What is the FSU MS Business Analytics, and what does it cost?
FSU’s Master of Science in Business Analytics is a one-year, 33-credit STEM degree from the Herbert Wertheim College of Business, meant for graduates whose transcripts already show calculus, statistics and programming. The college lists USD 1,278.04 per credit hour for out-of-state students in 2026-27. With living, insurance and visa fees, plan for about INR 75.67 lakh in total.
You study in three fixed blocks, Summer, Fall and Spring, covering Python programming, optimisation, machine learning, data management, forecasting and a capstone on real data. There’s no Fall entry. This page is written for the Summer 2027 cohort, which starts in late June 2027. FSU hasn’t yet published a 2027-28 health insurance premium or an I-20 funds figure for this programme, so the page works from the 2026-27 numbers.
How much does the FSU MS Business Analytics cost in rupees?
Plan for USD 79,042, about INR 75.67 lakh, for the full programme. FSU’s own USD 42,175 estimate covers only tuition and per-credit fees at the 2026-27 rate. Living for 12 months, books, two insurance premiums, the flat term fees and the visa fees take the real figure close to double that.
| Item | INR | Local currency | When it is due |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition and fees, Summer 2027 (7 credits) | INR 8.58 lakh | USD 8,966.28 | Before classes start in June 2027 |
| Tuition and fees, Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 (26 credits) | INR 31.95 lakh | USD 33,376.02 | Each semester, in August and January |
| Living in Tallahassee, June 2027 to May 2028 (12 months) | INR 29.24 lakh | USD 30,540 | Monthly from arrival |
| Books and supplies, 3 semesters | INR 1.98 lakh | USD 2,070 | Start of each semester |
| FSU health insurance, Summer 2027 plus one annual plan | INR 3.37 lakh | USD 3,525 | Billed in May and July 2027 |
| Application fee | INR 3,000 | USD 30 | At submission, non-refundable |
| SEVIS I-901 fee | INR 34,000 | USD 350 | After the I-20, before the visa interview |
| F-1 visa application fee | INR 18,000 | USD 185 | When booking the interview |
| Full programme total | INR 75.67 lakh | USD 79,042.30 | June 2027 to May 2028 |
US law sets a USD 250 visa integrity fee charged when the visa is issued, but no government fee schedule we could read on 24 September 2026 shows it being collected, so it isn't in the total. Check the fee on the US embassy India page when you book. FSU's generic I-20 figure of USD 49,944 for 2026 admits assumes 18 credits and no summer classes, and this programme puts 33 credits into its first 12 months, so expect to show more. That money stays yours; it's proof of funds, not an extra cost. Converted at INR 95.7310 per USD, the FBIL reference rate for 23 September 2026 on the RBI website. The USD 250 visa integrity fee and flights are excluded.
The tuition rows are split because the programme straddles two rate years. FSU’s 2026-27 rate of USD 1,278.04 per credit hour covers Summer 2027, and the Board of Trustees approved USD 1,281.77 from Fall 2027. So 7 x 1,278.04 plus 26 x 1,281.77 gives USD 42,272.30, and the flat fees add USD 70 (USD 20 facility fee in each of three semesters and USD 5 FSUCard fee in Fall and Spring).
Living uses FSU’s 2026-27 off-campus graduate budget of USD 22,906 for nine months, which works out to USD 2,545 a month. You arrive in June and finish in May, so that’s 12 months, or USD 30,540. Books are FSU’s USD 1,380 a year, prorated to USD 690 for each of the three semesters you’re enrolled.
Insurance costs more here than for a Fall starter. Every F-1 student is enrolled automatically in FSU’s plan with no waiver from 2026-27. A June start needs the Summer Only 2027 cover at USD 728, then the annual plan from 15 August, which was USD 2,797 in 2026-27. The 2027-28 premium isn’t published yet.
The gap between FSU’s USD 42,175 and our USD 42,342 for tuition and fees is USD 167. USD 97 is the Fall 2027 rate rise on 26 credits, and USD 70 is the flat term fees FSU’s table leaves out. The bigger gap is everything that isn’t tuition. Living, books and insurance add about USD 36,000, which is why a family that budgets only for FSU’s estimate ends up short by the second semester.
