions.

An English-medium degree from India is not a general exemption. The University publishes a limited IIT route with recency and documentary conditions. Applicants outside that exact route should plan for IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, Cambridge or another accepted pathway.

No work experience, GMAT or GRE minimum is published. That makes the statement and academic record more important, not less. Experienced applicants seeking the waiver should use the CV and statement to demonstrate scope, decisions, progression and learning rather than job titles alone.

The programme requirements and standard postgraduate English rules control the academic and language assessment. There’s no published universal Indian marks conversion.

Three rules that decide an Indian file

1. Do not invent an Indian marks conversion

   The University publishes the B requirement but no single Indian percentage or CGPA equivalent. Submit the complete grading context and let International Admissions assess equivalence.

2. The waiver is discretionary, not a fresh-graduate shortcut

   Extensive practical, professional or scholarly experience can support a waiver. The programme director still decides whether that preparation replaces the normal academic route.

3. The statement must do admission work

   The 500-word statement is programme-specific evidence. It should name realistic five to ten-year ambitions and explain why this curriculum, not a generic business master’s, supports them.

How and when should an Indian student apply for the WGTN Master of Global Business?

The exact MGBus pages had not published a February 2027 start or programme deadline when checked. The 7 December 2026 date is only a non-official planning cut-off derived from common Trimester 1 timing, not a date applicants can treat as binding for MGBus payment, travel or visa decisions.

The route runs through Puaha using a personal email, with certified academic and identity records, English evidence and the 500-word statement, followed by the Offer of Place conditions and student visa application. The exact MGBus intake date remains unpublished.

This intake now needs an individual readiness check. Applicants with English results and certified documents ready may still have time. Others should consider the next intake rather than rush an incomplete file.

The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by Victoria University of Wellington.

The application has two owners. Victoria University of Wellington assesses admission through Puaha, while Immigration New Zealand separately decides the Fee Paying Student Visa after an acceptable Offer of Place and payment evidence.

The file starts with the certified passport identity page, academic transcripts and completion certificates, followed by accepted English evidence where required and the MGBus statement. A personal email receives requests for clarification and the offer.

The University says taught postgraduate decisions usually take three to four weeks, although interviews or additional checks can take longer. A planning timeline should also allow time to meet offer conditions, arrange tuition, secure insurance and assemble living and outward-travel funds.

A late-application case-by-case statement is not a deadline extension. An offshore applicant still needs enough time for the visa after the academic decision, while the exact February 2027 MGBus deadline remains unpublished.

The programme application page controls the intake date, while Immigration New Zealand makes the student visa decision.

What jobs and work rights can follow the WGTN Master of Global Business?

The University links the degree to logistics, international business development, import and export management, brand management, analysis and consulting. It publishes no MGBus placement percentage or salary distribution. Tahatū pay for cargo and freight agents is useful role context only, not a graduate salary or return promise.

The employer names on the International Business careers page cover the subject broadly, not a measured MGBus cohort. The consultancy project, named graduate roles and occupation pay do not establish placement probability.

The realistic first step is often analyst, adviser, administrator or project coordinator work. Business development, international marketing, logistics, procurement and management consulting can follow, but several of those titles usually need prior experience beyond one Master’s.

The University lists ANZ, BNZ, EY Consulting, MBIE and WSP New Zealand among organisations employing recent International Business graduates. This is not a MGBus employer table, and it gives no count, graduation year, selection method or evidence of recurring recruitment.

A named graduate, Mandy, moved into a policy adviser role at MBIE after attending a University careers session and applying for work. That is a useful individual example of active career participation. It is not evidence that the programme placed her or that ministries recruit every cohort.

Current immigration rules can support a Post Study Work Visa of up to three years after a Level 9 Master’s studied full-time in New Zealand for at least 30 weeks. Approval, employment and residence remain separate decisions under the rules in force when the graduate applies.

This is conditional permission, not an earnings plan. That doesn’t turn work rights or the post-study visa into a job guarantee.

Who is the WGTN Master of Global Business for?

The best fit is a graduate from any discipline who wants international business breadth, can handle a compressed year and has a specific use for the specialisation and final project. It is a poor fit for someone needing a guaranteed internship, a published placement rate or a fixed February 2027 deadline today.

This is strongest as a conversion degree when the applicant can name the gap being filled. A technical graduate might want commercial decision skills, while a commerce graduate might use the specialisation to deepen international business, marketing, public policy or another approved field.

The consultancy and research routes serve different goals. The consultancy can produce evidence of solving an organisation’s problem, but host matching and payment are not promised. The research option is academically useful, yet a 30-point project is not automatically the same preparation as a thesis-led Master’s.

Specialisation is not a free label. It requires at least 45 approved points in Part 2, and course availability can change. Obtain a written study plan if the specialisation is central to the application, especially where courses come from another school or use intensive delivery.

What does the WGTN Master of Global Business curriculum contain?

The 2026 Calendar divides the programme into three 60-point parts. Four fixed foundation courses fill Part 1, approved advanced study fills Part 2, and Part 3 combines global strategy, cross-cultural management and either a 30-point consultancy or research project.

Published 2026 courses and route choices

• Complete 60 fixed points in Part 1
• Complete 60 approved points in Part 2 from the schedule or an approved coherent 400 or 500-level programme
• Complete GBUS 541, GBUS 542 and either GBUS 580 or GBUS 581 in Part 3
• Use at least 45 approved Part 2 points in one field to earn a named specialisation
• Normally finish Parts 1 and 2 before Part 3

Part 1 and Part 2 normally precede Part 3.

Part 1 is a conversion core rather than assumed prior business study. It covers the global environment, management, marketing and accounting before students enter advanced approved subjects.

The hidden flexibility sits in Part 2. The Calendar allows a coherent approved 60-point programme at 400 or 500 level, and named specialisations extend beyond the eight schedule courses. Availability and approval still control the actual combination.

The second hidden choice is the final project. The public marketing emphasises the consultancy, but the Calendar permits GBUS 581 Research Project. The available project for a chosen cycle is not published, and neither organisation matching nor a particular research topic is automatic.

Should an Indian student shortlist the WGTN Master of Global Business?

Shortlist it if you want a one-year business conversion degree with real elective breadth and can use either a consultancy or research project. Admission turns on a bachelor’s degree with a B average, director approval and a focused 500-word statement.

The strongest reason to consider it is choice inside a compact 180-point structure. After the common business core, students can assemble an approved Part 2 or earn a named specialisation with 45 relevant points. A less obvious advantage is that the binding Calendar allows a research project instead of the marketed consultancy route, which matters if later research study is the goal.

Two things are genuinely hard here. The full-time route compresses eleven courses into three trimesters, so it leaves little room for weak academic foundations or a heavy job. The University has not published the exact February 2027 MGBus intake or deadline, while a consultancy host, payment and job conversion are never guaranteed. Applicants needing certainty on either point are a poor fit.