Can an Indian graduate meet the FSU MS Business Analytics entry rules?
Yes, if your bachelor’s is judged comparable to a US degree with at least a 3.0 upper-division GPA, and your transcript shows one college course each in calculus, probability and statistics, and programming. GMAT and GRE are optional. English is Wertheim’s higher bar, IELTS 7.0 or PTE 66, not the university’s 6.5.
| Requirement | Published rule | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor's degree (India) | Comparable to a US bachelor's from a regionally accredited institution | Check a four-year degree first; a three-year degree needs the evaluation to decide |
| Grades | Minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper-division work, counted from the term of your 60th credit | Ask the evaluator to state your upper-division GPA |
| Calculus | At least one college-level course | Find the course title and marks on your transcript |
| Probability and statistics | At least one college-level course | Find the course title and marks on your transcript |
| Programming | At least one college-level course in a high-level language such as Python, R or C++ | Take a credit-bearing course now if your degree has none |
| Credential evaluation | Official course-by-course evaluation by a NACES member, received before FSU reviews the file | Order it from The Evaluation Company or another NACES member first |
| English test | IELTS 7.0, PTE 66, TOEFL 5.0 (new scale) or 600 (paper), taken within two years | Book IELTS or PTE now; confirm Duolingo in writing before using it |
| GMAT or GRE | Optional; any score you send is used in the decision | Send it only if it's clearly above the rest of your file |
| Documents | Statement, CV with dates of work, two recommendations (three preferred), USD 30 fee | Line up recommenders who taught you maths or programming |
| Funds for the I-20 | Bank letters in English, signed by a manager, dated within six months | Keep the full-year amount in the account before admission |
FSU publishes no Indian percentage or CGPA cut-off. The 3.0 is an upper-division GPA, which covers roughly your final two years, and the evaluator calculates it. That’s why the evaluation comes first. A 65% aggregate can land above or below 3.0 depending on your final-year marks and the evaluator’s scale.
Work experience isn’t a stated minimum, but the CV must show dates, positions and whether each job was full-time or part-time, and FSU weighs it. Business coursework isn’t required either. You’re still expected to know the basics of economics, finance, accounting and management principles, so an engineering graduate should read up before the June start.
An English-medium Indian degree doesn’t exempt you. Wertheim’s exemption covers applicants whose native language is English or who studied in an English-speaking country, and India isn’t on FSU’s exempt list. Scores must reach FSU directly from the test body and be under two years old at the time you apply, so a test taken in 2024 won’t work for a December 2026 file.
Five things that sink Indian files for this programme
Plan to the 1 December date, not 15 January or 1 March
The programme page gives 15 January as the priority date and 1 March as final. Wertheim’s international page sets an earlier line for you.“To be considered for priority admission for fall and summer admissions, international students must submit completed application materials prior to December 1.”Herbert Wertheim College of Business
The Graduate School’s own final date for summer is also 1 March, which is far too late for a visa before a late June start. Treat 1 December 2026 as your deadline.A three-year BCom or BSc isn't ruled in or out, so the evaluation decides
No FSU or Wertheim page says whether a three-year Indian bachelor’s counts as comparable to a US degree. FSU says the course-by-course evaluation “verifies degree equivalency”. Get that evaluation before you pay the USD 30 fee. A four-year BE or BTech is the safe case. A three-year degree followed by a completed Indian master’s fits FSU’s graduate-degree route, but ask the Graduate Programs Office to confirm it for you in writing.
Show the three prerequisite courses by name, not a general maths background
The rule is specific.“(1) at least one college-level course in calculus, (2) at least one college-level course in probability and statistics and (3) at least one college-level course in computer programming using a high-level language such as Python, R, C++, etc.”FSU MS-BA programme page
Commerce graduates often have business statistics but no calculus, and many BBA transcripts have no programming at all. Class 12 maths doesn’t count because it isn’t college-level. Fill a gap with a credit-bearing university course before you apply.Use IELTS 7.0, not the 6.5 you'll see on FSU's main pages
The Graduate School lists IELTS 6.5 and PTE 55. Those are university floors. Wertheim asks for IELTS 7 and PTE 66, and India isn’t exempt, even for an English-medium degree. Duolingo 125 appears on the programme page but is missing from Wertheim’s international page, so get written confirmation before you rely on it.
Budget well above FSU's USD 49,944 funds figure
FSU’s funds table lists separate higher figures for the MSF, MAcc and MBA, but none for this programme. Its general figure assumes 18 credits and no summer study, and it warns about exactly this case.“If you enroll in summer courses, your cost of attendance will be considerably higher.”FSU Center for Global Engagement
All 33 credits fall inside your first 12 months. Have documents for roughly the full programme cost ready so the I-20 isn’t held up.
How and when should you apply for the Summer 2027 intake?
There are three hand-overs outside FSU before you can submit, the English test, the credential evaluation and your recommenders. Work backwards from 1 December 2026. After admission, CGE issues the I-20, you pay SEVIS and book the visa, all before a late June 2027 start.
You apply through the FSU Graduate Application portal, your recommenders upload letters there, the evaluator and test body send results straight to FSU, and once Wertheim's recommendation becomes formal admission, CGE issues the I-20 before you pay SEVIS and book the F-1 interview.
| Start by | Task | Takes | Why this date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 22 Oct 2026 | Check the three prerequisite courses | 7 days | If one is missing, the whole plan changes, so do this first. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | Order the NACES evaluation | 30 days | FSU won't review the file until it arrives. Observed estimate, not an FSU figure. |
| 29 Oct 2026 | Sit IELTS 7.0 or PTE 66 | 30 days | Booking plus result time; scores must go direct from the test body. |
| 07 Nov 2026 | Brief two or three recommenders | 21 days | They upload letters themselves inside the FSU portal. |
| 14 Nov 2026 | Write the statement and dated CV | 14 days | Name your calculus, statistics and programming courses in it. |
| 28 Nov 2026 | Submit and pay the USD 30 fee | 3 days | Say yes to the financial assistance question if you want an assistantship. |
The allowances are Nbyula planning estimates, not processing times published by Florida State University.
Each hand-over has an owner. You submit the online application and the USD 30 fee. The Evaluation Company, or another NACES member, sends the course-by-course evaluation. IELTS, PTE or ETS sends the score. Your recommenders upload letters. Wertheim reviews the file and recommends admission, and the Graduate Admissions Office makes it formal.
Formal admission opens the I-20 application in Nole Start about two business days later. CGE says it issues the I-20 within three business days of a complete file. Then you pay the USD 350 SEVIS fee and book the interview. For a late June start that whole chain has to fit into spring.
If you want an assistantship, the handbook says awards are normally made in the spring before the programme starts, and the programme page ties assistantship consideration to 15 January. It doesn’t say how many there are. Read any offer letter closely, because the handbook describes in-state tuition waivers and doesn’t say whether the out-of-state portion, about USD 799 of every credit hour, is covered.
FSU’s registrar lists Summer Session B from 21 June to 30 July 2027, which matches the programme’s late June start. An offer in late March leaves about twelve weeks for the I-20, SEVIS and an interview slot, with no spare term if a step runs late. Admission is term-specific, so if the visa doesn’t come through in time you reapply for Summer 2028.
What jobs and pay can you expect after the FSU MS Business Analytics?
The one programme-level figure is Wertheim’s own. 61.1% of Business Analytics master’s graduates in the 2021-22 cycle had job offers within six months. It’s self-reported, four years old and covers all students, not internationals. The degree’s CIP code is on the DHS STEM list, so 36 months of OPT in total is open to you.
| Measure | Figure | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Job offers, MS-BA graduates | 61.1% | Wertheim table, Summer 2021 to Spring 2022 graduates plus six-month follow-up. MBA 93.3% in the same table. |
| Cohort size | 11 to 14 | 11 enrolled in Spring 2023; 14 named on the Class of 2025 recruiting list |
| Operations research analysts, US median pay | USD 88,940 | BLS, May 2025, all experience levels; 12% growth projected for 2025-35 |
| Data scientists, US median pay | USD 120,230 | BLS, May 2025, all experience levels; 35% growth projected for 2025-35 |
| STEM OPT | 12 + 24 months | CIP 30.7102 Business Analytics is on the DHS list updated 22 July 2024; the extension needs an E-Verify employer |
| H-1B master's cap | 20,000 extra | US master's holders get a separate 20,000 pool, and selection is now weighted by wage level |
BLS medians are national figures for everyone in the occupation, not FSU graduates. FSU publishes no salary or named employers for this programme.
We looked for employer names on the programme page, the handbook, the Wertheim recruiting page and the student statistics page. None names employers or salaries for MS-BA graduates. FSU’s university-wide master’s survey dashboard didn’t render as readable text, so we quote nothing from it.
The 61.1% needs context. It’s from a small class, it’s the second-lowest master’s figure in Wertheim’s table, and it’s old enough that the curriculum has changed since. Read it as a warning that a job isn’t automatic, not as a forecast for 2028.
On H-1B, the USD 100,000 payment in Proclamation 11069 doesn’t apply to a change of status granted inside the US, and a June 2026 court order has paused collection. A separate proposed fee of USD 103,265 for all cap-subject petitions was still a proposal on 24 September 2026. Plan your OPT years assuming the rules could tighten.
How is Florida State University ranked for business?
No ranking body publishes a rank for FSU’s MS Business Analytics itself. Times Higher Education places FSU in the 301 to 400 band for Business and Economics in its 2026 subject table, and 301 to 350 overall. Rankings are context here. They don’t decide admission and they don’t measure this programme’s placement.
| Publisher | Position | Table and year |
|---|---|---|
| Times Higher Education | 301 to 400 | World University Rankings by Subject 2026, Business and Economics |
| Times Higher Education | 301 to 350 | World University Rankings 2026 |
Who is the FSU MS Business Analytics right for, and who should skip it?
It suits an engineering, maths or statistics graduate who already codes and wants a fast, STEM-coded US degree. It's a poor fit for a commerce graduate without calculus or programming, and for anyone who needs a summer internship before job hunting.
| Verdict | Your background | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strong fit | BTech or BE graduate with maths and a programming course, 0 to 3 years of work | All three prerequisites are usually on the transcript, and the four-year degree avoids the equivalence question. |
| Strong fit | BSc Maths or Statistics graduate who has learnt Python or R for credit | The quantitative core suits you, and the programme adds the business side you lack. |
| Needs evidence | BCom or BBA graduate with business statistics | You'll need a college calculus and a programming course on record, and a three-year degree needs the evaluation first. |
| Needs evidence | Applicant who can only apply after January 2027 | Files after 15 January are reviewed on a space-available basis, and a spring admission squeezes the visa. |
| Do not shortlist | Graduate who wants an internship before full-time work | There's no summer break in the programme. The only internship is one optional elective. |
| Do not shortlist | Applicant counting on an assistantship to afford it | Awards are decided in spring before you start, and the handbook doesn't say whether the out-of-state fee is waived. |
The course is built on calculus, linear algebra and regression from the first summer, so the maths has to be in place on day one. The lock-step means everyone takes the same courses together. If you want to choose a track or add a second specialisation, the one elective slot won’t carry it.
If you like the subject but not the June start, FSU’s other quantitative master’s degrees admit in Fall, and the timing alone may decide it for you.
What will you study in the FSU MS Business Analytics?
Nine 3-credit core courses, one 3-credit elective and three 1-credit professional development courses make 33 credit hours across Summer, Fall and Spring, per the 2026-2027 handbook. Everyone takes the same sequence. The only choice is the elective, and the Spring capstone asks you to model a real business problem.

- Pass every course at C- or better and graduate with a 3.0 programme GPA
- Fall below 3.0 at the end of a term and you're on probation, with one term to recover before dismissal
- The internship elective is graded satisfactory or unsatisfactory only
The programme page and the 2026-2027 handbook disagree on two Fall and Summer course titles and one course code, though the course descriptions match. We list the programme page’s version and note the handbook’s. Ask the Graduate Programs Office which one your I-20 year will use.
With only three terms, the probation rule bites hard. A weak Summer leaves you just Fall to lift the average to 3.0, so the calculus and programming prerequisites matter for keeping your place, not only for getting in.
Should an Indian student shortlist the FSU MS Business Analytics?
Shortlist it if your transcript shows calculus, probability and statistics, and a programming course, and you can have a complete file in by 1 December 2026, and only then. FSU admits once a year for a late June start, and Wertheim asks international applicants to finish before 1 December for priority review.
What you get is speed. The whole degree fits inside about ten and a half months, so you're on OPT, with 24 more months of STEM extension available, a year earlier than on a two-year MS. The price of that speed is a fixed lock-step with no room to slow down, and a single elective slot that has to carry any specialisation you want.
Three things are genuinely hard here. Wertheim's own table shows 61.1% of Business Analytics master's graduates from the 2021-22 cycle had job offers, against 93.3% for the MBA in the same table, and FSU hasn't published a newer programme figure. There's no summer between years, so the only internship is one optional 3-credit elective, and you hit the job market with no US work on your CV. And a June start means the I-20, SEVIS and visa interview all have to happen in spring, so an admission that comes late in March leaves very little room if anything slips.
Decision checksfull cost · the three prerequisite courses · the December date · the placement figure
- The FSU MS Business Analytics costs about INR 75.67 lakh (USD 79,042) for the full programme, including 12 months of living and USD 3,525 of health insurance.
- It admits only for summer; the Summer 2027 cohort starts in late June 2027 and finishes in early May 2028.
- Wertheim asks international applicants to finish their file before 1 December 2026, six weeks ahead of the 15 January date on the programme page.
- Entry needs one college course each in calculus, probability and statistics, and programming, plus IELTS 7.0 or PTE 66; GMAT and GRE are optional.
- Wertheim's own table shows 61.1% of 2021-22 Business Analytics master's graduates had job offers within six months, against 93.3% for the MBA.
- CIP 30.7102 Business Analytics is on the DHS STEM list, so graduates can apply for 12 months of OPT plus a 24-month STEM extension.
Frequently asked questions
What is the total cost of MS Business Analytics at FSU for Indian students?
Plan for about INR 75.67 lakh, or USD 79,042. That covers 33 credits of tuition and fees at FSU's 2026-27 and Fall 2027 rates, 12 months of living in Tallahassee, books, the summer and annual health insurance premiums, the application fee, SEVIS and the visa fee. Flights and the USD 250 visa integrity fee are extra.
Does FSU MS Business Analytics have a Fall intake?
No. FSU admits to the MS Business Analytics only once a year, in summer. The Summer 2027 cohort starts in late June, which matches Summer Session B beginning on 21 June 2027, and finishes in early May 2028. If you miss it, the next entry is Summer 2028, and admission can't be deferred.
What is the last date to apply for FSU MS Business Analytics Summer 2027?
The programme's final date is 1 March 2027, with 15 January as the priority date. Wertheim's international page asks overseas applicants to complete their file before 1 December 2026 for priority review. Indian applicants should aim for 1 December, because a spring admission leaves little time for the I-20 and visa.
Is GRE or GMAT required for MS Business Analytics at FSU?
No. Wertheim's master's programmes are GMAT optional, and the GRE is accepted on the same basis. Send a score only if it lifts your application, because any score you submit becomes part of the file and is used in the decision. The GMAT code is PN8K567 and the GRE code is 5219.
Can a BCom graduate apply for MS Business Analytics at FSU?
Only if the transcript shows one college-level course each in calculus, probability and statistics, and programming in a language such as Python or R. Many BCom degrees have statistics but not calculus or programming. A three-year BCom also needs a NACES evaluation to judge comparability, so get that done before paying the fee.
What IELTS score does FSU need for MS Business Analytics?
IELTS Academic 7.0, which is higher than the 6.5 listed on FSU's Graduate School pages. The alternatives are PTE 66, TOEFL iBT 5.0 on the new scale, or 600 on the paper test, all taken within two years. Duolingo 125 appears on the programme page only, so confirm it in writing first.
Is FSU MS Business Analytics a STEM course with OPT extension?
Yes. FSU lists the programme under CIP code 30.7102, Business Analytics, and that code is on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List updated in July 2024. Graduates can apply for 12 months of OPT and then a 24-month STEM extension, provided the employer is enrolled in E-Verify.
Do MS Business Analytics students at FSU get assistantships?
Some do, but don't count on one. The handbook says assistantships pay biweekly with in-state tuition waivers for 10 hours of work a week, and awards are made in spring before the June start. The 15 January date is the priority date for assistantship consideration. Tick the financial assistance question on your application.
